I'm Gonna Dance (Jitwam remix) (4:39)
Review: Naya Beat, which translates from Hindi as 'new beat', continues on its mission to unearth foundational sounds from the subcontinent and South Asian diaspora through reissues, remixes and compilations. On this new long player the label has tracked down the original stems and recordings of Puthli's most seminal albums, including 'The Devil is Loose', and has worked with her to select a series of producers to add their own spin to the vocal source material. As such we get plenty of sublime deep disco sounds with a real cosmic twist from the likes of Maurice Fulton, Psychemagik, Turbotito & Ragz and many more.

Review: Ariel Kalma, Jeremiah Chiu, and Marta Sofia Honer's The Closest Thing to Silence transcends traditional boundaries. Through ethereal compositions and intricate soundscapes, the album creates an immersive atmosphere that invites contemplation and introspection. Kalma's mastery of wind instruments, Chiu's electronic experimentation, and Honer's emotive vocals blend seamlessly and weave a tapestry of sound that evokes a sense of serene tranquillity. Each track unfolds like a meditation, guiding listeners through evocative landscapes of sound and ensuring that the long player is an evocative bit of collaborative artistry that highlights the beauty found within moments of stillness.

Review: Almost three years after the well-received 'Orange Wine 'EP, and after three international tours, Okvsho is back with its fourth project, A Place Between Us. Georg and Christoph Kiss, the two brothers behind Okvsho, flaunt a project that is more intimate and bold than ever. Spanning the usual gamut of muted neo-soul, hip-hop, nu-jazz and all in between, the repertoire is expanded to even further limits, despite the laconic sonic demeanour; 'Soule' spans desert funk and jazz, and loosely signals the baile turn to follow with 'Pasitos Jaguari'. This second LP is the first full-length project to be released on the newly-founded Zurich-based label Current Moves, with which the Okvsho-brothers aim to shape the young European jazz scene they are inspired by.

Review: Thievery Corporation member and co-founder of Eighteenth Street Lounge Music Eric Hilton is here with his latest full album titled Sound Vagabond. With 14 songs in total, Eric gathers his cast experience with fusing genres into a more singular vision on this long player. Fans of Thievery Corporation will definitely feel at home with this, like seeing an old friend. The sounds are crisp, clean, laid back and a perfect balance of a loose fusion yet jazzy and patterns constructed with sharp beats. The creative instruments introduced into many of these are perhaps the most impressive thing about these tracks. It makes this style come alive anew. This album is presented on fantastic looking blue vinyl.

Review: Proper wackjob broken beat concrete from Miles Newbold, touching down on swampy terrain somewhere suspended between the stark, dub-damaged bruk of Dennis Mcfarlane et al, 50s B-movie sci-fi soundtracks, 60s lounge kitsch, and the close bedroom drum machine soul experiments of pioneers like Shuggie Otis, but avoiding cliche at every turn. Highlights include the opening klang of 'Vital Signs' with its driving drum break giving way to a fantastic planet-esque sea of modular squealings and contractions and the abstract and disarmingly groovy plod of 'Possible Danger'.

Review: Takuya Kuroda's Rising Son album on First Word Records heralds a new chapter in jazz innovation. With masterful trumpet prowess and genre-defying compositions, Kuroda's album is a new school take on classic sounds that traverses many a vibrant landscape. Seamlessly blending traditional jazz with contemporary influences, Kuroda's musical vision resonates with soulful depth and infectious energy across all of these most exquisite pieces. Review: Washington DC-based label People's Potential Unlimited is one of those that seems to have an endless supply of magical sounds that all very much fit with its MO and are all pretty unique. Often times that is down to the smart digging of the owners who unearth plenty of treasures for reissuing but this time out it is a new record from a contemporary outfit, TAMTAM. The four piece band formed in Tokyo and started making reggae and dub before moving on to jazz, soul, new age and psych-pop. They bring subtle euphoria to what they do as well as catchy grooves and nostalgic melodies as exemplified here on this mature new work that will be lapped up by fans of Khruangbin.

Review: A classic track on many Cafe Del Mar compilations in the early 90s, The Hypnotist by Sisterlove finally gets a proper reissue. Thank you to Sound Migration for keeping all four original versions complete on this homage to the 1993 release. For those who enjoy the chill-out sound of the 90s where ambient, electronic and house music took on a spiritual and psychedelic overview, you will fall in love with this one. We can't say enough great things about what sound this track represents. Old skool heads and new fans of the sound, snap this up quickly!
