Workin Scrubs (2:59)
Gold Diggin (2:57)
Review: Casual Connection (real name Lukasz Ru-Kasu) has been in the edit game for a while, with his first digital-only collection of disco and boogie revisions appearing on Alpaca Edits seven years ago. Here he returns with a third 12" single of his own, which also marks his first release of 2021. A-side 'Working Scrubs' is a clever revision of a '90s R&B classic that places the now iconic group vocals atop a rubbery, synth-heavy backing track that sits somewhere between nu-disco and '80s synth-funk. 'Gold Diggin' is another mash-up of sorts, with a much-loved hip-hop vocal sitting atop a heavy, bustling, all action rhythm-track full of stuttering drum hits and cut-up, hip-house style vocal stabs. Proper party-starting music.

Prospect Park - "The Kinda Love" (Jkriv remix) (8:06)

Review: Dave Lee aka Joey Negro has pulled together a fine team of remixers here to serve up their own versions of tunes by him, Jakarta, The Sunburst Band and Prospect Park, all for his own Z Records. Freerange boss and deep house Don Jimspter goes first and brings real sunshine to his take on 'He Is.' Detroit badman Andres then does what he does best to 'I Recognise', that is layering in hip hop slanted beats and nice rolling baselines under lush chords. On the flip are two more positive house vibrations to make this a handy EP.

Yukon (4:48)
Review: Clive From Accounts's tunes are as good as his artist alias. For his latest meeting he serve sup a knowing blend of soul, house and disco from across the ages. The relative newcomer impresses from the off with 'Tell Me' which is a steamy vocal over a fulsome house beat. 'Without Your Love' cuts loose on a more heady and cosmic house groove with some gorgeously seductive trumpet lines drifting in and out of ear shot and 'Strictly Business' is fun, cuddly basement grooves for intimate parties. 'Yukon' is a nice fresh breakbeat to up the energy.

ATFC & Gene Farris - "R U" (5:49)
ATFC - "Tech House Kinda Thing" (6:17)
ATFC - "Not Enough" (feat Mia Mendez) (5:58)
Review: Toolroom has gone from underground house label to one of the UK's most successful and large scale dance brands. They keep on serving up the sort of hits that become big festival anthems and this is another one, with new school Chicago artist Gene Farris paired off with ATFC for big, rollicking piano house sounds on 'Spirit of House.' 'R U' then gets more tech edged and sweaty on a big synth loop and walls of drums, while 'Tech House Kinda Thing' is a supersized tune designed to do plenty of damage. There is real funk and soul in the cut up and filtered vocal loops of closer 'Not Enough.'

Love Satisfaction (7:00)
Review: Loveface hits release number three with another serving of happy house music drenched in feel good samples and effects. Up first is the iconic vocal sample on 'Deep Love,' married to a glistening cosmic disco house beat. It's obvious but hugely effective. 'A Deeper Dub' then sinks down into deeper grooves, with US styled drums, lo-fi pads and a kinky sense of funk. Last of all, the most elastic and loose of the lot is 'Love Satisfaction,' with its diva vocals and darting chords lighting up the skies.

Review: The Carlos Sanchez Movement is a project started by Carlos a few years ago after a visit to Cosmic Arts. Sacred Rhythm Music got an early preview of the project and were keen to support it from the off and now it comes to fruition with this stunning new EP of jazz tinged and cosmic house. The lead insult his 'Wisdom' with an epic vocal performed by the global jazz singing sensation Gregory Porter along with some perfectly sunny synth designs and timeles house drums. Next to the instrumental are and two other classy compositions Feat Ledisi and Kenny Lattimore to make this a glorious house EP that brims with rare musicality.

This Thing (Turbojazz & Sean McCabe remix) (7:12)

Review: Two long-time dance music mainstays come together here for a lovely new house single. In one corner is deep house don and Freerange boss Jimpster, in the other is American hip-hop DJ and spoken word artist Rich Medina. 'This Thing' is a nice warm house cut with a thoughtful monologue from Medina adding intimacy, while an instrumental mix strips that back to just the musical house beats. Turbojazz & Sean McCabe link up for a remix on the flip that is a little more lively and upbeat but no less smooth and seductive, while Sean & Tommy's Old Skool dub beefs up the bass and layers in some nice late night chords. A tasteful package for sure.

Push The Feeling On (MK dub Revisited) (8:40)
Push The Feeling On (MK mix 95) (7:07)
Review: The Nightcrawlers' tune 'Push The Feeling On' is one of US garages most iconic. It was a hit on dance floors and in the charts all over the western world and was also what lay the foundations for MK's whole career. The dub version he served up became a signature sound for the producer throughout the 90s and beyond. That original 95 mix is included here and has the yearning vocals pacing about the mix, the snappy hits and warm, fat drums rolling down low. A Revisited version tweaks things only slightly and the Dub of Doom version is the most chunky and paired back of the lot with a slightly dark sense of menace pervading the whole affair.

Review: Cleveland City is the place to go for some of those old school house flavours and Chubby Chunks's Testament One: The Remixes is another fine offering from the 90s. The originals got plenty of plays back in the 90s with their acid, pianos and fluid grooves all finding a perfect sweet spot between warmth and depth but also party time. Cream resident Paul Bleasdale teams up with Mr Jay on the first mix, a joyous one that never lets up, then Loveface ups the disco dazzle and finally the original brings that steamy house heat.

The original Rhythm On The Loose tune 'Break Of Dawn' deserves a class all of its own as it stands proud as one of the most iconic dance tunes of all time. Review: In 1991 the UK is in a very different place to the one it occupies today. One thing that hasn't changed in the 30 years between then and now, though, is how incredibly, unbelievably good Primal Scream's Screamadelica was. And still is.

It might have been the studio mastery brought to the mix by the late, great Andrew Weatherall. Perhaps it hit the nail on the head of a year when the country's rock and dance scenes finally met somewhere on the outskirts of Blackburn, or along the M25. Maybe, just maybe, it's because the tracks themselves are just great. Whatever your personal take, this album should be on everyone's shelves. From the hedonism of 'Loaded' to the pseudo-rave euphoria of 'Come Together', and the self love of 'Movin' On Up' always inspires, the record is of its time but resonates through the ages.

Review: The inimitable Masters At Work have been at the top of their game for 30 years. Louis Vegas seems as prolific as ever and Kenny Dope remains a towering figure and together they have cooked up another killer house tune here for 2021. It is their first in two decades and though it bares all the hallmarks of the iconic duo's house sound, it also brings some newness. There is plenty of militant drum work and silvery tech house drum designs to 'Mattel' as well as a dark and marching baseline. The Kenlou dub strips it back to and even more late night and menacing sound with turbulent synth designs and the beats version is for tricky DJs.

This time out he lands on Groovin with 'Burning Hot' which has been a big hit in the clubs since 2010. It's one of his biggest tunes and a bonafide house classic with noodling funk bass, soul train grooves and his own soaring vocals the icing on the cake. "We Belong Together' is another epic deliver from the man, who empties his lungs, serves up irresistible soul and does it over a house beat embellished with heartwarming horn and piano stabs. He injects the track with some late night boogie-down action which accompanies her fabulous vocals just perfectly. The same quality you've come to expect from one half of Masters At Work. It is impossible to hear this one and not know Joe is behind it because of the way the whole mix is flooded with intense sound - percussion, keys, squealing leads and emotive vocals. When we do, you can bet that this slice of dancefloor sunshine from Dutch DJ/producer Mason (real name Iason Chronis) will get plenty of plays. A chunk of funky but laidback disco-house featuring a trademark lead vocal from Jem Cooke and a groove crafted from a short section of a classic cut (we won't give away what, but disco enthusiasts will spot the source), it has all the ingredients of a genuine crossover hit. Review: To mark 30 years in the game, legendary NYC house label Nervous Records has decided to release a series of compilations that pair classic cuts with new remixes. Louie Vega kicks off the first volume by remixing one of his own productions, Willie Ninja's 'I'm Hot', reinventing the analogue-rich deep house bumper as a disco-centric, while Radio Slave turns Ralph Falcon's sleazy 'Break You' into a stomping techno anthem. Tensnake adds warmth and wooziness to The Messenger's 'End This Hate' (a classic Todd Edwards production), Agent Orange delivers a warehouse-ready techno version of Phuture Trax's 'Future Groove' and Dr Packer emphasizes the gospel influences in Kim English's 'Unspeakable Joy'. Here the superb original is twisted into even more celebratory new dancefloor shapes across another essential EP. Mousse T sets the tone by turning it into a jazzy, percussive and stomping chunk of disco-house pleasure, before KDA re-imagines it as a thrusting, hard-edged house loop jam that wisely showcases Davie's inspired bassline. Network ally Andrew Komi is actually the man herbed the beats, and he told all manner of fantastical stories to the UK press who phoned up to hear more about the seminal tune. Review: We continue to have no real clue about who or what is behind the DSO label. They seem to like to serve up cheeky and divisive house edits that could erupt a dane floor or turn off the more serious chin strokers out there. But we have a confession to make: we Leo a bit of cheeky playfulness and this is another one that offers just that. It is R&B badgirl Kelis who gets cut up and stitched into a house beat on 'Caught' and for its nostalgic old school feels alone it is worth a play. The sample source for flip side tune 'Don't Ever' is a little more heady - it's a vocal from super smooth neo-soul don Maxwell. Review: Marseille's Ravanelli Disco Club returns with Antwerp-based Aymeric, resident at Geheimzinnig and Transit clubs, for their eighth release. Expect sexy, disco-tinged deep house all the way across That Sound EP. From the dreamy and low slung title track which gets a sultry, boogie down rework by mighty Frenchman Anoraak up next. On the flip, more club ready vibes await on the uplifting, Chicago inspired vibe of 'Peace' followed by the thumping funky house of 'Little Loving' with a distinct "French Touch" vibe that you'll love as much as we did.

If You Wanna (extended mix) (5:30)
Review: Mark Knight's huge Toolroom label and UK duo Leftwing & Kody make an early dash to claim the title of summer 2021's biggest house anthem. With the new series of Love Island just around the corner, this is exactly the sort of emotive, poolside piano house tune you would expect to hear each and every show. It's got the nagging little vocal, the nimble and melodic bassline and the fat drums that roll at the perfect tempo to get those fists pumping. It's obvious, yes, but that's not to say it isn't also hugely effective. Will it stick? With club openings just around the corner, it won't be long until we find out.

Review: The all conquering Ministry Of Sound have long been associated with huge selling compilations. They're back with another one here that undertakes the no so small task up suing up 'Three Decades of Dance.' They make a fine go of it across four sides of wax that take in all the most enduring early classics, plenty of second wave bombs and even some of the more bona-fide recent bangers. Those include tunes from Bicep, Nineties and Maceo Plex, while the early years highlights include gems from CJ Bolland and the still funk MD X-Spress tune 'God Made Me Phunky.'
