  1. Heaven (Blawan dub)
  2. Heaven (Owlle remix)
  3. Heaven (Steps To Heaven voxdub)
  4. Heaven (Matthew Dear vs Audion instrumental mix)
Review: Legendary UK band Depeche Mode signal their return with Heaven, a 12" prelude to their 13th studio album Delta Machine which arrives brandishing four remixes that reflect their highly respected profile. Any record that features Blawan and Matthew Dear on remix duties is big news and both artists excel here; the former indulging his thick set claustrophobic wall rattling tendencies on a Dub version that submerges Dave Gahan's sad refrain deep in the murk. Matthew Dear offers another sly nod to his split musical personalities with one of his trademark "Vs Audion" efforts whilst The Orb's Thomas Fehlman introduces a new alias in Steps To Heaven. Look out for the charmingly dramatic revision from French newcomer Owlle too!

Review: Pulsar sees Gianluca Salvadori and Leonardo Ceccanti return to Claremont 56 with a second LP of sanguine and psychedelic dub disco under the Almunia name. Arriving roughly two years after Salvadori and Ceccanti served up the sublime Almunia debut long player New Moon, this new album sees the pair of tracks released last year (the excellent title track and "The Magician") complemented by six all new productions. From the heavenly acoustic strumming of opening track "The Awakening" Almunia remain locked in a mood where refined instrumentation is balanced perfectly with a chugging soft edged disco sensibility with the buoyant "Views From A Blue Train" a particular highlight.

  4. Wrottersley Road (Invisible Hands reprise)
Review: The latest Emotional Response release provides something very special indeed, in the form of a new track from under the radar psychedelic rock musician Nick Nicely. Nicely has been making music from the 70s onwards, but his music has recently undergone something of a critical reappraisal, with the likes of Robert Wyatt and Robyn Hitchcock supposedly inspired by his work; "Wrottersley Road" provides the ideal entry into his music, a masterful piece of shoegaze pop filled with fuzzed out guitars and Eastern psychedelic tones. Remixes are provided by Invisible Hands, who provide a minimal 80's inspired electro-pop version, which comes saturated in radiophonic textures, and The Oscillation, who take the track into even more abstract ambient territory than the original, deep into a place where time seems to stand still entirely, drawing its rich textures out into infinity.

Review: Back in 2011, Nicolas Jaar joined forces with fellow Clown & Sunset contributor Dave Harrington for the Darkside EP, an impressive trio of untitled tracks that pitted the formers scratchy, near-paranoid production style against the latter's penchant for lo-fi indie-rock inspired fuzziness. Here, the duo dusts down the Darkside alias once more for a first collaborative album. Predictably, it's an impressive set, offering a collection of downtempo tracks that shuffle between crackly, out-there atmospherics ("Sitra", reminiscent of much of Jaar's Space is Only Noise album), echo-laden alt-rock experimentalism ("Heart") and heart-aching fragility (the James Blake-ish "Greek Light").

Review: The much delayed and even more awaited Spike retrospective from Golf Channel is finally here! For the uninitiated, Spike Wolters was responsible for a series of self released albums in the early 80s recorded using all manner of primitive drum machines, synths and guitars which resulted in some of the most diverse FX laden, ahead of it's time music. Mentioned in hushed tones by feverish record traders for years to come, Spike's work was first introduced to the wider world by Golf Channel in 2011, with the New York label issuing Magic Table, a 12" featuring some of the Dutchman's compositions backed with remixes from Thomas 'Welcome Stranger' Bullock. Fast forward several years and the label has finally issued Orange Cloud Nine, a sixteen track retrospective which draws from the four albums Wolters recorded in the 1980s. Like most Golf Channel output, it's a must not least for the in-depth sleeve notes from Test Pressing's Japan-based DJ and record collector Rob Harris and the the visually striking artwork by Perks & Mini's co-founder Misha Hollenbach
