Let's Throw It All Away (3:17)
Chup (3:17)
Hiding Place (3:33)
Review: White Peach maestro Zha is a regular member of the Naan label family and is back with another EP that follows up quickly from two previous efforts earlier in the year. As always he brings together grime, trap and dubstep into intoxication soundtracks that are full of mystery and intrigue. 'What Have You Done' kicks off with melancholic bass and moody melodic hooks then 'Let's Throw It All Away' further draws on Zha's heritage with another blend of plucked strings and lurching beats. 'Chup' ups the ante with more edgy and unsettling leads and 'Hiding Place' closes down with the most spacious sound of the lot.

Two Shades Of Blue
Cat: NAAN 006. Rel: 06 Jun 23

Deep Dubstep
Two Shades Of Blue (3:42)
Voices (3:44)
Review: After a short break from the controls, White Peach maestro Zha returns to his own Naan imprint to drop two more of his signature eastern-twinged swagger-jams. Following the intense flavours of cuts like 'Spice', 'Mumbai' and 'Tale Of She', both of these tracks pack a beguiling punch and some really interesting sample craft. 'Two Shades Of Blue' wheezes and teases with traditional dubby effects while 'Voices' hits the head and brain with a lot more of a physical punch and powerful layering effects. Premium gear. Zha is the man.

Spice
Spice (12")
Cat: NAAN 005. Rel: 24 Nov 21

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
Spice (3:54)
Grief (3:56)
Harm (3:14)
Two Rumours (3:01)
Review: Zha brings together element of dubstep, grime and trap on his latest 12" for the Naan crew. It is his first outing of the year following solid slabs of wax for the likes of White Peach and this label dating back to 2015. This one kicks off with 'Spice,' which has bass tones pinging about the mix with big hits, snatched vocal yelps and dusty drums all keeping you on your toes. 'Grief' is darker and dirtier thanks to the filthy great oscillation that rips up the swaggering rhythm and 'Harm' gets deep on some pensive pads and intoxicating melodic sounds. 'Two Rumours' closes down with sub so warm and cuddly it's like being hugged by a new duvet.

Floating
Floating (12")
Cat: NAAN 004. Rel: 15 Oct 19

Deep Dubstep
Floating
Shower
Father
Jaan
Review: White Peach daddy Zha returns to his own persy bakery for more dread bread bass. Every bit as tasty as previous Naan excursions, it's another eastern banquet; "Floating" is soft, spacious, spongey, singular and liable to sweep any wavey people right off their feet. "Shower" flips the vibe entirely for a bashy, reverse string splash-about while "Father" is a head-first drive down a shimmering sitar rabbit hole. "Jaan" sends us packing on a magic carpet of hang-drums, deep mystic pads and gentle strings. Life affirming.

Mumbai
Mumbai (10")
Cat: NAAN 003. Rel: 20 Nov 18

Deep Dubstep
Mumbai (4:12)
The Tale Of She (4:39)
Review: White Peach / Fent Plates bossman Zha returns with another delicious naan platter. "Mumbai" is like a spicy roti - crisp in its flavour, a pepper packing punch in the twisted shehnai blasts and scorched bass grunts. "The Tale Of She" is more of a puran poli. Deep, sweet flavours but don't think you won't have anything to chew or digest; there's a lingering wholesomeness running through the whole dish. Best served warm and with friends.

Losing You
Cat: NAAN 002. Rel: 17 Sep 18

Deep Dubstep
Losing You (4:22)
Uncomfortable (4:09)
Review: Now packing a four label punch, White Peach/Fent Plates/Yellow Flowers bossman ZHA is also behind Naan, a label for his own persy explorations. Following his launch release earlier this year come two more eastern accented adventures; "Losing You" is a breathtaking piece of work as it carries a mournful sarangi, rolling hang drums and deep ominous synth tones to dark and dangerous corners of your mind. "Uncomfortable" maintains the mood with loosely plucked sarod twangs wrapping themselves around a stately swaggering halftime arrangement that doubles up on the fill with mean results. Bread of heaven.
