Eddie C - "Coffe Way"
Alkalino - "Own Thing"
Cole Medina - "Movin 2 Fast"
Osmose - "I Wouldn't Wanna B Like Disco"
Review: Movin 2 Fast? Not when these sparkling disco house jams are spinning... You'll be shimmying and boogying at just the right speed as these Whiskey wunderkinds let loose. Each of the four cuts is a highlight in its own way; Eddie C conjures up the spirits of Cevin Fisher with just a dash of Krivit keys, Alkalino's low-swung bass jacker is as sexy as disco gets, Cole Medina pilfers a very well-known sample and injects it with undiluted disco dust while Osmose closes the show with an ace edit of the Alan Parsons Project.

Make It Acid (Idjut Boys mix)
Make It Acid (Idjut Boys bonus mix)
Review: File Under Disco... File under flipping amazing, too if you like. Following the success of their remix on the JKriv & The Disco Machine's original last year, the ever-consistent Idjut Boys have re-remixed it for darker, late night floors. Removing the lolloping bassline of their original mix and replacing it with a classic Joey Beltram / Black Strobe style acid hook, it's a real gurner of a disco track that leans heavily towards the latest of hours. Need more cowbell? Course you do... Head for the bonus mix.

Mawson's Walk
Review: Given his duties as head of Claremont 56 as well as active in various other projects such as Bison and Paqua, it's no surprise that Paul Mudd Murphy's collaborations with Kevin Pollard are infrequent at best, with four previous Mudd & Pollard twelve inches spanning some three years distance. However they're always worthy of your attention, as this one sided 12" attests. "Mawsons Walk" brims with all the disco trimmings you could want from a Claremont 56 release: loose Rhodes, some brass, low slung beats and infectious melody. A satisfying and bighearted 12".

Timothy J Fairplay - "Off The Rails"
Per Bojsen Moller - "Staying Late"
Steve Cook - "Noahs Arp"
Emile Strunz - "Magnetic"
Review: Named in homage to the series of collectable football cards from the 1970s, the Rothmans label follows the inaugural Mario Kempes Release with another long-haired icon being given his dues in the form of The Harald Toni Schumacher Release, complete with another four tracks of chugging techno-disco. Emotional Response's Timothy J Fairplay kicks things off with "Off The Rails", an expectedly dark and tense piece of Carpenter-esque synth, while LWE writer Per Bojsen-Moller delivers the atmospheric techno of "Staying Late", whose rippling analogue bassline gives way to an unexpectedly funky breakdown. On the flip, Steve Cook's "Noah's Arp" takes things a Balearic house direction with its thick, filtered analogue textures adding some psychedelic colour to its mid-tempo grooves, while Emile Strunz's "Magnetic" adds some acid flavour to its low-swung, vocoder saturated Italo swagger.

Tembezi
Tembezi (Prins Thomas version)
Tembezi (Marcellus Pittman remix)
Review: Internasjonal pull a curveball with the delightful afro house stylings of "Tembezi" from the unheralded Ackin'. Featuring the poignant vocal talents of M. Akamatsu, there are multiple charms to "Tembezi" which brandishes the sort of richly textured rhythms and melancholic piano improvisations that can't help but encourage the movement of feet. This being an Internasjonal release there is an accompanying Prins Thomas remix that winds down the tempo to a more cosmic level without losing any of the original's tinkling delights but our favourite thing about this record is the final remix from 3 Chairs originator Marcellus Pittman. Adopting a bumpier note, Pittman's talent for crafting emotive synth melodies and dubbed piano chords shines through with positively incandescent results.

Bless The Rains
My Body's On Fire
Not In Love Anymore
Review: If you want hugs on the dancefloor deep into the night, Late Night Tough Guy's (formally DJ HMC) "Bless The Rains" is the perfect drug. The Adelaide based luminary rehashes Toto's "Africa" in a heavily pitched down and simple edit fit for any fromage-laced discotheque. Skirting around the throbbing bassline and triangle hits of "My Body On Fire" is a vocal that will have some train-spotters pulling their hair out in frustration, while "Not In Love Anymore" will have both Warren G/Nate Dogg and Michael McDonald fans bumping and grinding to excess.

Can't You See
I Feel Good
Review: Following the recent dip into the Theo Parrish archives that was The Twin Cities, Phil Weeks' Robsoul imprint looks to another one of Detroit's adopted sons in the form of Rick Wade. Like that recent Parrish reissue, Weeks re-releases another three tracks from Wade's bulging discography. The upbeat disco loops of "Players Theme" was originally released on French label Funky Chocolate in 2002 and still sound fresher than anything being plied by the Soundcloud dwellers today, while "Can't You See" from 2003 provides a more soulful take on house music. On the flip, the tracky funk and cascading string melodies of "I Feel Good" originally graced Wade's own Harmonie Park imprint in 1998, but sound no less vital today. Essential.

Can't You See Me
Tender Melody
Review: As the name suggest, The Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club was born out of Russia and the longwinded alias gives Francis Inferno and Deep Space Orchestra's a run for their moniker money. The Can't You See Me EP for Italian label Glenview Records represents the mysterious producer's first record of the year after a prolific 2012 and leads with a psychedelic and pitched down tenor on "Cant You See" that's not to dissimilar from Tornado Wallace's earlier Balearic works. It sees lazy hi-hat scrapes and thickly struck bass stabs hold down a funky and vocal groove. The dry pitter-patter drum beats of "Tender Melody" move to meet filter-delay horns which are reinforced by a complimentary bassline and vocals of dainty swoon. Two cuts for the early hours of a lazy afternoon.

Loop For Love
Kiss My Cologne
Unstoppable
Unstoppablefx
Review: Tiger & Woods Editainment label usher in yet another mystery duo/alias (delete as appropriate) in the shape of the punderfully monikered Boe & Zak, whose Rudy EP pays clear homage to the heavily percussive disco-house sound of early 90s New York. Had enough of that you say? Well the four tracks here might engender a sense of re-evaluation as like previous Editainment releases, Boe & Zak approach the genre with a sense of understanding and accomplishment that's tellingly lacking in those armed with a familiar Kerri Chandler record and a soundcloud account. The heavy string loops of "Loop For Love" alone will have crowds in raptures, whilst the tough drum machine work outs "Kiss My Cologne" and "Unstoppable" are the kind of tracks you can have oodles of fun with over two copies.

Rahaan - "Rebound"
Zernell & Rahaan - "What!"
Tim McAllister - "I Need Help!"
Review: The highly anticipated release of Grimy Edits Vol. 6 is here with the type of monster edits you'd expect from GRIMY! On this sixth volume of the popular edit series you have Veteran Chicago DJs Zernell & Rahaan bringing the heat with Rahaan's supercharged version of Rebound as the 1st track, coupled with the Zernell - Rahaan collaboration of an obscure B-side Latin Disco / Break Beat Jam perfectly titled WHAT! Joined on the flip side of the release is veteran edit master Tim McAllister of M.I.L.C. Music fame who takes a lesser known JB 7" and transforms it into the dance foor killer titled "I Need Help!".

The Jones Girls - "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" (M&M I Don't Wannna Do It mix) (14:48)
Marvin Gaye - "I Want You" (M&M Breakdown beat mix) (8:27)
Review: Back when remixing meant cut tape - not Ableton - John Morales and (Sergio) Munzibai aka M&M were the Bronx's go to men. Morales wraps up his two-part edit homage to M&M's unreleased material with slight recalibration's to Teddy Pendergrass, Loleatta Holloway and The Jones Girls, capping off the series with a soft and percussive "Breakdown beat" mix to the soulful and bona-fide hum of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". T-Pendergrass horns and heat get touched up in a "Yo'u Got What I Need" mix, while the gospel vocals and strings of Loleatta Holloway are extended for a longer disco player. M&M then give The Jones Girls an extended and instrumental work out in their "I Don't Wanna Do It" mix.

Skin (Frank Booker Godfather edit)
Cosmos (Frank Booker Interstellar edit)
Review: Brooklyn label Razor N Tape return with some razor sharp edits from the personal armoury of Frank Booker, Anyone who keeps a left eye on contemporary deep house and disco should be familiar with the Auckland based DJ, producer and co-host of the Hit It & Quit It radio show with Recloose; in fact those that aren't should enrol in disco night classes right now! Those might help you ID the source material on the two edits from Booker here, though the gliding horn heavy funk and distinctive grunts of A Side rework "Skin" should be all the clue you need. On the flip, the loose limbed percussion and rising Philly strings of "Interstellar" provide equal doses of dusty disco delight.

Sentenced Beyond The Seas (5:05)
Moon Plain (Soft Rocks Acperience) (7:14)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Little do people know that Coober Pedy is an opal rich town buried deep within the red and arid outback of South Australia. Lewie Day (aka Tornado Wallace) and Tom Moore may be from Melbourne, but the duo make up the Coober Pedy University Band, coining the term "Krautback" to describe this Moon Plain EP. Drawing upon italo synths and mid-tempo Balearica as inspiration, the first release comes in 12" form via Soft Rocks' Kinfolk label. The reverb washed Australian crooner Chet Faker appears on the title track "Moon Plain" alongside heavy struck piano chords, while "Sentenced Beyond The Seas" is a flow of groggy atmospheres and downtempo beats. "Oblong" is the the EPs stand out italo track with short bass arpeggios a highlight, while Soft Rocks "Acperience" mix of "Moon Plain" takes on an acidic and space western theme.
