Review: The latest missive on Teflon Dons' LA-based Worldship Music imprint takes us back to 1994 and the overlooked, U.S Garage-influenced house productions of Greg 'Ski' Royal, a mixing and mastering engineer who can trace his roots right back to the earliest days of the West Coast hip-hop scene. Flipside "Down Fifth Avenue" - an evocative, bass-heavy chunk of bumpin', riff-loaded late night deep house - first appeared on a little-known EP way back in the '90s, but the A-side versions of "Christopher" have never been released before. In its original form, it's a soulful and seductive chunk of vocal garage/house fusion complete with "Show Me Love" style organ riffs. Those intoxicating and alluring motifs naturally come to the fore on the accompanying instrumental mix.
Review: Scott Boutin aka Blue Soul has been with us since the label was in it's infancy. This 3 song 12" properly showcases Bluesoul's otherworldly dub house acid disco sound that is uniquely his own. Mastered by Dietrich Schoenemann at Complete.
Review: Amadeo Savio is next up on Vigenere, the label that has thus far presented a whole host of unknown names in the field of minimal techno all bound together by a shared classiness in their production style. Savio's approach is deep and dubby on opening cut "Isolat", one primed for the after hours. "Trance Later" has a slightly more forthright approach, but there's still plenty of mellow delights to be found in the synth department to keep you chilling. "Encor" heads into more typically minimal pastures, while "Kassion" explores broken beat patterns and fragmented samples with scintillating results.

Review: It's been a while since Zolta Pal last used the Jaffa Surfa alias. In fact, his last outing under the pseudonym dropped three years ago on Houseworx (the US garage-flavoured Pimpin' EP). This three-tracker happily finds him in fine form, delivering a more tech-tinged trio of aquatic deep house cuts. There's naturally plenty to enjoy, from the subterranean shuffle and liquid melodies of "Bazz" and heavy percussive bump of "Psy Lance" - all thickset, multi-tracked drums, calming pads and fizzing electronics - to the beatless bliss of "Preacha Bonus", which - unsurprisingly given the title - features a deep south preacher chatting over heady ambient chords.

Review: While glassy-eyed, loved-up and overtly dreamy house with notable early '90s references has become something of a cliche of late, that's no criticism of Patrick Holland AKA Project Pablo, one of a small band of producers who helped kick-start the trend a few years back. As this outing on Spectral Sound shows, he's still miles ahead of his rivals. The EP sees him giddily charge between colourful, emotion-rich deep house retro-futurism (the sci-fi sounds and peak-time hustle of opener "The Solution"), swooning, dubby mid-tempo dreaminess ("Pressure No Impact"), jaunty and melodious loveliness ("Big Room Delusion") and the kind of clonky, metallic fare that recalls all manner of classic underground cuts from 1990 ("Pill").
Review: For the latest missive on his reliable Sistrum imprint, Motor City stalwart Patrice Scott has decided to introduce us to Butch Haynes - or at least his productions (Scott has declined to provide further details thus far). What we can tell you is that "Ghost Ego" is really good - a deliciously deep and seductive shuffle through organic deep house/jazz-funk fusion rich in bluesy female vocal samples, rich bass guitar, toasty Fender Rhodes chords, fluid vibraphone motifs and tons of intricate additional percussion. Scott delivers his own deliciously deep, groovy and jazzy house interpretation on side B, adding a whisper of Latin flavour, tasty pianos and liquid synths, while bonus cut "Feelingz" is a head-nodding chunk of Guru style jazzy instrumental hip-hop dopeness.

Review: The first Sex Tags Mania outing of 2019 comes from a familiar face: label regular Skatebard. It's the eccentric Norwegian producer's first outing for the Fett brothers' delightfully quirky house and techno imprint since 2013. He's in druggy late night mode on "Conga", layering dubbed-out U.S garage style organ stabs and warehouse-ready riffs atop a jacking, Chicago house influenced rhythm track. On the flip, Skatebard guests on a live cover of the track by mysterious Sex Tags twosome Crystal Bois. With background crowd noise guaranteeing oodles of atmosphere, the performance is sweaty, druggy, dubbed-out, intoxicating and deliciously saucer-eyed.

"Love is blind" (DNH 50) leads off the EP with warm emotive pads, muted horns and a melancholy vocal sample. The B side continues with Blackman (DNH 49), another signature Holder track featuring an infectious call-to-action spoken word set over Nick's classic 4-to-the-floor drums. We round off the EP with "She likes it (remix)" (DNH 53) This track hits all the right places with its afro styled drums and female vocal/chant throughout.
Review: The re-launched Secretsundaze label continues to spread it's wings with the signing of Lisbon born, London based Silvestre.The push and pull of influences from his own and adopted countries have combined to find him a unique sound that embraces rap, R&B, reggaeton as well as breaks and woozy pads from UK hardcore and house. Mixing samples, his own voice and continuing the fusion of reggaeton and breakbeat/techno from previous releases, the Silvestre Is Boss EP aims for a hazy vibe.AAAs Silvestre explains: The pad and synth choices on this EP are picked specifically to sound dreamy, a dream where you arrive at the club but the party is already finished, which sucks." Silvestre began making his name in 2015 with his first release on the Diskotopia label from Tokyo and followed that up with appearances on Creme Organization and Paraiso. He then dropped the killer 'All The Things' EP of mid-tempo party bangers on his own Padre Himalaya label which reached the top 30 of Phonica's illustrious Singles of the Year list. The Silvestre Is Boss EP is his strongest work to date with 5 tracks of quality floor and headphone directed material that perfectly balances the need for playful melody and harmony with tough grooves and synthetic ambience. Drafted in on remix duty is Secretsundaze fave D.K. (Antinote records) who takes EP heater 'Fuego', dialling down the breakbeats for a smoother trip.
Review: Italian crew Unknown Collective come correct on this latest Purism joint as they drop some seriously bumping deep house heat to get bodies popping with approval. "Nodi" is the consummate A side jam, all exuberant energy and rock solid functionality, just like a DJs best friend should be. "Virgo" is, on the surface, a slinkier affair, but don't be fooled as there's some serious weight in that bassline which will absolutely rock on a proper soundsystem. "Arya" is the dreamier cut on the record - the groove is still solid, but there's a dreamy tone to the pad hovering in the background and the track is sprinkled with all kinds of extra sonic delights to toy with your mind at the hazy end of the dance.
Review: For the 20th release on P.O.D Records, the duo Politics Of Dancing dug out an underground french house classic from Dj Freddy, Emergency Delivery. This long awaited repress is issued with a remix from England's very own Archie Hamilton and label boys themselves Politics Of Dancing.

Review: Politics Of Dancing Records celebrate their 5th anniversary with two various artists vinyls, involving a solid line up of confirmed and promising producers. Here is the second part featuring the talented Chris Stussy, Djoko & T. Jacques, Michael James and Jamahr, all delivering some serious deep house and fine tech house tracks, tailored for demanding dancefloors.
Review: In recent years Fred Peterkin has been focusing on releasing music under his now more familiar Fred P alias rather than the Black Jazz Consortium pseudonym with which he first made his mark back in the late 2000s. Here he dons the latter alias once more for a triple-vinyl album that counts amongst his most alluring, evocative, musically intricate and ear-pleasing full-length excursions to date. It's largely a warm, positive and calming affair, with Peterkin wrapping glistening jazz guitars, dreamy chords, spacey effects, scat vocals and jazz-funk basslines around grooves that variously touch on broken beat, Motor City deep house, Latin house and the kind of languid, organic rhythms more associated with the productions of Osunlade and Ron Trent. In a word: sumptuous.
Review: Given the quality, depth and melodiousness of her productions, we always felt that Shanti Celeste would be capable of producing a great debut album. As "Tangerine" defiantly proves, we were right. Rooted in her dreamy but driving club sound but peppered with delicious downtempo diversions - see the Japanese-influenced new age minimalism of "Natura", the drowsy ambient bliss of "Sun Notification" and "Selected Ambient Works" style opaque fluidity of "Slow Wave" - "Tangerine" is a brilliant showcase for the Peach Discs founder's inimitable talents. There's a pleasant amount of variation amongst the killer club cuts too, with highlights including the intergalactic techno bounce of "Aqua Block", the mangled drum and bass mysticism of "Voz", the retro-futurist breakbeat garage bustle of "Want" and the dream house skip of "Sesame".
Review: Since 2015 Reedale Rise's refined strand of electro and techno has quickly established him as one of the most inventive artists operating in the current crop of machine manipulators coming out of the UK underground. Liverpool-based producer Simon Keat has released a prolific body of work under the alias in a short space of time, notching up appearances on crucial labels such as Frustrated Funk, Hizou, Where We Met and many more besides. With a sound indebted to the early wave of UK techno artists like B12, the electro experimentation of Silicon Scally as well as Detroit forefathers such as Drexciya and Model 500, it's not hard to see why Reedale Rise makes perfect sense on Ornate. Technically astounding and emotionally charged, across all three tracks ORN027 marries shimmering, hi-def synth lines with crisp rhythms spanning 2-step shuffle, broken beats and understated techno propulsion.
Review: Here's some good news: the second salvo from nascent label Nuances de Nuit is every bit as alluring as its predecessor. It follows a similar blueprint, too, offering up a quartet of cuts from emerging artists. Politics of Dancing get the ball rolling via "When The Morning Comes", a picturesque peak-time throb-job that layers twinkling piano motifs and starry synth stabs atop non-stop beats and thrusting synth-bass. Akyra offers up a dreamy, ear-pleasing fusion of rolling tech-house and spacey deep house (the excellent "Rizla"), while Karaba's "Floating Mind" is a tough but drowsy deep house bumper built around sturdy beats and squelchy electronic bass. Last -but by no means least - is Cosmic JD and Jenta's pleasingly wonky "Spencer Landoff", where off-kilter electronics, jaunty bass and inter-dimensional melodies ricochet off hip-swinging deep-tech drums.

Review: Whether making musically rich deep hazy or hazy, pitched-down beatdown jams, Alton Miller rarely gets it wrong - as is proved by the impressive number of labels queuing up to sign singles from the veteran Detroit producer. The latest is Noble Square, a fine imprint run by Chicagoan heavyweight Ricardo Miranda. Even by Miller's standards, "When The Morning Comes" is extra-special, featuring as it does distinctive vocals from Amp Fiddler and extra percussion programming by Kyle Hall. The trio's slick, smooth and groovy original version comes accompanied by a similarly tasty instrumental mix and a wonderfully woozy and jazzy remix by Fiddler and Hall that's arguably even better than the inspired A-side mix.

Review: The 3rd release in No Fuss's vinyl series offers the likes of Saison, Risk Assessment, & Natasha Kitty Katt. A1 is a deep and dirty number from Saison titled "Till The Day I Die". Jackin' beats and a bumpy bassline complimented by a Juno 60 synth & sampled vocals. A2 is a deeper track from House artist Risk Assessment with sampled vocals and bluesy piano titled "I Don't Understand". B1 "The Riff" is classic Saison at its best. Their jazzy pianos, driving bass and swinging beats never disappoint the dance floor. B2 is Glitterbox resident and rising DJ Natasha Kitty Katt. Katt offers her unique disco touch of cut up samples and filtered drums to create a feel good disco house slammer.
Review: No Fuss's 4th release offers some top talent from across the globe. A1 starts with London's The Journey Men who create a deep, driving, moody track with a touch of soul. A2 see's Chicago's Local Options with their trade mark sound of Jackin Deep House. On the flip B1 is Saison's "A Good Thang". A feel good Deep House number with guitar, vocals, live keys, driving beats and bumpy bass. B2 sees the likes of veteran producer Cpen. Chris offers a classy joint that mixes the elements of Jazz, UK Garage & Deep House.
Review: Madrid disco ambassador and well respected producer and selector Javi Frias is back with a new EP on his own label Night Shift Records including four amazing tracks that will delight disco and house lovers, covering the full spectrum of the editing craft: groovy disco funk and catchy soulful boogie on the A side, raw afro disco and uplifting modern soul on the B side. Another sure shot release that will burn any dancefloor in the next future.
Review: NDATL continues with an new EP from upcoming deep connoisseur Ed Nine from Chicago. The EP starts off with the energetic "Be With You" snappy beats and uplifting chords, next up "One Less Struggle" takes u into the sublime with it's deep bassline and plush chords. The B side holds the title track "Deep Concentration" which exemplifies just that, a concentration on what's deep.
Review: Mysticisms' is delighted to reissue Nail's timeless debut release, Cassiopeia. Appearing on the DiY Collective's 'Strictly 4 Groovers' compilation album for Warp Records in 1993, the original appears as a stand alone at last and is backed with a specially created 2019 Remix. Starting in 1989 and centered around Nottingham, the collective, also known as DiY Sound System, were a focal point for the burgeoning house scene in the midlands. Promoting an alternative take on post-acid house's creeping commercialisation, DiY kept to simple ethos of good music and a good party and were at the forefront of the new Free Party movement. Alongside parties, the collective set up a studio and label and young Neil Tolliday was introduced by in-house engineer Damian Stanley. 'Nail' was born and during studio downtime, the 18 year old wrote Cassiopeia around the S1000 sampler, Juno 106, Oberheim Matrix 1000 and Roland SH101. Cassiopeia became the stand out inclusion on the compilation and rightly, is still highly prized. Fitting in and outside the Deep House vibe DiY were known, it fuses elements of ambient and even trance, with a beautiful arpeggio and vocal sample atop simple, but killer bass line and claps. Tolliday's 2019 Remix is a fitting accompaniment, stretching towards dub techno before house kicks back perfectly for today's heads. Bounce the Mystery.
Review: 30 years have passed since Detroit's short-lived but enormously influential Music Institute club closed its doors. Alton Miller was one of the three men who founded the club, and here launches the "official label" with a trio of ear-catching cuts made in tribute. He opens with "Inner 5", a deliciously fluid, melodious and positive chunk of smile-inducing Motor City deep house, before layering spacey jazz-funk synthesizer sounds and starry chords atop another loose-limbed, machine-driven house groove. Arguably best of all, though, is deep and hypnotic flipside "Inner 8", whose sci-fi sounds and locked-in beats make it a near perfect hybrid of late night house grooves and stargazing techno intent.
Review: Diego Krause is a key part of the effervescing Berlin underground thanks to his work as a DJ, producer and co-founder of Beste Modus. Here he steps out on Mulen's 20th EP with three slick tracks that perfectly straddle the divide between deep house, tech and minimal. Opener "Apogee" gets busy on supple drum programming with all sorts of astral pads spiralling round the groove and a burrowing bassline brings the funk. "Dive" hits harder but is still detailed with deft synths, alien motifs and warped pads that make it so much more than a purely functional track and the lithe and elastic closer "Dominion" is simply irresistible.
Review: This next release in the Exchange line we teamed up with Minneapolis label Open Sound to bring you something very special. For years, Minneapolis and Detroit have had a very special connection. We decided to bring two artists to tell a tale of the two cities. Three amazing tracks from Detroit's house maestro Javonntte (Traxx Underground, Quintessentials, Lets Play House, Defected) and two tracks from Minneapolis's own Lowry boys (aka Aaron Bliss of Havens & Hart and Open Sound's ACG) with a special little DJ tool thrown in for fun! To top it off we pulled in the genius himself to mix down and remaster the tracks Mr. Kevin Gorman aka Adesse Versions at Versions Mastering for that extra umff!
Review: Back in the early-to-mid 2000s, Warren Harris AKA Hanna was responsible for making and releasing some of the most sumptuous and seductive blends of future jazz, broken beat, soul and deep house around. This 12" from Melodies International offers a neat reminder by serving up two tracks previously featured on a CD-only album from 2004. A-side "I Needed" is the clear standout: a glassy-eyed and loved-up slab of jaunty dancefloor deep house that combines the swing of future garage and the snappiness of jacking Chicago house with the smoothness of soul and the kaleidoscopic synthesizer lines of jazz-funk. Flipside "Intercession, On Behalf" is similarly minded with more of an emphasis on vibrant jazz-funk and the soul motifs and the soul-powered swing of U.S garage.

Review: Madrid-based label Mate back once again with a new ep of deep house class heads. Reggie Dokes is all over the A side,the artist of Pychostasia, People of Earth, Sistrum presents three tracks full of intense melodies and chords that will make you fly.The B side presents two shared tracks by Manuel Costela, artist of Bucketround, and Rafa Santos. Both tracks are an excelent colaboration fusioning the best of these artists, with powerful bass and drums that will make you groove.
Review: Yuzo Iwata has made one prior appearance to date on Pluie/Noire in 2018. This EP for Malin Genie's label finds him exploring further deep cover plains of expression through the medium of experimental house and techno, leading in with the rippling textures and haunting piano refrain of "Spoit." The delicate gamelan chimes of "Mount Castle" that follow collide with rugged drum machine beats and artful sonic interference, while "Tiger" fuses jagged off-centre beats with gnarled acid lines and fluttering melodies lingering in the middle distance. "Touch" seals the deal on this highly distinctive EP with a writhing, organic mass of sound design strapped to a forthright four to the floor stomp.

Review: Matthieu Faubourg's 1st album was the opportunity for him to express deeper shapes of his personality. It took Matthieu almost a year to compose it, mostly in Vienna. The whole album was created around one master idea: sobriety. Matthieu's plan was to create a soundtrack that envelops body and soul, like a journey for the mind. The music on this album is not necessarily aimed at clubs. Melancholy can be heavily felt on this album, for instance in the beautiful featuring with the German singer Meggy. Also, this project is blessed with an energetic remix by none other than Byron The Aquarius. Constant traveling and hours spent alone on the road are things that have had a big influence on this album. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci, speaks to Matthieu in a way that he finds beauty and joy in simple things of life.
Review: In the early nineties, directly influenced by the Summer of Love of 1988, Florentine Riccardo Falsini began his project I Believe-a miscellaneous collection of records, compilations, and collaborations-released through his label Interactive Test (co-run with brother Franco Falsini).
These sounds would eventually reach Vancouver-based producer AVR (Avery La Rochelle) in the summer of 2018. Compelled by Riccardo's legacy as a producer and a deejay, Avery reached out to the Italian producer.
A friendship formed that would see them collaborate on various dance events in Vancouver, as well as their Outside Of Time EP, a reverie of hallucinatory trance music. Over the past year, the duo recorded these tracks with the free spirit of early rave culture in mind.
Outside Of Time is certified dance floor therapy that inspires the listener to believe in the power of love and music.
Review: Inner Shift Music is proud to welcome back Jacksonville aka Chris Lyth, who was last seen on the label with the successful Fragments EP. Machines of Loving Grace is aptly named with four stunning tracks we have come to expect from studio maestro Jacksonville. The title track Machines of Loving Grace pulls no punches and takes you on a captivating voyage with its unique blend of vocal lines, chords, bassline, broken beats and percussive sounds. This is followed by Nepune 4; a cosmic spacey hypnotic track with acid lines and a harder 4/4 beat. On side B the track Sebastopol Rd has a gorgeous depth with its warm chords and vocal line over a deep house rhythm that takes you on a mesmerising journey. The EP finishes with a nod to Jacksonville's first EP on the Inner Shift label with Fragment 7, this track has a more ethereal feel with subliminal synthesised pads interweaving over a vibrant dance beat.
Review: After taking time out to search for the right blend of carefully curated tracks, Bristol-based dancefloor futurists Innate return with a third multi-artist EP - shot through with melody, warmth and soul.
A quartet of timeless-sounding tracks full of stargazing sounds, undulating acid lines, far-sighted electronics and crackling beats, the A side kicks off with Perseus Traxx's "Drifting In Space": a loose-limbed exercise in analogue house deepness that wraps slowly shifting pads, meandering melodies and pulsating TB-303 motifs around broken house drums.
Welcoming Australian scene stalwart Ewan Jansen to the fray with "Sinders", he effortlessly blurs the boundaries between far-sighted, Motor City style techno and the kind of head-in-the-clouds analogue sounds that have always been his forte.
On the flip, Reedale Rise adds his touch with "Coral". In keeping with the brilliance of his 2018 debut album "Luminous Air", he drops a colourful, picturesque voyage into deep electro territory rich in ear-catching melodies, engaging chord sequences and crunchy machine percussion. To round, label co-founder Owain K returns with "Teifi", another ultra-deep treat: an enveloping, dancefloor excursion rich in fluttering lead lines, slowly expanding chords, vintage bass and punchy drums. A fitting conclusion to Innate's latest immaculate, eyes-closed voyage."

Review: The Hong Kong based Homesick team are back with their yearly release of quality reworks that has made the label sought after since their first release back in 2014. For the 7th opus they've worked with Indonesian artist Jonathan Kusuma (Previously on Cocktail D'Amore and I'm a Cliche) for two reworks that have been thoroughly tried on Asia's dance floors for the past two years.
Review: The crew behind the Hizou label is rightly chuffed that they've managed to secure this two-tracker from Andres, a Detroit producer whose releases - whether aimed at deep house dancefloors or hip-hop heads - are rarely less than superb. The two tracks the label has selected are suitably strong, too. Check first A-side "All U Gotta Do Is Listen", a warm and hazy chunk of break-driven mid-tempo deep house rich in jazzy samples, swirling crowd noises, chunky bass and dewy-eyed instrumentation. Andres' vintage influences are explored further on flipside "Night Time Is The Right Time", a P-funk influenced deep house bumper whose swinging drums and elongated organ chords casually tip a wink to classic New Jersey garage.
Review: Dutch duo Detroit Swindle returns to home label Heist for the first time since the release of last year's superb sophomore album "High Life". Title track "The Life Behind Things" is positive, ear-pleasing and dancefloor friendly, with the experienced pair peppering bouncy beats and thickset synth bass with joyous organ riffs, wobbly acid lines, jaunty piano stabs and female vocal snippets that sound like they were lifted from an old school house cut. Review: Alex "Omar" Smith traditionally uses the "Sidetrakx" series to release music that doesn't fit with his club-rocking house and techno 12" series. Even so, few would have expected him to use the latest edition - the sixth in total - to offer up a dancehall cut featuring Jamaican singer and MC Nardo Ranks. "Love Me Like Cooked Food" features Ranks chatting and singing in Patois above a dancehall "riddim" rich in rubbery bass guitar, echo-laden machine drums and flanged guitar riffs. It may be a curveball, but it's rather good. Over on the flip, "Renault used car salesman" John FM guests on a lo-fi R&B/soul workout that also includes some deliciously tongue-in-cheek, poodle perm-sporting soft rock guitar solos.
