Vlob Tool (5:47)
Review: Eversines has enjoyed an interesting career to date, switching between intriguing electronica experiments (see his blissful collaboration with Carolina Eyck, the sumptuous Waves), and more rugged, intoxicating dancefloor workouts (a fine 12" on Kalahari Oyster Cult). This time round, the Amsterdam-based producer is in club-focused mode. He begins bu surrounding a rubbery breakbeat with broken modem electronics, twisted acid lines and deep bass on 'Loopo', before reaching for spacey pads and bubbly lead lines on sci-fi brekas special 'Plyfe'. B-side opener 'Raarup Jam' is hypnotic, odd and otherworldly in the best possible way, while 'Vlob Tool' is a bongo-laced trip into percussion-rich deep techno.

Review: This six-track missive marks the Art-E-Fax label debut of James Bangura, an American producer who previously won praise for his releases on Step Back Trax, Vanity Press and Mister Saturday Night. He's primarily known for delivering breakbeat-driven retro-futurist club cuts, but this time around he's generally opted for a deeper and more immersive vibe. For proof, check the dub techno influenced hypnotism of 'Interpretive Dance' and 'Earworm', both of which sound like they could have come out of the Livity Sound studio. Bangura's ability to create weighty but off-kilter rhythms is further explored on 'Denita Junction', the dreamy but rhythmically punchy 'Kleanse' and dark and spaced-out closing cut 'Texts of Murakami'.

Review: Myriad label founder Markus Drose has been recording music for some time, though not very much has ever been released - at least not to date. In Memoriam, the German producer's debut album, is therefore something of a pleasant surprise, not least because it's really rather good. Aside from one fusion of speedy gabber beats and gorgeous ambient techno synths ('8 Likes 39 Comments'), the album sees Drose add IDM, deep house and ambient style synths and melodies to a variety of intricately programmed jungle and drum & bass rhythms. It's an undeniably retro-futurist sound for sure, but ultimately a winning one.
