Review: Last time it was only Omar S that could do it; this time he's thanking us for letting him be Omar S. That's right the FXHE boss returns with an eagerly awaited new album brandishing some 14 tracks. Omar S albums naturally tend to sell themselves but, for those still curious, Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself sounds like a perfectly executed culmination of the ideas AOS has explored on the numerous 12"s since his last album. As soon as the crunchy mechanical dramatics of opening track "I'll Bring U Ah Lil Sumpin Back" launch into action you feel like you're in for quite the journey and the subsequent swerves through Detroit flavoured electro, piano flecked house, beatdown and techno come with satisfaction guaranteed.

Review: Though his career has taken many turns over the last decade, DJ Koze has remained that most illusive of creatures: a minimal-minded producer with an ear for a melody. This fourth full-length, packed to the rafters with big-name collaborations (Apparat, Caribou, Ada and Matthew Dear all feature), continues his move towards the home-listening sphere. So, while many of the heady rhythms and shuffling grooves hark back to his stripped-back past, Amygdala impresses with its woozy songs, genre-straddling fusions (see the modern soul meets deep house of "Homesick" or the steppy, tropical vibes of "Marilyn Whirlwind") and homely atmosphere.

Review: Rumours have been circulating on the Internet that Montreal duo Footprintz have gone their separate ways. If these are to be believed (and they certainly seem to be true), this debut full-length for Visionquest could also be their swansong. If it is, then it's a fine way to go out. Assisted on production duties by the ever-reliable Ewan Pearson, the Canadian pair has delivered a tactile, touchy-feely collection of dream-pop (think Holy Ghost or Benoit & Sergio meets '89 shoegaze) that gleefully breaks free from the shackles of Visionquest's impersonal trademark sound. Woozy, warm and inviting, it should appeal to those who enjoy the work of fellow Canadian synth-poppers the Junior Boys.

Review: Over the years, Italian producer Marcello Giordani has proved to be rather adept at crafting the sort of intoxicating, floor-friendly fodder that can't be easily categorized. As this excellent debut album for Endless Flight proves, he's a dab hand at fusing warm, late night deep house with influences that range from disco and boogie to techno and jazz. Exuding the sort of aural dirt and jazzy warmth that marks out the best Detroit deep house productions (think Moodymann, Rick Wilhite etc), Respect Yourself proves that deep house albums need not be dull and one-paced. In fact, it's the album's most gloriously disco-influenced moment, "Respect Yourself", that really stands out.

Review: Between them, the trio that makes up Triad - brothers Florian and Sebastian Wolters, and friend Henry Lau - has a wealth of experience in electronic music, and particularly within drum and bass. This experience and collective depth of knowledge is there for all to see on Utopia, their debut album. Bound together by a stargazing ethos and a desire to push D&B in new directions, the 16 tracks variously touch on Instra:mental-ish futurist IDM, hip-hop, ambient soundscapes, jungle floorfillers, hypnotic techno (the excellent "Monologue"), ultra-deep house ("Alfa Omega") and wonky beats. Really, such a scattergun approach to styles and tempos should work, but thanks to their love of spacey synths and calming melodies, it all makes perfect sense.

Review: Since first emerging at the tail end of the '90s, Simon Green has become downtempo music's most marketable star, appealing just as much to occasional listeners and 40-something housewives as underground heads. Throughout that time, he's carefully shifted his sound to take in current trends and musical developments, whilst retaining a certain picturesque aesthetic. This fifth full-length, his fourth for Ninja Tune, continues that trend. Amongst the usual shuffling beats and twinkling melodies you'll find garage-esque vocal cut-ups, rubbery dancefloor rhythms, Floating Points style neo-jazz, string-laden two-step and some seriously wonky soul featuring vocals from Erykah Badu.

Review: Joe "Joaquin" Claussell adds some Puerto Rican rhythmics to The Machine's Redhead LP on the Pyramids Of Mars label - also responsible for releasing Vince Watson's conceptual Serene album this year. Claussell remixes six tracks in total with each getting its own side of vinyl real estate. The first mix is the beatless, atmospheric and Foley sound recorded "Continental Drift", while spaced tribalisms hit "Opening Ceremony", with ringing cowbells and noisy backgrounds littering "Leopard Skin". "Spell Bound" is like a futuristic and off-the-cuff blues band jam while "Talking Dolls" takes the release back into known Claussell ethnological territory. "Root People" is the last of Claussell's masterly crafted remixes which boasts more vocals washed in reverb and distant Phil Collins-esque drum solos.

Review: Shout outs to Gerd Janson and Running Back for doing the decent thing and issuing the surprise Syclops LP from the master Maurice Fulton in physical form. Having seemingly abandoned his Syclops pseudonym following the critical and commercial success of the superb 2008 full-length, I've Got My Eye On You, Fulton elected to resurrect it for a surprise sophomore album. Predictably, A Blink of An Eye is a bit good. Picking up where the previous album left off, it delivers a warped fusion of titanium-plated electronics, leftfield acid jack, freestyle jazz flourishes and intergalactic mutant disco. Formidably twisted but hugely enjoyable, it gleefully charges off in many different directions, mixing shirts-off anthems (see the brilliant "Sarah's E with Extra P"), with curious percussion jams (the afro-centric "Jump Bugs") and curiously blissful, Boof-ish excursions ("5 In"). Stellar stuff.

Emotional Conclusion
Review: By now, we've come accustomed to a certain level of quality from Chicagoan deep house veteran Rick Wade. In truth, he rarely gets it wrong, either on his club-focused 12" singles or his deeper, more musically minded long players. This seventh full-length continues this impressive record, offering depth, warmth and emotion in spades. There are occasional bursts of '90s flavour - see the woozy chords, nagging strings and cut-up vocals of "De Luxe" and "Breaking Deep", or the low-end pressure of "Fun Play" - but for the most part Wade concentrates on the intricacies of emotion-rich fluidity. When he really hits the mark - as on the French Horn-encrusted title track, or the bumpin', jazz-wise "Harvest" - With You is simply stunning.

Review: There's plenty to admire about this debut album from Irish combo Le Carousel, not least the intoxicating vocals of one Phil Kieran (yes, he of 'banging techno' fame). Kieran has gone on record as saying that he believes that this is the best music he's made, and we'd struggle to argue. While there's little of the balls-out roughness of his previous work, there's musical complexity, emotional resonance and aural textures aplenty. At times tipsy and psychedelic, at others fuzzy and dreamy, Le Carousel comes on like an unlikely collaboration between the Beach Boys (see the Smile-ish "Forget Me Not"), Brian Eno, My Bloody Valentine and New Order ("Good Times"). Given those influences, it's got to be good, right

Review: London three-piece Vondelpark have been slated for big things ever since the release of their debut EP, Sauna, in 2010. A few setbacks (including the loss of all of the recordings originally slated for their first album) and acclaimed singles later, they aim to fulfill their early promise with this re-recorded debut LP. Their sound - fluid, dreamy, other-worldly and occasionally Balearic - sits somewhere between E'd-up shoegaze, the atmospheric simplicity of James Blake, and the sort of saucer-eyed dream-pop that once used to be the preserve of Brian Wilson. Such effervescence makes for a warm and endearing album, full of emotion-rich songs, subtle soundscapes and wide-eyed grooves. They may not be the finished article just yet, but this is an impressive debut.

Review: Everything about Birmingham-based singer/musician/producer Laura Mvula is striking; her appearance, voice, lyrics and adventurous musical approach all suggest a star in the making. This major label backed debut album, Sing To The Moon, is pretty special, too. It touches on a myriad of styles, from the Charles Stepney/Rotary Connection-ish gospeldelia of "Diamonds" and grandiose "Like The Morning Dew", to the twinkling soul-jazz of "That's Alright" (like Emile Sande, only 100 times better) and mournful strings of the beautiful "She". Throughout, Mvula's voice provides a constant reminder of her immense talents. Atmospheric, entertaining and immaculately produced, it's some debut.

Review: 32 years on from the release of their debut album Speak and Spell, Basildon's finest drop their 14th full length. While there are echoes of their eyeliner-wearing, synth-bothering futurist past (see the glitchy "My Little Universe" and early New Order-ish "Broken", where Dave Gahan sings about 'dreaming of the future'), for the most part Delta Machine finds them in grinchy synth-rock mode, presumably shaking their fists at passing youngsters like a gang of grumpy old men. Thankfully, they're still capable of great things - "Soothe My Soul" has echoes of "Personal Jesus" - and there's enough to suggest there's some life in the old dogs yet.
