Review: On the basis of this latest Lone long player, Matthew Cutler seems to be mellowing with age. Having earned a belated breakthrough on the back of a number of rush-inducing, rainbow-coloured releases for R&S that saw him surging towards the dancefloor like a toddler high on cheap orange squash, the producer once again flips the script on Reality Testing. The hardcore and rave influences of recent years have largely been abandoned in favour of smooth, head-nodding hip-hop beats, stargazing chords, twinkling melodies and far-sighted atmospherics. It is, in many ways, a return to his roots. More importantly, it's also very good, delivering synth-laden warmth and hazy, laidback grooves by the barrow load.

Review: Icelandic producer Yagya (AKA reclusive producer Aoalsteinn Guomundsson) doesn't release very much, with four studio albums and a lone single the sum of 12 years productivity. However, what he does release is usually top notch. Sleepygirls, his fifth album and first for Delsin, is predictably good, delivering warm, sensual, melodious, dub-inflected techno and undulating, ultra-deep house. Grooves shuffle, electronics drift between speakers, melodies bubble and chords float off into the ether. It's the kind of album to stick on while the sun's coming up, or as you're easing yourself into the day following a heavy session the night before. Any many ways it's as sleepy as the title suggests, but in the most beguiling way.

Review: Yes! Finally the debut album from Joey Anderson arrives on CD after what seems like forever (if you'll excuse the pun). The vinyl edition of After Forever pulls together nine all new productions from the understated New Jersey-based producer (digital includes two cuts from his 2013 Dekmantel bow) and demonstrates Anderson's dedication to beat his own path, with plenty of mind bending moments to contend with. Highlights come thick and fast, "Space Colors Ideas" is a wondrous cascade of scatty bass synth and celestial sweeps, whilst the suitably named "Sorcery" melds together palpitating, subliminal kicks, a light dusting of hats, some loping Rhodes and complimentary synth notes. After Forever is destined to become one of the mosrt memorable house albums of this generation.

Review: It would be fair to say that Martyn's previous albums were characterized by a claustrophobic feel, with his instinctive blends of techno, house and dubstep shrouded in dense, often murky textures. It's interesting, then, that The Air Between Words - his third full length, and first for Ninja Tune - is a much breezier, more accessible affair. The trademark hard-to-define eclecticism is still present, but there's newfound maturity to the musical flourishes and bold grooves. The result is an album that pleasingly refuses to settle on one groove, tempo or style, variously touching on jazz-influenced percussive techno ("Drone"), symphonic ambience, folksy electro-pop (Inga Copeland collaboration "Love of Pleasure"), woozy, rave-influenced dancefloor electronica ("Forgiveness Step 2") and saucer-eyed Balearica (the thrilling closing track, "Fashion Skater").

Review: Dutch drum & bass dynamo Lenzman finally hits album status with this immaculate collection on Metalheadz. You should all be aware of his abilities by now - deep, emotional, delicate yet bolstered with big production, he treads the line between liquid and lava with ease. Highlights can be found by the bus-load across the 17 tracks, but if you were to force us to pick favourites, the jazz-stroked "Just Can't Take" with DRS, the wistful pianos and far-away vocal command of Martyna Baker on "Paper Faces" and the darker, devious roller "Private Eye" would definitely be top of the pile. And that's just three of many, many incredible cuts. To put it simply, Looking At The Stars has drum & bass album of the year written all over it. Essential.

Review: Spanish producer Psyk first made a splash on Mote-Evolver with the Distane EP, with the Shed-like title track proving to be a big hit, while the Arcade follow up was equally impressive, and indeed popular. So it makes sense then that Psyk's debut album lands on Luke Slater's seminal techno label. If you combine all of your favourite elements from producers like Robert Hood, Shed, Jeff Mills, and of course Luke Slater - think intricate and bubbling micro-synths, phat house chords, linear bleep sequences, and a course a lot of 909 action - you've got a bonafide techno album that is Pysk's Time Foundation.

Review: Code sees Patrick Graser issue his debut album as Answer Code Request with the twelve track set comfortably ranking among the best long players issued on Ostgut Ton in recent times. Though Graser has been releasing records under his given name since 2008, it's his work as Answer Code Request that has seen the German truly find his sound. First appearing under the moniker in 2011 with the self-released Subway Into EP, Graser has gone on to release with MDR and Ostgut Ton with the Breath EP issued on the latter earlier this year a fine taste for what to expect from Code. ACR's weighty breakbeat driven techno is very much in evidence here, at times it feels like how Hessle lad Joe might sound if he grew up in the outskirts of Berlin ("Field Depth" in particular). At other times Graser's suggestion that Code is influenced by the 90s sounds of UK bastions such as Warp feel very much true and the more you listen the more you feel he's successfully managed to deliver a cohesive and continually compelling techno album.

Review: DJ Harvey has always had the air of a man who does what he likes, regardless of the consequences. That's certainly the case with his musical output, which over recent years has veered from the psychedelic stoner rock of the Map of Africa project (a collaboration with Thomas Bullock of Rub 'N' Tug fame), to the more electronic, dancefloor-inclined ramblings of Locussolus. Here, he takes on another alias, Wildest Dreams, delivering an album of largely trippy, '70s-inspired West Coast rock with a decidedly acid-fried finish. It's a better set than Map of Africa ever was, and sounds like it was recorded at Sunset Sound on the "Strip" back in the early 1970s. It's loose, guitar-heavy, baggy, wonky, Balearic and, yes, pretty good.

Review: Amazingly, it's 25 years since George 'E.A.S.E' Evelyn and then production partner Kevin 'Boy Wonder' Harper sat down and recorded "Dextrous", their monstrous, bleep-era classic on Warp. A quarter of a century later, Evelyn is still going strong, though the grooves have mellowed a lot in that time. Here, Warp celebrate the producer's epic career with a much-deserved retrospective. All the familiar favourites are present, from the rush-inducing thrill of early dancefloor smashers "I'm For Real" and "Aftermath", to the sinewy downtempo goodness of the decidedly Balearic "Les Nuits", the blazed hip-hop dub of "195 Llbs" and stoner soul of "70s 80s".

Review: First emerging on his own self-titled label back in 2011, Abdulla Rashim has cultivated a brand of extended, atmospheric techno that explores African and Arab motifs under a cloak of intended anonymity. Respected hubs like Prologue, Semantica and Studio Barnhus have all issued work from Rashim in one form or another and he's also developed a fine curatorial streak as the head of the Northern Electronics label. It's through this outlet that the Swedish producer issues his debut album Unanimity, with the nine-tracks exactly the kind of immersive experience one would expect, poised somewhere between the psychedelia of Dozzy and the slightly foreboding sound design that punctuated Silent Servant's excellent 2012 LP.

Review: Hot on the heels of his No Beginning No End album, Jose returns with yet another arresting tale of modern day soul. His distinctive baritone humming with raw emotion he covers a broad soundscape that includes contemporary off-beat fracturisms ("U R The 1"), dreamy psychedelia ("Were Sleeping"), heavy bluesy rock ("Anywhere U Go") and Bonobo-style string drama ("4 Noble Truths"). Far-reaching, arresting and delivered with real authenticity, Jose's repertoire is as spotless and creative as it was when Giles Peterson first signed him 10 years ago.

Review: Experimental musician Leyland Kirby has been skirting round the edges of electronic music since the tail end of the '90s, delivering curious concept albums under a dizzying variety of pseudonyms (The Caretaker, The Stranger, Billy Ray Cyrix, Butcher Claws and Bored in Columbia, amongst many others). Here he dons his familiar V/VM alias for a discordant trip into drone territory supposedly inspired by fading memories of the last throes of early '90s outdoor raves. In truth, there's little in the music - a typically hissing, dystopian fusion of murky textures and becalmed electronic tones - to justify the concept, but it matters little. Kirby is a master at creating vaguely spooky, industrial-influenced soundscapes, and The Death of a Rave (A Partial Flashback) only enhances his reputation.
