Hide The Tears (5:34)
Dark Horse (6:41)
Fade To Red (feat Trickykid & DRS) (5:34)
Desire (6:07)
Review: Just when you thought Soul:R's Fourfit collection couldn't get any better... Along comes Seba with four delicious pieces of emotion-rich but heavily weighted drum & bass soul. "Hide The Tears" is a real star-gazer with evocative, almost trance-like chord changes, "Dark Horse" has a techno-like attitude with its eerie topline that flickers and weaves amid the ever-mutating drums, "Fade To Red" switches the drum arrangement to create space for DRS and Trickykid who bounce bars over a paranoid, tripletty halftime groove. "Desire" closes the show with filtered stabs that are slightly reminiscent of Basement Jaxx's "Fly Life". Balanced by oceanic chords and velvet Owens-level vocals, Seba's range and depth is clear for all to witness. Again.

Mark System - "You Gave Up My Love" (5:44)
Fracture - "Tunnel Track" (Mark System remix) (6:27)
Review: Wow, have we really had to wait five years for a new Mark System 12" on Warm Communications? Apparently so! You Gave Up My Love arrives with the Juno office stereo still giving Mark System's Final Approach LP for Exit some rotation and is a rather sublime slab of modern bass science. The title cut leads the way, pairing off the gentle vocals against the deep subs and enveloping basslines with instant classic results. Complementing this, the B side finds System squaring up against a Warm Comm classic in the shape of Fracture's "Tunnel Track" which flushes out the original's claustrophobic haze and lays down a luscious arrangement in its place whilst retaining some grit.

Lava (5:57)
Lie To Me (5:59)
Review: It's been years since John B last fronted a Headz release - 15 to be precise - but there is no other label these three tracks would be more at home on. Techstepping back to his earliest visions, "Lava" is a straight up spring back to 1998 in new trainers. Stark, grimy and heads-down, it pays homage to one of drum & bass's most innovative eras. "Lie To Me" reminds us of John's inability to sit still creatively with the jazzy, almost "Brand New Funk" style dynamics of "Lie To Me". Finally we hit "The Colossus". One of John's secret weapons since Sun & Bass 2015, it's an ugly piece of uncompromised machine funk with all the bass groans and cymbal splashing you could ever ask for. Arguably John's best release this decade.

Satl - "Joy" (5:58)
In Deed - "Midnight Groovin'" (6:20)
Kasper & Satl - "Mr Funky" (6:02)
Malaky - "Gone Away" (5:38)
Review: Fokuz's deeper, atmospheric sub-label Expressions comes of age with its 18th release. Gathering old friends and new, it's another liquid odyssey with departures in slick classic rollers and soul fusion. Sati sets the scene with the flute-firing liquid sprinkles of "Joy" while In Deed provide a timeless Innerground-style sax-tickled soul hymn. Kasper & Sati's "Mr Funky" conjures up memories of Andy C & Shimon's "Nightflight" era while Malaky provides the final sentiment with the sub-heavy, filtered funk rolls of "Gone Away". Unforgettable.

New Era (4:33)
New Era (VIP mix) (4:34)
Review: The start of what many fans are hoping will eventually be an album later this year, Andy C let rip into 2016 with a brand new jump-up party track that smacks of "Twist 'Em Out" era jump up mischief (before things got a little too silly on that side of the genre). Now finally enjoying a vinyl outing, its ballsy sub matches the spiky riff with a dynamic that was seemingly written with wax in mind. The VIP is an interesting approach too; rather than being wilder than the original, it's actually deeper and more heads-down. Classic Andy C subversion... Let's hope it does build to an album.

Overdose (5:55)
Ultron (Mefjus remix) (4:49)
Review: Busta Rhymes has Flipmode, but Audio has Beastmode! After a slew of heavyweight albums on Virus, Audio is returning to the format with Beastmode forthcoming on the mighty RAM with this 12" sampler the first of many tasters. "Overdose" sets a high marker for the album, finding Audio returning with a brutish, rolling bassline, diced up with gritty drum loops and underpinned by quaking subs. Face down and Audio's signature RAM cut "Ultron" is given the Mefjus treatment, resulting in the sort of techy soundscape the Austrian producer reigns over. Mefjus moulds the original around the unfaltering guns of his peddled drums and wavering bassline.

Phaction - "Stratos" (Total Science remix) (5:19)
Malaky, Satl & Silence Groove - "Skyfall" (6:23)
Review: More 20/20 goodness from longstanding Dutch imprint Fokuz. First up is a Total Science refix of Phaction's 2015 liquid vocal workout "Stratos" where the duo add more weight to the drums, space between the elements and big dubby plunges to the bass. Flip for a brand new original from label mainstays Malaky, Sati and Silence Groove. Blessed with breathy vocals, slinky drums and big washy textures, it's a great warm-up device that builds with cinematic effect throughout.

Stray Bullet (5:14)
Big Tune Again (3:51)
Nothing Left (4:58)
Takes One To Know One (3:38)
False Alarm (4:33)
Review: While Calyx & Teebee have been working together since 1004, 1x1 is their first collaborative full-length excursion for four years. Typically, it hits hard from the start, with the bombastic neuro-funk smasher "Nothing Left" setting the tone. There are plenty more big room bangers, of course, including the ragga-jungle revivalism of "False Alarm", and bowel-bothering heaviness of "Ghetto (feat Doctor)". It's not all straight-up dancefloor filth, though; check, for example, the Police-sampling vocal shuffler "Long Gone", the trap-step wobble of "Cloud 9", and the Hospital style, radio-friendly, festival drum and bass of "Takes One To Know One".

Joe Ford - "Time Is Limited" (5:32)
SpectraSoul - "Glimpse" (feat Dbridge - Ivy Lab remix) (4:41)
Proxima - "Sens8" (4:45)
Review: Friction's Shogun continues its centennial celebrations with four more wonderfully forward-thinking creations. Phace lets his hair down on "Mumbo Jumbo" where a grungy rolling groove provides deep layers and levels of dark funk. Joe Ford gets all cosmic and spacy with his Chords-style "Time Is Limited" while Ivy Lab buss up one of SpectraSoul's most delicate songs to date with subtle weight and spaciousness. Finally Proxima closes the show with alarmingly gritty halftime groove and a riff that sounds like the devil smashing up the church bells.

Your Love (Scar mix) (4:53)
Philth & Wreckless - "The Circle" (5:53)
Your Love (2016 re-master) (5:59)
Review: Over two years have passed since Philth made his Dispatch debut with "Your Love". In that time he's torn new ones on a whole gamut of labels to develop a reputation as one of the UK's most reliable underground operators. Here we find him returning to Ant TC1's imprint with a fresh Wreckless collaboration: "The Circle" is a distortion-laden groaner that's anchored by a punctuated two-step and a wafts of ghostly sound design. Elsewhere the evangelistic tones and textures of "Your Love" enjoy a cheeky modern remaster and a subverted, barbed twist from the currently unstoppable SCAR.

Driftwood (5:15)
All That I Need (feat Pat Fulgoni) (5:11)
Rhode House (4:49)
Blacklist (6:10)
Review: Both BCEE and Villem are no strangers to the art of collaboration, with plenty of co-production credits in their respective discographies as well as the odd track and remix cut together. If you've been a fan of these BCEE and Villem hookups, you will be right behind their new endeavour, The Vanguard Project. Presumably the first of several releases, The Vanguard Project Vol 1 naturally comes via BCEE's own Spearhead label and finds the pair traversing some truly luxurious drum and bass soundscapes. Of the four tracks here, most heads will be drawn to "Driftwood" and "Rhode House", with the latter's supple, warm piano tones, crisp drums and heat treated bassline marking it out as our favourite.

Seamless (feat Zero T) (5:35)
Get To Know (feat Riya) (4:31)
Review: Fresh from Villem's Vanguard Project with Spearhead bossman Bcee comes another five star collaborative EP. Here the serial tagteamers lay down four stunning originals that represent and explore all sides of the D&B dance: "No More Games" and "Seamless" are the big dream rollers with hazy chords and persistent grooves while Riya's appearances offer a more soulful approach: "Dance With Me" leans and spins around "LK" level nylon string guitars while "Get To Know" takes us on a much more honest, emotional trip. Beautiful.

Digital & Response - "Lost Life" (6:08)
Digital, Mad Vibes & Audio Habitat - "Rise" (5:24)
Digital & Klute - "Lightworks" (5:03)
Digital & Total Science - "Catch" (feat Sofi Mari) (4:31)
Review: An album so heavy in collaborative and sonic proportions, Digital's given us a week to recover between sessions. Part two continues the same broad-screen vein of creative form as we glide from meanie heads-down rollers ("Lost Life") to digidub halftime ("Rise") to raw tech grit ("Lightworks") before climaxing with the immense jazz swing of "Catch". Penned with Total Science, it's one of the most striking collaborations from the album due to the fact it sounds like neither party could create solo. Easily Digital's biggest project over his 25 year career, make sure you check the whole 16 track project.

GLXY - "I Want 2 VIP" (4:09)
Northern Zone - "Soul Is Still The Same" (4:08)
Review: Belgian deep stable Limitless fix up for spring with two revisitations and a brand new original. First up Chris.SU takes the reins of Phase's 2013 gem "Walk Alone" adding a little scuffy, scratchy grit to the main bass riff. Currently hyped UK duo GLXY VIP the dickens out of last year's "I Want U 2" while German newcomer Northern Zone delivers a breezy stepper that's peppered with layers of cascading instrumentation and a powerful vocal sample. Beautiful.

Digital & Spirit & Om Unit - "Skull" (5:34)
Digital & Nimine - "Jungle Jaw" (5:40)
Digital & Kiat - "War" (5:24)
Review: Synthesis is the fourth Digital album and it might be his most ambitious undertaking yet! The album's sixteen tracks see the UK producer working alongside a swathe of high profile contemporaries. The danger with projects such as this, is the lack of cohesion and binding theme but its clear Digital conceived Synthesis as a display of all that's good in the current scene. The first in a series of 12" samplers features Digital's Phantom Audio partner Spirit prominently; the pair team up for opener "Stolen Desire" and add the mighty Om Unit into the studio mixer on the deep and deadly "Skull". Flip it over and Nomine lands a hefty blow of junglist bliss alongside Digital with "Jungle Jaw" and the Niat collaboration "War" closes it out in style.

My Soul (5:16)
My Soul (Danny Scrilla remix) (5:30)
Review: Halogen tee-up some vinyl only justice with the perfect partnership of Ilk & Etch. Clearly both intimate with their breaks and both boasting a strong nose for a smart sample, everything about "My Soul" screams classic jungle as the drums brush in all directions, the sample turns itself inside and the subs ripple and wave beneath it all. For a little drum subversion jump on Scrilla's twist. Soulful.

Jade & State Of Mind - "Respirator" (5:37)
Dub Elements - "Pow" (5:39)
Review: Monstrous tech from the leading label in neuro right now.... First up we find label bossman Jade teaming up with New Zealand herberts State Of Mind for the 1.21 gigawatt shock-out "Respirator". With a metallic dynamic to the bass that punches with singular and refuses to sustain and drown out the whole track, it punches with a refreshing energy. Spanish duo Dub Elements take care of the flip with a denser damager that comprises four basslines, each one carefully layered and positioned to create a clear but vicious punch.

Infection (5:41)
Let It Go (5:38)
Review: Already a surefire 2016 shatter-fest via its January digital release, Optical & BTK's double-A finally enjoys a vinyl release in all its heavyweight glory. "Infection" is an unfettered neuro heads-down roller with bass textures that sound like they're made of pure electricity. Flip for the truly schizophrenic "Let It Go" where a jump-up dynamic is carried by a frazzled bass, truckloads of FX and drum rolls that teasingly go on for longer than they really should. Properly mental.

Optiv & BTK - "Antimatter" (4:49)
Agressor Bunx - "Burn" (5:19)
Review: Neuro legends old and new: Optiv & BTK lead the charge with "Antimatter", a loose, funky example of toxic funk. Whether you focus on the extensive, tub-thumping rolls, the psy-like arpeggio or the twenty tonne bassline, there's so much detail in here you could get lost for days. Flip for a lesson from Ukraine duo Agressor Bunx as "Burn" shakes with a reece that's reminiscent of early Bad Company, drums that nod towards Misanthrop's methodology and a breakdown that guarantees some serious rabbit hole action. See you on the other side.
