Bone Mics (3:36)
Cash Romantic (4:11)
Phosycon (5:12)
Review: Overmono's latest on XL Recordings welcomes in a new phase of their artistic evolution. It finds them working with a broader sonic palette that takes them well beyond the fringes of the dance floor. This one comes hot on the heels of the well-received fabric mix and it goes from big breakbeat moments like 'Cash Romantic' to their own take on UKG on 'Bone Mics' and more slow, swaggering, sludgy stuff like 'Phosycon'. It's fresh and a fine addition to your bag.

Review: There is a great selection of reissues of Future Sound of London's back catalogue going on right now. It goes all the way back to 1988 when they first started chaining the game with their forward facing electronics and mix of rave, breaks, hardcore and ambient into something utterly fresh. It still resonates today, hence these reissues, and this one is a 25th Anniversary edition of Accelerator. This one was, at the time, seen as the group's most "commercially-minded" album but that takes nothing way from its visionary sonics and immersive sonic landscapes.

Rip The Cut (Dubfire remix) (7:27)
Rip The Cut (Luke Slater remix 2) (6:26)
Rip The Cut (The Lady Machine remix) (6:31)
Review: 11 years after it first featured on Luke Slater's fifth album as Planetary Assault Systems, 'Rip The Cut' has been given the remix treatment. Slater provides two reworks of his own: the deliciously creepy, distorted and subtly intergalactic 'Remix 1'- all locked-in techno grooves, echoing bleeps and trippy vocal samples - and the brilliant breathless 'Remix 2', whose epic percussive breakdown and build could create pandemonium on the dancefloor. Elsewhere, sometime Deep Dish man Dubfire adds locked-in melodic loops to Slater's beefy beats, while the Lady Machine revision is a weighty slab of gnarled industrial techno.

Review: Detroit legend Jeff Mills' returns with an exciting new LP, and as always, there's a deep concept behind it. Mind Power Mind Control explores various techniques used for mind control, the deceptive techniques devised for such purposes and its power over people. Similarly, the music on offer here is incredibly hypnotic - this is a Mills album after all - with each track's complex sonic tapestry sure to entrance you. All of The Wizard's idiosyncrasies are on offer: immaculately programmed 909 rhythms underpin majestic strings and sublime tones, all delivered with his trademark style of futurist minimalism. While less dancefloor oriented than some of this revered DJ's previous releases, it's awe-inspiring nonetheless. Essential listening.

Optic Flow (6:17)

Perception Of Time (5:38)
Review: It's time to strap in for another ride around Planet 3030, this time with Acid Synthesis as your pilot. Theer are zero prizes for guessing the style son offer here: right from the opening cut the acid lines begin to warp themselves around you over icy techno pulses. 'Optic Flow' then brings a more rugged 303 line that is stretched and skewed over dubby, bulbous drums and 'Acid' then gets down and dirty with a nice menacing lead and haunting pads off in the distance. Last of all, 'Perception Of Time' cuts loose on far-sighted pads and bendy bass, taught kicks and a nice heady sense of soulful futurism.

Review: Underground Resistance is one of the last true and proper connections to the original techno scene that we have left. While many of the early pioneers have sold out, released the same old tricks or become heritage acts, this label and collective never quits looking forwards. Spoken-word artist Mike Ellison is behind this EP, which is one of three the label has out in March, including a remastered reissue of the 2004 single 'Windchime' by Perception and Mike Banks. This is warm, soulful house meets techno with pensive lyrics and plenty of dynamite rhythms for the dance floor. It comes in various different and equally effective mixes.

The He-Men - "Evolution 1" (6:16)
Marino - "Rave Alarm" (6:44)
Review: When it comes to retro-futurist, analogue-rich gems inspired by turn-of-the-'90s electronic music, there's no more reliable outlet than Tone Dropout. The label's latest drop - their tenth multi-artist extravagana - is once again packed with cuts that sound like they could have been made in 1990 or '91. Boss man Dawl kicks things off with a cracking fusion of punchy electro and bleep & bass ('Into Andromeda'), before Escape Earth deliver a dash of acid-flecked breakbeat hardcore ('Impact Event') and Kiddmisha explores acid-electro pastures on 'Retrodance'. The body popping fun continues apace on side B opener 'Evolution 1', a punchy electro club cut from The He Men - before Marino draws things to a close via the rumbling bass, skittish breakbeats and moody chords of 'Rave Alarm'.

Tiger's Eye (11:38)
Orgonite (6:00)
Orgonite (Riding The Waves) (6:21)
Review: Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore and Tokyo's Ene Records have come together once again to present the music of Solidair. The duo of Cocktail alumni Luigi Di Venere and Jules Etienne present three tracks aimed to induce a dance floor hypnosis. Orgonite (Riding the Waves) does just that, a slow build awash in the ebb and flow of acid tinges, just enough to wet your whistle on a Saturday night. The original mix keeps the skeletal support but throws in a life preserver of 8 bit gaming synthesis. Frisky arps call and respond to each other before making way for sinewy pads to lift off. Tiger's Eye sets itself onto cruising speed incorporating elements of late 90's acid techno with the sleek and smooth clubbing aesthetics of modern day Berlin.

Insanely Alive (Pet Shop Boys radio edit) (3:38)
Insanely Alive (3:50)
Review: Although better known as a photographer and artist, Wolfgang Tillmans has released quite a few rather good records in recent times, with experimental, ambient-influenced synth-pop LP Moon In Earthlight, which dropped earlier this year, one of the most impressive. This 12" features one of the highlights of that set, the sparkling, sci-fi synth-pop joy of 'Insanely Alive', is given a single release. The fine original mix (track four) is given an even more joyous, dancefloor-centric revision by fellow veterans the Pet Shop Boys, who brilliantly re-frame it in their image whilst retaining Tillmans' vocals and cheery melodies. The other rework, the Total Freedom and Sami Baha Spooky Curse / Special Blessing Mix, joins the dots between ambient, synth-pop and mutant dancehall. The track's twisted analogue bass is particularly weighty.

ETA Infinity (Warm mix) (12:40)
ETA Infinity (Frenzy mix) (11:17)
Review: Levon Vincent returns to his beloved Novel Sound imprint with a sturdy two-tracker here titled 'ETA Infinity', which is described as being reminiscent of 'Limelight-era NYC street techno beats'. On the A side, you've got the dubby, greyscale stomp of the Warm mix which is loaded directly off the factory floor - proper basement vibes on this one. Over on the flip is the linear and hypnotic redux of the Frenzy mix, letting that steely melodic bass line in the vein of classic Basic Channel lead the way.

Review: Token's label head Kr!z steps up to the legendary Blueprint label with what is only his second ever solo EP, despite the fact that he has been DJing all over the world for 20 odd years. The Ghent, Belgium producer is someone who operates at the dark, heavy and gloomy end of the spectrum with plenty of raw sounds and mind melting synths making his tunes so impactful. There is plenty of that on this EP which also has a hint of 90s minimalism. On that tip, 'Neutrino Systems' is a real standout with its bleeping and pulsing drums, bass and synth all offering a stark futuristic sound that it is easy to get lost in.

Review: There's no mucking about on this latest Token 12" from Ignez, who pairs things right back to only the most core essentials. 'Aura' is super tight and economical but still hugely atmospheric with its clipped kicks and dry hits overlaid with a chopped vocal sound. 'Warrior One' is another one with plenty of pent up kinetic energy in the chattery claps and melodies that dart about the mix like a kid with ADHD. 'Nadi' is then designed to keep you looking over your shoulders while you dance on the tips of your toes and 'Centaurus' comes on strong with blasts of bass and searching synth work.

Review: Before his work became reduced to a fine slither and he shifted into experimental, concept-driven realms, Jan Jelinek dropped some of the finest early doors micro house as Farben. Originally released on Klang Elektronik and now reissued by Jelinek's own Faitiche label, Textstar is a masterpiece of glitchy sample-based electronics with a subtle, implied funk. In some ways the sound has dated - it's very much of the late 90s-early 00s era it was first crafted in. But it's a sound that still engrosses and intrigues, reveling in microscopic detail and subdued moods while retaining a groove that comes through the best on eternally magnificent cut 'Beautone'.

Code Is The Code (7:30)
Dub Embassy (5:03)
Review: Drumcode titan Adam Beyer is back in business with some of that monolithic sound he's made such a prominent force in global techno. 'Dirty Lagoon' is a slamming monster of a track with daggering rave stabs and hefty kicks to fill any stadium you care to think of. 'Code Is The Code' has a slightly deeper tint, but it's no slouch on the full-fat production all the same. 'Dub Embassy' takes things towards a trancey kind of sound, all swirling synth lines and pinging sound FX, but never too far from that core Drumcode sound we all love so dearly.

Re:Axis & Scalameriya - "Spectra" (5:57)
Review: Portuguese techno powerhouse Re:Axis has been working with Planet Rhythm for over eight years now, presenting a dynamic big room sound across a steady stream of EPs. Now he heads up a new VA 12" with 'Protoportal', a sinewy, seductive workout for those darker corners of the dance which originally came out in 2015 alongside tracks by Petter B. Petter B himself then steps up to rework 'Protoportal', twisting it into a thrumming, heads down weapon with an industrial tinge. VSK's 'Wrap' opens up the B side in a masterful display of contemporary Italian techno before the record rounds out with a collab from Scalameriya and Re:Axis, the knotty, dramatic 'Spectra'.

Hexagram (5:47)
Review: Jack Smooth is the man behind the sounds, which are rooted in classic techno, electro and IDM sounds but with plenty of contemporary stylings. It's a post-rave, acid-laced and breakbeat fuelled comedown to kick off with before 'Evolution' draws out the 303 in bendy, hypnotic fashion over a prickly set of drums. There is more jacked up and angular tackle on 'Exit' then a jungle influenced workout on 'Hexagram' closes in top class fashion.

Review: Enigmatic Berlin collective Italojohnson are back with their first release this year, with more 'simple body soul music' on its 15th release. Three tracks on this one; the A side cut is a right stomper that's perfect for those heads-down moments on the afterhours dancefloor, then over on the flip we've got a dark, trippy DJ tool. Review: Kompakt's Speicher series has always been somewhere to go for more frazzled and textural techno from the Cologne based label. It now arrives at an impressive 121st volume in the form of this split from Extrawelt and 1979. Extrawelt go first with the fizzing synths and dark wave bass of 'Stabilo' designed for maximum impact in the main room. 1979's 'Vulcano' on the flip side is a computer game meltdown with pixelated melodies flashing over a tight and loopy groove. It is controlled chaos and we love it.

Review: Under Black Helmet's 'Impulsive Behaviour' has never made it to vinyl before so this 10" pressing is welcome indeed. It has long been in demand and a secret weapon of many. It's pressed here with 'Void' on the flip which is a rock solid, broken beat monsters. The synths rattle like metal in the wind, howling vocals bring the darkness and make it a perfect cut for vast, grotty warehouse deployment. The standout though is of course 'Impulsive Behaviour' a rolling techno master with buried bass, edgy synths peeling off the linear grover and a real sense of ever building techno momentum.

Review: The tenth record released under Non White, a subsidiary of Spanish techno label Non Series, AIKEN's 12" EP features techno-rave hallmarks that will get feet moving on even the stickiest floor. Rhythmic synth and pounding drums work in tandem beautifully to make you feel like you're really there right in front of those deafening live speaker systems. Review: Life Project is Jason Pearce and D. Foster, an esteemed duo who haven't actually released any new music since 2006. It's good to have them back, here on the cult underground stable that is Albeit Records. Opener 'Animal Instinct' is a stomping tech cut with twisted bass and grubby synth lines. The more squelchy and tripped out 'Time Space Reality' then layers up busted sine waves and spinning hi hats with alien effects and a spaced out minimal vibe. Last of all is the EP highlight - 'Space Mushrooms.' It is a wonky stomper with fresh hits and nice metallic bass that is all bendy and bulbous. Review: Trauma Collective go out all guns blazing with a fierce offering by ascendant Italian producer Sciahriar Tavakoli aka Sciahri (Sublunar Records/Unknot). The Trauma EP is at once an obviously loyal tribute to the imprint platforming him, while being a visceral soundtrack to the gradual setting in of early morning lights. Wasting no time in exercising his sonic assault, opening cut 'Hypnotism' will affect you much like its name suggests on this punishing, splintered- beat body basher, before pummelling you into submission on the strobed-out warehouse techno epic 'Plastic Rain'. He then ventures into the more abrasive shades of texture and gradient on the experimentally minded 'Ava' until getting off-the-grid once more with a descent even deeper into the void, on the knackered closer 'Dead Waves'.
