Review: Emotional Rescue label boss Stuart Leath is particularly excited about this release, and it's not hard to see why. While Spanish singer/songwriter Javier Bergia is not widely known in the UK, his releases - either solo, or as part of the Finas Africae and Arium Musicae groups - are held in high regard by those of a Balearic persuasion. Eclipse is something of a treat, gathering together the best of Bergia's solo work from 1985 to the present day. Featuring Bergia's spoken and sung vocals atop a mix of gentle acoustics, atmospheric strings, delay-laden percussion and subtle global rhythms, Eclipse impresses from start to finish. It should be essential listening for anyone with even the tiniest interest in Balearica.

Review: Given that Paul "Mudd" Murphy, Ben Smith, Ursula Major and krautrock legend Holgar Czukay debuted their Bison project back in 2010, this debut album has been a long time coming. Happily, it was worth the wait. Recorded at Czukay's legendary Cologne studio and featuring mix-downs from Conrad Idjut, Travellers is a particularly dubwise trawl through hazy, krautrock-influenced disco and horizontal Balearica. By anyone's standards, it's a deliciously intergalactic concoction; a fearlessly atmospheric blend of low-slung grooves, delay-laden horns, quirky percussion, stargazing electronics and mesmerizing, eyes-wide-shut vocals. Pleasingly, this CD version also includes a pair of fine extended versions of former single "Mandy" by Mudd, of which the intoxicating Dub is particularly potent.

Review: It's been some 12 years since San Francisco deep house don Miguel Migs released his fine debut album, Colorful You. In truth, his subsequent albums have failed to match the dizzy heights attained by this Naked Music-era beauty. It's for this reason that Dim Division is such an enjoyable listen. In it, Migs - assisted by an impressive line-up of guest vocalists (including Tim Fuller, Lisa Shaw and Omar) - returns to his roots, laying down a series of effortlessly soulful tracks blessed with his usual dub-flecked deep house production, shimmering electrofunk influences and vibrant synthesizer riffs. It's a thing of simple beauty, and undoubtedly his best work for some time.

Review: Having released just one seminal 12" on Chain Reaction back in 2001, Shinichi Atobe was tracked down by Demdike Stare only to be found with a vast vault of unreleased material. This double-pack release brings together some cherry-picked morsels from this haul, shedding fresh light on the mysterious and alluring sound of an almost forgotten Japanese producer. There are more obtuse noise and industrial moments such as "Free Access Zone 4", while other moments are full of sweet and crisp house grooves with wistful atmospherics. The diversity on offer is quite something, but whatever style is tackled, Shinichi Atobe brings a haunting quality to bear on his music.

Review: Whether he's producing as 2562 or A Made Up Sound, new material from Dave Huismans is always met with a sense of expectation. Things get magnified further when you consider The New Today is the Dutch producer's first LP in three years under the 2562 name! The landscape has changed considerably since 2011's Fever, but listening to this eight track set you feel Huismans is still marching to his own beat as opposed to following others. Conceived over six weeks in New York last year and committed to tape in his Utrecht studio, The New Today sees the Dutchman draw from past sounds like "European synth experiments, new age tapes, musique concrete, krautrock, post punk" to weave whole new electronic patterns in a manner that sounds so very 2562. In other words, it's fckn great!

Review: Arriving with some truly mind bending artwork from controversial guro manga artist Shintaro Kago, the new Flying Lotus album You're Dead! Is quite alot to take in upon first listen. Some nineteen tracks deep, Steven Ellison uses all the available space to draw you deep into the afterlife as he sees it, veering through heavily psychedelic jazz passages and next level beat explorations that demand you pay full attention. The iconic Herbie Hancock leads a high profile cast of contributing artists to Fly Lo's fifth studio LP and his most ambitious to date with Kendrick Lamar, Captain Murphy, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat and Niki Randa also adding to what is a transcendental listening experience.

Review: Some four years after Swims brought the work of Dan Snaith to the attention of a whole new audience, the London-based Canadian artist returns with a sixth Caribou album entitled Our Love. Staunch followers of Caribou will know that Snaith tends to adopt different sonic approaches with every long player (compare the psychedelia of Up In Flames with the more spaced out Andorra) but this latest album feels like a natural development of the club influenced sounds of Swims. City Slang call it Snaith's most soulful set yet, and that's certainly helped by the presence of compatriot Jessy Lanza, and like all Caribou albums there is something new that appeals with every listen.

Review: After the meteoric impact of his self-released singles and spots on Hessle Audio, Power Vacuum and Bleep, the electronic music world has been waiting patiently for TJ Hertz to step up and share a wider vista of his sound world. This debut LP for PAN does not disappoint, channelling the electronica quality of his most crushing club music and giving it a chance to roam that bit more freely. The beats still hit hard on the likes of "Ratchet", but that's not their only purpose. With sound design and general production fireworks at the forefront, whether you can dance to this or not is unimportant; what matters is how completely edge-of-your-seat thrilling it is to listen to, from every space age sweep to each grubby reverb impulse. We always knew he had it in him, and Objekt has more than delivered on that promise.

Review: Since signing Bournemouth duo Ulterior Motive to his Metalheadz imprint last year, Goldie has acted as a kind of mentor, supervising the recording of this debut album. In many ways, it makes a lot of sense; Ulterior Motive's brand of jungle-influenced drum and bass no doubt appeals to the producer-turned-celebrity's rave sensibilities. The Fourth Wall is a confident and engaging debut, with spangling, piano-laden rave moments - see the early '90s revivalism of "Tape Pack" - nestling side by side with dark, twisted rollers and deeper, more experimental fare. It's this latter strand - and most particularly the James Sutherland collaboration "Muted" - that makes The Fourth Wall such an impressive debut.

Review: This is a significant moment in the development of Michael "Huxley" Dodson. Following six years building his reputation via a constant trickle of singles, the London-based producer has finally delivered a debut album. It's a little more expansive and varied than many of his singles, and variously touches on many of his regular inspirations - UK garage, deep house and bumping techno, in particular - as well as some he's not previously explored (see the pitched-down rave breaks of "Give 2 U" and the "Circles"-ish liquid D&B of "MXR"). The result is a polished, floor-friendly set that impressively straddles the line between club tracks and home listening fodder.

This momento of the tour features live recordings - mostly taken from shows in London and Croatia, with a couple of radio sessions thrown in - and a DVD packed with both concert and documentary footage. It's a great package, all told, and musically, some of it is stunning - a delicious blend of string-drenched, jazz-flecked songs, picturesque acoustics and enveloping, dancefloor-friendly instrumentals. "We Could Forever" and the throbbing, ever-growing finale, "Know You", are particularly special.

Review: The name Roger Semsroth will be eminently familiar to fans of monotonal, bleep laden techno thanks to his canon of material as Sleeparchive for his own label, Tresor, Repitch and more. Prior to becoming the staple of Berlin techno he now is, Semsroth was creating child like melodies and toy tones as Skanfrom, a project which now returns to Jason Amm's Suction Records for the first time in 12 years. Combine themes tunes and motifs from the original Zelda video game with the sounds of older Rephlex and Skam Records and you are somewhere close to understanding what Postcards, this new Skanfrom album, sounds like.

Review: It's been seven long years since Stuart MacMillan and Orde Meikle last donned their Slam guise for a full-length outing. That album, 2007's Human Response, was something of a disappointment. Happily, Reverse Proceed is anything but. Kicking off with a quartet of rich, atmospheric ambient cuts before heading into immersive techno territory with "Synchronicity" and "Ghosts of Detroit", MacMillan and Meikle appear to have got their mojo back. It's a feeling that intensifies as the album progresses, with the warped acid funk of "Pattern A3", "Factory Music" and the "Rotary" offering flashbacks to well-loved Slam anthems of old. In fact, Reverse Proceed could well be their strongest album to date - and that's some claim.

Review: There's no denying that Dubnobasswithmyheadman was a landmark electronic album. It marked Underworld's progression from electro-pop also-rans to festival headling techno titans, thanks in no small part to the addition of DJ/producer Darren Emerson to the line-up. This 20th anniversary box set gives the album the treatment it deserves, with a fully re-mastered version of the album being joined by four bonus CDs. While two of these discs feature previously heard material - one disc of singles from the period, another of lesser-known remixes - the other two are of more historical interest. Disc four is particularly illuminating, boasting as it does a swathe of unreleased recordings and demos from the period (including early versions of "Dark & Long" and "Mmm Skyscraper I Love You"), while the final disc presents a live rehearsal recorded in the band's home studio in 1993.

Review: Blackest Ever Black's unwavering commitment to gracing 2014 with some of the most distinct sounds continues apace as their latest long player sees the return of William Bennett's Cut Hands project. Entitled Festival Of The Dead, this new album feels like the next logical progression in the Cut Hands sound, with the label describing it as "most potent distillation yet" of Bennett's "malign percussive energy". If you checked lead track "The Claw" which was made available to stream when BEB first announced the album, you will no doubt have an idea of what to expect but this relentless, bracing approach shown there is not the only card played by Bennett across the album. Indeed it's the moments where the sonics get twisted and chewed up (such as the suitably named "Parataxic Distortion") that prove most memorable.

Review: Boom! Finally another reissue of Boards Of Canada's seminal Hi Scores LP from 1996! Along with the likes of Aphex Twin, LFO and Squarepusher, these guys have helped to define how we see electronic music today and this particular LP is arguably their most complete when it comes to the dancefloor. The title track is a twisted, floaty bindle of breaks and beats, but it doesn't end there. Tracks like "Nlogax" are inherently Detroitian in nature thanks to the bleepy drum machines inside, and all we can say is that if you haven't laid hands on this album yet, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to cop it now. It's still so relevant and contemporary, it hurts.

Review: If the 2 Bears debut album, Be Strong, was a rush-inducing sprint through kaleidoscopic rave, bass music and off-kilter dance-pop influences, this follow-up is a much more relaxed and loved up affair. While Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell continue to blend styles at will - from midtempo Balearic breaks, organ-laden retro soul and soundsystem reggae, to classic disco soul (see "Ubuild It", which appears to be built around samples from Patti Jo's "Make Me Believe In You"), Italo and wide-eyed deep house ("See You") - the overall effect is more calming and radio-friendly than sweaty and dancefloor-centric. It's a clever switch, and one that mnakes The Night is Young a much more well-rounded and mature set than its' acclaimed predecessor. In other words, it's a superb, surprisingly soulful dance-pop set.

Review: It would be fair to say that Krystian Shek is something of a disciple of the late, great ambient maestro Pete Namlook. Shek was a regular on the German producer's Fax imprint for a number of years, and this sixth album - his first since 2010 - is being released by Carpe Sonum, a label established in Namlook's honour. You can hear the influence of Namlook's beguiling, dream-like style throughout Sometimes Not, with heavenly textures, drawn-out chords, quiet pianos and disconnected spoken word samples rubbing shoulders with gentle beats and yearning rhythms. It's a combination that provides multiple highlights, from the melancholic organs and chiming melodies of the title track, to the lively, ambient-goes-dubstep bounce of "Whiteout".

Review: There has been a healthy amount of ambient music issued on Mule Musiq lately, with the forthcoming Lawrence album sure to turn a few heads. In the mean time Minilogue's Sebastian Mullaert has linked up with Israel's Eitan Reiter to produce this sumptuous album of mellow tones for the home-listening crowd. There are some beat-powered moments scattered throughout the album, from the brooding acid throb of "Ash Layla" to the hyper-reduced minimal thrust of "No Escape (Kick)" but these moments still manage to stay in the quieter end of the spectrum. Elsewhere beatless orchestrations waft from the speakers in a state of melancholic magnificence that marks this album as a runaway success for both artists.

Review: It's been a bit too long between drinks for krautrock-influenced pop combo Von Spar, whose last album, Foreigner, dropped way back in 2010. Back then, the Cologne based band were being lauded from all sides, with Can's Irmin Schmidt and Jaki Liebezeit being particularly vocal supporters. It is likely that Streetlife, their belated fourth album, will be similarly acclaimed. Musically, it offers nods to krautrock, synth-pop, the Balearic pop of Laidback, and Kompakt style "ambient pop", as well as occasional forays into more uptempo, disco-flecked territory (see the thrilling "One Human Minute", arguably the album's high point).

Review: Always one to charge into more interesting corners of the techno world, Adam X is in fine fettle as he drops his latest album for Sonic Groove, the first on his own label since 1998's Audiobiography. The tone is very much stout and stern, from the industrial-tinged drum hits to the cold and eerie synth content, but of course it's in the rhythmic department where X really shines. At every turn there are intriguing grooves to latch onto, from the drunken lope of the title track with its anthemic hip hop vocal rip, to the opening broken techno drama of "Interchanges". There are more stripped down moments such as the restrained cycles of "Catenary", and some piston pumping bangers like "On The Verge Of Decimation", making this an engaging listen as well as a great collection of techno tracks.
