Review: Adeen Records 004 installment comes from Alexander Robotnik. This all new material ep starts with the techy "I Love My House." A catchy retro feel groove record that's electro as only Mr. Robotnick can do. The next song is called "You Have Time" with a sure-fire crowd pleasing remix from NDATL's own head honcho Kai Alce. The next is "Made In China," and our staffs favorite. While Camille's version of "You Have time" is a dark deep jazzy version in comparison to Kai's more clubby feel, The last track is the original version of the song by Alexander himself. Three original songs and 3 innovative producers, What's there not to love?
Review: New label LDF clearly understands the need to make a big first impression, because this soul-flecked single from Angel-A and producer Rahaan - one of Chicago's true underground heroes - is a very impressive debut. Rahaan's A-side "Original Mix" is rhythmically tough and crunchy - think weighty drum machine kicks and snares - but also warm and woozy, with Angel-A's superb vocal rising above rich electric piano chords and jazzy synthesizer flourishes. Over on side B Karizma takes over, offering up a "Kaytronik Truth Dub" that wraps hypnotic, mangled electric piano notes, analogue bass and tech-tinged flourishes around a wonderfully locked-in but percussively lively rhythm track. It's very different to the original but exceptionally deep and floor-friendly.
Review: New pop-up Keeps Going takes us on an intercontinental genre spanning ride through the tempos. Eight nuggets lovingly re-touched, tweaked, tucked and tailored for the floor, shore and record bore by the gentle hand of Any Gram. It's bell ringing! It's hammock swinging! Stick it in your fumando and inhale!
Review: Having previously impressed on Argot and Home Taping Is Killing Music with her blends of evocative deep house and floor-friendly Chicago rhythms, The Black Madonna tries a different approach on this debut for the recently launched Night Owl Diner label. You could certainly describe both tracks as "Balearic", and there's a real air of wide-eyed positivity about the tumbling melodies, swirling synth-strings and mid-80s pop production of head-nodding deep house cut "Stay". It's pretty darn tasty, all told. Almost as good is "Requiem", which appears to be built around a loop lifted from Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal's "Saturday Love" (with, of course, additional synths and tuneful electronics).

Review: Cardiology came to light earlier this year with a sure shot from Yann Polewka, and now returns with more upfront disco house delights courtesy of Julio Cruz. Title track "What Is It About U" is a heart-stirring peak time pumper that matches disco romanticism with a forthright rhythm section, while "No One" gets a little more looped up without losing that heavy dose of soul. "Honey" keeps things cyclical and strutting - a perfect edit-heavy workout for the heat of the night. "Be Around" takes things deeper, shedding the disco tones for a more techy flavour that still matches with the upfront mood on the rest of the record.
Review: After the 4 young producers completed their second Hamburg residency, they enjoyed increasing popularity in Liverpool with the growing re-edit movement. However, they were also growing tired of the monotony of numerous appearances at the same clubs night after night. In November 2018, during one of the group's frequent performances at Sugar Night Club, they encountered Driller, a local record-label owner and club owner. Review: New label alert! Magic Bird coaxes Golden Fleece into giving up some quality original material, plus a road-tested eclectic bomb with this three track EP.
Golden Fleece has been making left of centre dance music for some years now, releasing on labels such as Eskimo, Redux and Mixed Blood Cuts.
The EP leads with the truly epic piano houser Keep Doin'It, with it's house piano-heavy riff complimented perfectly with it's rolling bassline and killer synth line, a real gem. On the flip we settle into the hypnotic chuggy dance floor groover that is Shappelle's Boogie, a super-chunky hypnotic trip that keeps on giving! I Love U2 gifts us with the cheekiest of edits that serves as a reminder that dance music doesn't have to be one dimensional. Top drawer.

Review: Back in the 1990s, Pauline Henry was the voice behind the Chimes and their stunningly soulful mid-tempo hit, "Heaven". This 12", which is dedicated to the late, great Paul "Trouble" Anderson, boasts fresh, club-ready remixes of the singer's solo cover of that loved-up club classic. Masters At Work man Louie Vega handles the A-side, placing Henry's fine vocal above a bed of swinging NYC house beats, fluid piano motifs and string-laden chords. Arguably even better is DJ Spen and Reelsoul's flipside revision, a more electronic affair with jauntier synth flourishes, elongated organ solos and a bumpin' rhythm track.

Review: After the sold-out first edition of Correcciones, Mexican label Calypso returns with Volume 2 of the series, unveiling four strong contenders for Edit of the Year. Starting things off, Calypso co-label boss Thomass Jackson has his way with a weirdo Polish jazz/fusion/funk track that keeps turning left while continually finding the right direction.
Russian label regulars Simple Symmetry join forces with co-label boss INigo Vontier to deliver a "monster peak-time mantra" that's as perfect for morning rites as it is for nocturnal adventures.
On the B-side, New York's Facets slows down the tempo of an old goa gem - the result has already gotten support from the likes of Intergalactic Gary, Alexis Le Tan and many others.
Volume 2 closes out in the hands of Italian dandys Marvin & Guy, who offer a magnificent take on a forgotten disco classic.
Timeless edits indeed.

Review: The Hong Kong based Homesick team are back with their yearly release of quality reworks that has made the label sought after since their first release back in 2014. For the 7th opus they've worked with Indonesian artist Jonathan Kusuma (Previously on Cocktail D'Amore and I'm a Cliche) for two reworks that have been thoroughly tried on Asia's dance floors for the past two years.

Review: Legendary Italian house/deep house DJ and producer Don Carlos based in Varese, North Italy. Active since the late 70s. His productions have mixing house rhythms with afro-american jazz sounds, verging sometime towards disco, sometime towards deep house or electronic soul. There's a similarly warm and hazy feel to second cut "Analog Express", where a nagging bassline and chillin' beats come wrapped in sunrise-ready electronics, toasty chords and more cut-up old school jazzy house. Throw in some refreshingly positive synthesizer flourishes of the kind once found in Italo-house records and you've got another tried-and-tested winner. Elegant, well produced classic deep house with sensual jazzy and smooth synth elements that sound really good on any equipment. All of the tracks on this EP are quality for anyone into deep house and quality club music in general.

Review: Funkyjaws alias Manwoman presents underground Chicago deep house sound, a few hints of the luscious jazzy instrumentals with swinging grooves, deep dive into the world of hard-to-find house classics, while Roland Nights bring some lush late night house, combining a warm bassline with clapping rhythms, shuffling beats, wobbly analog keys, and some great bagpipes. On B side Norwegian nu-disco veteran Rune Lindbaek together with Frisvold inaugurates his new remix for legendary Eddie Matos from Mateo & Matos duo. It's uptempo echo and FX laden remix which is kind of dwarfed in that department by the sprawling, tape delay heavy dub revision.

Review: The fourth limited edition missive on Denis Sulta's hyped Sultra Selects Silver Service series (try saying that while drunk) comes from Dan Shake, a producer whose blends of classic grooves and contemporary club nous rarely disappoint. The orange vinyl record's A-side, "Berts Groove", is a rushing slab of rubbery disco-house brilliance - a filter-sporting loop jam that tools up a lesser-known disco cut and is guaranteed to put goofy grins on the faces of all those that hear it. Flipside "Daisy's Dance" continues in a similar vein, with looped disco orchestration and filter trickery employed to create a series of build-and-release moments that are almost overwhelming in their positive intensity. In other words, Shake has served up two more peak-time anthems that will do the business every time they're played.
