Bermuda (6:31)
New Paradise (6:48)
Review: Last year, Melbourne's Harvey Sutherland signaled his arrival in emphatic fashion with the acclaimed Brothers EP for Voyage Recordings - a sumptuous, soul-flecked EP of boogie-influenced deep house. Here, he continues to impress with a superb double A-side for Dani Plessow's MCDE imprint. "Bermuda" is deliciously warm and summery, with jaunty boogie synths and cascading chords riding a smooth, shuffling deep house groove. "New Paradise" works the same formula hard, with dreamy, held-note chords and bubbly synthesizer melodies wrapping themselves around loose, analogue-sounding percussion and a rich bassline. If there were any doubts about his talents moving forward, this should dispel them. Clearly, Sutherland is here to stay.

Thirstin' (5:41)
Atmosphere (6:16)
Review: Not content with providing us with the tune of summer 14 - the Mood Hut released "Something (On My Mind)" - Jack Jutson has only gone and done it again on his Future Times debut. "Thirstin" is every bit as likeable as its' esteemed predecessor, delivering a subtly sun-kissed blend of loose, delay-laden deep house percussion, rich Rhodes chords and yearning vocals. Truly, it's magical - the kind of warm, evocative fare that will still be getting rotations decades from now. Flipside "Atmosphere", an instrumental cut built around jazzy drums, live disco bass and brilliant eyes-closed piano solos, is almost as good. Clearly, the Pender Street Steppers man is one serious talent.

Bass Affairs (7:24)
Sweep Magic (5:41)
Starstrike (7:01)
Review: Well, here's something to raise the spirits: a first new 12" from Frank Timm's Sound Stream alias for three years. Those familiar with the German producer's work will know exactly what to expect, namely delicious disco house cut-ups that turn selected loops from largely forgotten gems into insatiable dancefloor gold. A-side "Bass Affairs" is particularly good, delivering a perfect blend of sun-kissed Brazilian guitars, rubbery slap bass loops and lilting Rhodes chords (all accompanied, of course, by thunderous kick drums). There's a more traditional disco-house feel about the filter-heavy "Sweep Magic", while "Starstrike" is a throbbing, stripped back affair that makes great use of looped-up bass guitars.

Adam Rock Dissed!! (4:38)
Moths In Wallets (feat Mr Mensah) (5:07)
Backchat For Toprock (5:18)
Review: Dego and Kaidi on Sound Signature whut???? Here's a partnership that makes perfect sense! The West London legends bring their signature blend of soul and brukked up grit to Theo Parrish's label across three stellar cuts resulting in a 12" that will remain long in the box. Lead track "Adam Rock Dissed" sets the tone, gliding out of the grooves with impeccably placed drums snapping away loosely as Kaidi lets loose with his magical fingers on keys. Next up, "Moths In Wallets" rolls forward and fat on a lazy breakbeat with the vibe enhanced by the low bass rumble and rich, rich keys. This might be our favourite cut on the 12" though B-side production "Backchat for Toprock" runs it close. Live drums get ripped up hard, rocking to their own broken step as Dego and Kaidi slowly tease out some heart wrenching chords amidst a flurry of heavy piano. The masters are in session, pay attention!

Review: Somewhat surprisingly, this is veteran Detroiter Patrice Scott's debut album. He's been releasing admirably melodic blends of deep house and techno since 2006, but this is the first time he's attempted to fill a full-length release. Euphonium is predictably enjoyable, with audible nods to pioneers of both genres - Ron Hardy, Ron Trent, Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Larry Heard in particular - and a range of tracks that ripple with far-sighted chords, sci-fi tinged rhythms, and an almost tactile feel. While mostly focused on dancefloor material, there are occasional downtempo excursions (see "A Detroit State of Mind" and "Sync Deeper"). These help give the album balance, while emphasizing Scott's love of mood and melody.

Review: Having earned a solid reputation via well-regarded EPs on Delsin and HPTY, Finnish mystery man Trevor Deep Jr returns to the latter to deliver a debut album some four years in the making. Seemingly inspired by the twin attractions of early Chicago deep house and the stargazing futurism of Detroit, the limited, hand-numbered TDJ is packed with melodious, analogue-rich workouts. While the A-side sticks largely to his usual deep house fare, he successfully mixes things up a little on the flip. Check, for example, the dub house/deep techno fusion of King Sporty hook-up "Nina Dub", the sweet, lilting, live nu-jazz of "Roba Rouge", and the yearning downtempo soul of "Let You End", featuring the luscious vocals of Niko Marks.

Hyper-Realised-Self (6:17)
Jumpin' Off Into The Sea Of Your Love (5:20)
Review: Bell Towers has become Public Possession's go-to man, releasing a trio of singles on the Munich imprint throughout 2014. The Hyper-Realised EP continues this productive partnership, delivering two more slices of kaleidoscopic, melodious house to heighten the senses. "Hyper-Realised Self" sets the tone, delivering the kind of enveloping, melodious, cheery deep house jam that sounds like Pender Street Steppers after fistfuls of prescription anti-depressants. "Jumpin' Off Into The Sea Of Your Love" is similarly happy, with the Aussie producer layering chiming melodies over dreamy chords and a tactile groove and sensual synth-bass. Both tracks are wonderfully chipper, and sound tailor-made for sun-soaked outdoor parties.

Review: Having started the year with a mix CD and two samplers celebrating their roots as an acclaimed New York party, Mister Saturday Night returns to the business of building up the label's already impressive catalogue. This time, former Rush Hour associate Nebraska is at the controls. Stand Your Ground is unwaveringly positive throughout, delivering a range of cheery, dancefloor-focused cuts. There's some deliciously summery deep house in the shape of "Little Chan" (check out the superb pianos and acid tweaks), while "The Stoop" is a low-slung chugger built around killer jazz samples. The slower "Stand Your Ground" is nothing less than a slow-motion rush - all positive electronics and twittering melodies - while closer "Emotional Rescue" is a horn-toting romp through peaktime disco house.

Review: YES! We hadn't heard anything from Detroit's Kai Alce in a while so it's an absolute joy to see him back on our shelves and doing what he does best. This, of course, is a reissue of the "Dirty South Dirt" anthem that came out as a 7" on Omar S' FXHE label a while back but it hasn't been around for a while and some of us still hadn't picked up this absolute gem! Slow-building percussion and funky yet minimal melodies make up the track, and you also get a string-heavy version, too! On the flip, you have "Late Night Theme" and the bumpy "Work The Dub" to swing you from side to side. Highly recommended and downright essential.

Anything With A Moonroof (7:25)
Review: After seriously impressing with output for Sound Signature, NDATL, Wild Oats, and Apron, Jay Daniel resurfaces with his own dedicated label Watusi High. With a title like School Dance, its little surprise that Daniel seems to be playing on his relative lack of years - the centre label also features a sketch of him as a youngster. There's little you could say is immature about A-side "Thank You Jay", though; a typically sparse affair built around dusty but bumpin' grooves, leisurely electronics and a brilliant synth bassline. "Anything With A Moonroof" is arguably even dustier, with freshly baked chords - ludicrously deep, even by his high standards - riding a jazz-flecked drum machine groove.

The opener "Goneville" features Max Graef and sounds like a J Dilla track being played by jazz instrumentalists, while "Shit Iz Real" reminds us more of the early 90's NY sound a-la KRS1. There's also more experimentally-edged numbers such as "You Can't Groove", tracks which allow this LP to not be categorised under one genre and sound very special, indeed...

Review: Daniel Leseman and Hans 'Junktion' Peeman first joined forces under the Fouk moniker late last year, delivering an impressive debut EP, First Things First, that skillfully combined the former's jazz-tinged rhythms with the latter's smooth deep house nous. There are plenty more reasons to be cheerful on this debut for Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings imprint, not least the driving bass, jaunty jazz samples and warm chords of "Kill Frenzy". There's even more soul present on the loose house beats, glassy-eyed vocal samples and rich textures of "Leftys Bar", while "Ken Sent Me Release" is as woozy, wavy and dreamy as you'd expect. Soothing stuff, all told.

Review: The latest 12" from Australia's fast-rising Butter Sessions imprint is a truly pan-global affair, featuring Vancouver producer Jayda G, globetrotting Sex Tags man DJ Fett Burger, and Melbourne-based label bosses Sleep D on the remix. In many ways, the opening "Steel D Flanger Mix" delivers what you'd expect to hear, with synthesized panpipes and a bustling bassline riding an endless wave of dense, tropical house percussion. Sleep D go smoother and more starry on their decidedly intergalactic - and oh-so alluring - Rainforest Version, before rounding off proceedings with a typically Sex Tags-like chunk of ultra-deep, ultra-sparse dub house. Given the talent involved, it's no surprise that Velvet Vortex is ace.

As with his previous outing on Shadeleaf, Mann is in no mood to fool around on Night Stories. Following 12"s for Greta Cottage Workshop and Barcelona's Apersonal Music, Paxton Fettel's debut album returns to the UK for a release on Matt Densham flourishing label. You'll find whimsical, summery house vibes on album opener "Amber Light Burns", while tones are slightly colder but equally heartfelt on "Afloat On A Sea Of Nothing", made with Iero artist Takuya Matsumoto. Review: The Adesse Versions project has previously given us superb re-edits, remixes and re-makes of tunes from Photek, Mikey Dread, Madonna and Vikter Duplaix. Here he once again mines the past, delivering dancefloor interpretations (available in Dub and vocal forms) of cuts from Japan and Massive Attack. The two versions of the former's tearjerker "Ghosts" stick to the feel of the original, turning them into moody, atmospheric, stretched out and dub-wise deep house cuts with serious dancefloor potential. "Sly" sounds like a speeded-up version of Trevor Jackson's Underdog remix with added house swing and delay-laden vocal cuts. It's actually rather good, and impeccably executed as always.

"AM" and "PM", however, are still totally Fred P cuts, with the artist's familiar style shining through on both the percussion and mellow layers of ambience locked tight within the groove. Review: Following a surprise outing on House of Disco, Ludovic Llorca returns to Local Talk for the first time since 2013's much played The Same Thing EP. In its' original form, The Rainbow Song is a near perfect example of Llorca's particular brand of deep house - all stretched-out chords, a bustling bassline, tough but shuffling beats, cute cowbells and bluesy vocal samples. It sounds like an underground summer anthem in waiting. There's more of a funk-flecked urgency about the excellent S3A Broken STL Remix, which introduces further vocal samples and, arguably, an even more addictive groove. Certainly, it feels a little wilder than the original, whilst retaining Llorca's unique deep house perspective.

Aside from Versatile boss Gilb'r (here lending a helping hand on some African-influenced ambient house), most of the collaborators are new additions to the eccentric Norwegian's out-there audio universe. The two tracks with Phillip Lauer and JKS - an intergalactic ambient affair and a chunk of early Fila Brazillia style deep house - are particularly potent, while there's something deliciously warm and evocative about the Norwegian's explorations with Finn Jaakko Eino Kalevi. Best of all, though, are the two tracks with African vocalists Karlolin Tampere and Maimouna Haugen; "Nondo Riddimix", which boasts deliciously dense drums and sparse, exotic melodies, is arguably the highlight.

Review: Delusions Of Grandeur have been relatively quiet on the release front this year, but they're back with a bang thanks to this latest collaborative effort from Dan Shake and Medlar. The former has gotten a name thanks to being the first non-Detroiter on Moodymann's Mahogani Music, while the latter has been pushing his disco-friendly take on house music largely via the Wolf Music imprint. They got two cuts on here, the first one being a boogie-leaning, hazy summer club jam in the form of "Walk", and the second one a jazzier affair with plenty of soulful vocals and tribal drums called "I On You".
