Shoot The Bar (7:46)
Primary Colours (6:51)
Oliva Funk (6:31)
Review: Florence based label Bosconi is back with 100 Hz aka UK legends Lee Renacre and James Chapman who have been around since the late eighties. This is their second release on the Italian imprint; their Mila EP was their first for the label back in 2009. On the A side we have a re-issue of their 1989 track "Shoot The Bar" a sturdy and cyclical house groove on the tougher side of things with a nice double bass holding the track above a tight rhythm and dreamy Rhodes piano. "Primary Colours" sounds more like minimal, but given more of an edge by all the dusty and lively analogue machines that power it along. Its bumpy bass and restrained synth stabs supporting some simplistic rhythms and works quite well. Finally "Oliva Funk" is more of a classic NYC house cut, those rapid fire cowbell strikes will help it bear even more resemblance to classic Kerri Chandler style vibes.

Review: While he's barely paused for breath in the last decade, it's still been eight years since Fumiya Tanaka delivered his last album, Unknown 3. The epitome of long overdue, You Find The Key is his fourth album. Interestingly, it sees the 44 year-old, Japanese producer tweaking his now familiar bass-heavy minimal techno blueprint. Thrillingly, the bass lines are bolder and jauntier, and the beats jazzier, resulting in an altogether funkier take on the minimal techno style. Of course, there are still moments that recall his previous work - see the deep and dubby "Swallowed Memory" - but it's those that take a sideways step towards funk-fuelled pastures ("Munich Uncertain", "The Only Your Researching") that stand out.

Review: APOENA get his tracks played by names such as Delano Smith, Luke Hess, Agoria, Baby Ford, Jus Ed (etc...) since his first record out. Known to bring groove into deepness, the brazilian producer may be showing his stronger record so far with "Intense EP". The A Side provides prime driving stuff while B Side take the mood to a more profound level.

Accelerator (7:31)
Day 21 (7:35)
Arcadia (7:35)
Review: After setting her stall out via occasional releases over a number of years, Molly Oshana has really kicked on in 2016. Here she delivers the debut release on the Partisan label, serving up a trio of club-ready cuts. She sets her stall out with the fizzing but rolling, vintage tech-house style bubbler "Accelerator", before fusing hazy chords, spitting electronics and chunky, locked-in beats on the futurist techno roller "Day 21". Best of all, though, is flipside "Arcadia", where stylish vocal snippets and lo-fi synth flourishes ride a dirty bass-propelled drum machine groove.

Review: After previous travels through space in the minimal constellation on records for Binh's Time Passages and Vera and Alexandra's Melliflow label, Berlin-dwelling Italian producer lands himself an impressive debut on the mighty Perlon. Fresh off a new Fumiya Tanaka LP and that superb Margaret Dygas 12", Perlon are operating on all cylinders at the moment and this debut Spacetravel LP is a fine addition to the label canon. Some eight tracks deep, the cannily-titled Dancing Therapy already sounds like a future Perlon classic, breezing from hypnotic reduced house ("Kill Divas") to haywire techno deviations via stripped down minimal DJ tools. Dancing therapy indeed!

Love Songs (7:35)
Bloc Via Bow (6:30)
Running Hammock (6:34)
Review: More commonly found lurking around on Ornate and People Are Looking At You, Jonno & Tommo make the leap to Baby Ford's legendary Trelik label with a diverse range of club tracks that highlight their flexibility in the dance. "Love Songs" may be packing a punchy rhythm section, but the dusty vocal sample injects a haunting soul into the framework of the track. "Bloc via Bow" meanwhile keeps things sprightly and notably tech-minded with its catchy lead chord stabs, before "Running Hammock" heads down into a mysterious, jazz-tinted abstraction of deep house, neatly rounding out a strong EP.

Zefzeed - "Coconut Milf"
Cosmjn & Lizz - "Berto"
Direkt - "Drone"
Review: After successful two releases Hoxton Records is back with yet another VA compilation featuring equally talented three producers from Romania. Zefzeed has been behind the decks for over 10 years and producing since 2009. In 2013 he was signed with BodyParts Records and started working with vinyl only record labels. Cosmjn & Lizz duo work speaks for itself as it has already amassed the support from Petre Inspirescu, Barac, New Zau and Sepp. These guys are extremely talented and produce the tracks with inspiring harmonies. Bucharest based producer Direkt is a hidden gem. Being the youngest producer on Hoxton Records label, he is definitely the one to watch. This vinyl only release is showcasing the artist that are creating the music worth collecting.

Eee Something (Tuccillo remix)
Review: Unblock Music comes back again stronger with its reference 003 , Retro City EP, spicing up the electronic with three new cuts of one of its most self-wise producers: Tomoki Tamura , label boss of the mighty Holic Trax. The title track to the EP " Retro City" , with taste of acid house lines , analogue machine and mix of vinyl samples wrestling each other for control , here Tomoki builds an absolutely mental stuff.Among the tracks is "Eee Something" Rmx , this cut reflects the imprint from Unblock label boss Tuccillo , whose eclectic discography has earned him a well deserved international following in the last years old school house sound that allowed to breathe in a warm, enveloping sound, there's not a weak point on here. Finally the " 12 " to listen the "Eee Something" Original and its secret weapon , the intriguing Rmx of Djebali that has its own distinctive flavor full of emotion and musical invention. In this latest offering of Unblock Music.Tuccillo and the camp around him , individually as well as their labels and frequent collaborators are continuously releasing solid electronic music and the result is simply brilliant.

Anbush 46 (Malin Genie remix) (7:24)
My Side Of The Street (6:14)
Review: Bringing that tough-edged Dutch bounce like only he can, Anil Aras returns to Slap Funk with another shipment of forthright deep house righteousness that packs in heads-down techy elements alongside the addictive shuffle of the drums. "Utr" is an unabashed tribute to Aras' hometown of Utrecht that rides high on a killer chord stab, while "Anbush 46" wriggles its way into more minimal territory without losing that hard-grooving spirit. Fellow label regular Malin Genie equally twists up that percussion into a bugging beatdown that harks back to the funkiest threads of the minimal era on his remix before "My Side Of The Street" diverts into sparse 2-step territory.

Review: Although James Burnham aka Burnski has been producing house by the truckload since the mid 00s, DNA is his first LP to date, and it lands courtesy of his own Constant Sound imprint. Across labels like Trapez, 20:20 Vision, and even Poker Flat Recordings, this dude has always stuck to what he does best regardless of passing trends or styles, and that is making quality, tech-driven dance music. Now, make no mistake, this album is still a collection of dance floor scorchers, but the nine tunes make sense next to each other, and they go way beyond the four-to-the-floor remit. There's some swinging garage blazers like "Another Source", hard and progressive house such as "Advanced Knowledge", and even a bit of dirty electro on bangers like "Cosmic Warfare". This is pure quality throughout, and makes for a big step up in Burnski's career. Dope.

Zabava (8:32)
Spogad (6:28)
Zabava (SIT club mix) (8:51)
Zabava (SIT dub mix) (6:34)
Review: Moscow minimalists BodyParts are back everyone: look out! This time around they've drafted Eric to take up the baton. Who's Eric you say? From what we've found out he's Dmitriev Ernest. a Ukrainian DJ/producer/promoter, based in Odessa and this is his vinyl debut. It's not bad either. Opening up with "Zabava" a deep and percussive bass driven groove for the after-hours (or peak time: minimal style!) he goes ultra deep on the dreamy atmospherics of "Spogad" which is utterly sublime. On the flip, the first track gets a remix by Romanian royalty in the form of SIT aka Vlad Caiu and Cristi Cons, whose deep reductionism works a treat on their club mix of "Zabava" while the dub mix up next is reminiscent of the sombre, stripped back hypnotism of masters such as Baby Ford or Thomas Melchior.

Imva
Review: Detroit Wax presents the first EP of a series of three from the Godfather of Techno Soul, Eddie Fowlkes. This first EP DW/0011, deep and classy, is a perfect introduction to the new direction Eddie wants to take. Four tracks that will bring you further into the groove, from a sweaty nightclub to a poetic walk in the woods. Side A is designed as a wonder that starts with the perfect spell, SideA.(1)"No Worries", which creates a unique mood you want to listen to more and more. The second track SideA.(2)"Oriane" is hypnosis itself like a long journey where dance lead to transe. Side B is about dancing, first with SideB.(1)"Stella" where the sound remind us of the classical French Touch sound with the irresistible voice of Eddie on top of that. The last track SideB.(2)" Imva" is going through your body instantaneously and makes you want to let yourself carried by the music. A complete EP, which shows the versatility of the Detroit artist, and will make you chilling as much as dancing!

Review: Apollonia boss Shonky steps up for the label's 25th release and shows just why the label is spearheading a return to mid noughties minimal house sounds as heard on the stripped and reductionist funk of "Plombiere" which is well suited to the after hours while "HouseMe" gets into a raw and jackin' house vibe. On the flip there's some loopy and percussive hypnotism courtesy of "Perchee" which is reminiscent of The Mountain People and the druggy minimalism of "Cosmopolis".

Workshop
Review: Unblock label boss Tuccillo strikes again with another solid release with the EP Black Talk. This is the 5th release on this respected vinyl only imprint that has previously showcased talent such as Tomoki Tamura and Djebali but this time, comes from Tuccillo himself with his unmistakable signature sound.
Headlining track "Black Talk" has a great rolling baseline with plenty of swing with some subtle vocal snippets thrown in here and there.
"Ride on" has a tougher edge with some old school flavours driven by a rhythmic snare with lots of energy perfect for the height of club DJ set
Shopwork offers a more percussive sound over an infectious warm chunky groove, again with some cool short reggae influenced vocal snippets.
A timeless release that can stay in the box.

Review: Active since 2012, London producer East End Dubs has represented all that is healthy in the current techy house scene with a busy DJing schedule augmented by 12" releases across Kote, Act Natural, Dogmatik and others. It wasn't soon after his emergence that East End Dubs founded his own eponymous label and its housed the majority of his output since then. Volume Six arrives of his Tools Series, brandishing four more expertly crafted productions for the DJs out there. All untitled, it's the closing cut that really hits the spot thanks to those searching, hazy keys.

Review: Bucharest's Cristi Cons and Germany's DeWalta have previously served up killer EPs on the latter's Meander imprint (based out of Berlin) but this is their first collaboration and it works surprisingly well. Their unique sounds individually combine to rather interesting effect. The dubby and haunting "Within Space" cruises along gracefully with syncopated percussion, rolling bass and ethereal atmosphere. Second track on the flip entitled "Space Between" is more uptempo with its rolling bass, immersive pads and swing fuelled rhythm supporting a lovely spoken word narrative. There is also a dub version for those of you less keen on the monologue.

Review: Josh Brent's Schatrax imprint is responsible for some of the most seminal techno and house from the nineties and we're glad to see that the new generation now appreciates his stuff too; about time! He re-issues some legendary tracks from his back catalogue for the heads. "Restless (dub)" is some nefarious dancefloor drama in the vein of Detroit legend Suburban Night's earlier stuff. The gorgeous ambient house excursion "Mists Of Time" delves into the exotic wonderfully while "Aliena's Journey" (originally released on the self titled 1998 album)" is a serving of soulful and emotive deep house that's as good as anything Fresh 'N Low were going at the time as well.
