Review: We present you 'Mamma Jamma' - an astonishing debut release on Disco Fruit from the Montenegrin up & coming duo 84Bit, inc. hot remixes by : Dr Packer, Hotmood and Tonbe. This release is everything you will ever need for your very special gigs! Fat, funky house driving bassline with powerful & uplifting vocals in the Original Mix, while Hotmood strikes immediately with a groovy & marching bassline - you're gonna love it. Dr Packer plays beautifully with percussions & vocals and manages to leave his recognizable mark on this release. Tonbe brings it home once more with a nice & sexy groove, lovely atmosphere and his identifiable drum hits. This is truly "A Must Have EP" for your vinyl collection.

This time covers a different spectrum of sounds and atmospheres which merge to form a harmonious whole that can stands on territories of accomplished future soul, jazz and funk. Distinctly deeper and visibly more emotive deep house than just a technique of smooth Balearic instrumentation.

This organic enrichment, which is an addition or better said, an enhancement in Alci's soundscape, result from the various inspirations Alci underwent during his travels and time spent surrounded by nature as well as urban nightlife.

  4. White Pepper (Ambient mix)
Review: Especial is delighted to welcome Alphonse back to the label for a third EP to again show his deep knowledge of the past to make a future. After the debut dub-breaks-poem of Same For Me and success of his warrior afro-dance Smokey 12", Alphonse made new friends with acclaimed releases for Klasse Wrecks, Hypercolour and Black Orpheus, before here returning like a chosen one with four sun kissed blessings.

Before the fields of Letchlade, hills of Castlemorton or beaches of Skegness had witnessed Alphonse exploring the sounds of many a free party sunrise, summers were misspent travelling the "disco" buses of Europe, tripping the light fantastic from Spook to Amnesia, Disco Piu to Euritimia.

The music, shared experiences and inclusion all led to an acute understanding apparent in his production skills. Ambient dreamscapes, warm bass lines, 808 breaks, 909 kick, piano, flute and horn melodies atop all lift to the heavens. In Moan Up and White Pepper Alphonse takes, reshapes, rebuilds and rewrites to create anew, expanding minds and hearts like never before.

Long stories, short stores, a nod and wink, at its heart Stolen Sunrise is an EP of wonderful expression, a producer peaking, providing a soundtrack to share for those that look to the future horizons with love.

Description EP

  1. Description
  2. Small Talk
  3. Gangsta Vox
  4. Inside A Neutron Star
Review: Matt Anderson has been surprisingly quiet of late, with this tasty four-tracker on Tresydos marking the tech-house producer's first solo single for almost two years. It's also one of his best to date, too, with each of the four tracks offering up a slightly different twist on the tech-house template. Opener "Description" is spacey, bass-heavy and undulating, with subtle melodic motifs and tipsy electronics rising above a swinging, sub-heavy groove. "Small Talk" is warmer with hybrid electro/two-step beats and sun-kissed instrumentation, while "Gangsta Vox" is a bombastic affair heavy on crunchy drums, mind-mangling acid bass and ghostly chords. The American wraps things up nicely via the dreamy bounce of "Inside A Neutron Star", whose hazy chords and bubbly electronic motifs are underpinned by suitably dubby bass and hypnotic beats.

  1. All U Gotta Do Is Listen
  2. Night Time Is The Right Time
Review: The crew behind the Hizou label is rightly chuffed that they've managed to secure this two-tracker from Andres, a Detroit producer whose releases - whether aimed at deep house dancefloors or hip-hop heads - are rarely less than superb. The two tracks the label has selected are suitably strong, too. Check first A-side "All U Gotta Do Is Listen", a warm and hazy chunk of break-driven mid-tempo deep house rich in jazzy samples, swirling crowd noises, chunky bass and dewy-eyed instrumentation. Andres' vintage influences are explored further on flipside "Night Time Is The Right Time", a P-funk influenced deep house bumper whose swinging drums and elongated organ chords casually tip a wink to classic New Jersey garage.

  3. Don't Stop
Review: Andromeda Orchestra returns, unearthing "Don't Stop" and employing Ray Mang on remix duties, turning the track into a peak-time disco master class. Strings, Clav's, Piano's, spacey keyboard solo's, sound fx and modern disco drums collide for maximum dance floor connection. It's perfect for the bigger clubs and festival sets and yet still intimate enough for the smaller ones.

B1 see's "Kano Line Dance", finally receiving the vinyl release it deserves. This spacey disco nugget effortlessly combines Rhodes and guitars to create yet another modern, dance floor hit, which is already receiving support from the likes of Horse Meat Disco. Rounding off the EP on B2 is the original of "Don't Stop". The disco original sits perfectly between "Constellation Orchestra" and the more underground disco sound of New York. Perfect for the summer.

Review: Alex Arnout returns with a second EP for the Jack's House imprint. His first EP for the label (Confirmation Bias) was the first release on the label and hit the top 10 best sellers within days of release. The Sync Jam EP features 3 distinctly different tracks. 'Sync Jam' (the lead track) is a true winner with an incredibly infectious loop that creeps in quite early into the track, then the baseline drops in and you are instantly hooked and most likely want to play on repeat. It is the kind of track you wish you had made yourself as the arrangement is stella in the way it builds and engages you. This is a true favourite. 'Calling U' is a really quirky rolling number with both dark and bright tones mixed together perfectly to create a deep atmosphere using lots of interesting catchy keys and patterns throughout the arrangement. 'Resurgen' is a beautiful piece with a true quality mature Balearic sound to it. Warm pads and gentle but effective percussion roll continuously throughout. It is a smooth track that travels, creating a certain of peace of mind.

Review: Newcastle via London label Jaunt Records revisits its 10 year anniversary EP from 2017 with a series of great remixes by Inland, Jonas Kopp, Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff and Gian. This is the first of two EPs planned, and it offers up a timeless mix of heady techno and slick electro.

Berlin based Brit Inland tackles Jaunt resident Blackhall & Bookless's 'Spirit' and serves up a heavyweight wedge of warehouse techno. On the same side, Jonas Kopp flips 'Itria' into a sci-fi tinged bit of dub techno and long time studio partners Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff from Indigo Aera offer widescreen synth work and blissed out pads all tethered to rolling and rubbery drums. Gian's take on Stojche's track is a fantastically crisp and futurist piece of electro that will get anyone on their toes. This is a classy EP that showcases the sort of sounds you will hear on any Jaunt dance floor.

The High Five Quintet complements his delivery well with a Pimptones style soft-jazz structure but plenty of rhythmic welly. For a little more house and a little less jazz, flip for Opolopo's remix. Now the house producer brings his skills to Purism, Enrico Mantini's on-point label that deals in all kinds of sublime stripped back jams. DKGF EP leads in with "Distance Dub," a steady ticking tool that should sit easy in the mix with all manner of sounds and styles. "Kip" brings a more shuffling strain of dancefloor goodness to the table, with some spooky key flourishes and slithers of vocal pinging out into the spacious mix. "Grey" plies a more nagging, techy trade, and "Flow" takes things deep with pattering percussion and atmospheric pad tones.

As the title suggests, "Astral Traveling" is a suitably starry affair, with the fast-rising producer wrapping twinkling electronics, dreamy pads, hazy vocals and jazz-funk influences keys around sumptuous deep house grooves, dusty hip-hop beats and pitched-down, post-boogie backing tracks. 2. Alina (part II)
Review: Few are held in as higher esteem or instill as much admiration as the Italian deep house legend, Don Carlos. Imogen Recordings continue their stellar release form, locking down the maestro for a blissful two tracker that gives just as much energy, awe and emotion as his early '90s output. 'Alina' is eyes closed business right from the off. Waves of atmospheric synth strings and hazy chords roll in, as blissful pads sway with filtered drum loops. First come the dusky piano twinkles, then the trademark Don Carlos analogue bass tones, proving as prominent as ever behind melt-in-the-mouth sax grooves. Every turn and tweak conjures up memories of carefree elation - its ecstasy inducing dance music without the need for artificial enhancements. Part II is a variation on this masterpiece, progressing through the intro in a speedier fashion for those that need an express ticket to that peak time power. Shakers, claps and congas are brighter in the mix whilst the addition of a springing synth arp, fluctuations to the bassline and a re-sleazed sax line give just enough diversity to make it distinctive. It's hardier than Part I, but with every bit as much finesse and feeling. This is the real deal - no nonsense house music from a heart and head that have seen it all. Alone on a Mediterraneo beach or surround by a packed dancefloor, Alina is one to get lost in from start to finish and a solid statement that Don Carlos certainly still has 'it'.

Review: Last summer, Regularfantasy and Void Mirror joined forces in the studio for the very first time. The result is this colourful, dusty and loved-up debut EP on Mood Hut. They begin with "Gemini Month", a wholeheartedly spacey and positive affair in which dreamy deep house pads, ethereal chords and sci-fi electronics bubble away above thrusting, techno-tempo beats and bustling, post-Italo bass. "Trance Breaks (Club Mix)" is an altogether deeper - if no less intergalactic - affair, where a rising and falling bassline and psychedelic analogue synth lines wrap around relaxed electro style breaks. Arguably best of all, though, is the sunrise-ready glow of "Hits From The Bongo", another deep, melodious and dreamy deep house trip that sounds like it could have been recorded at the turn of the '90s.

El Provost's No Speakers label knows what's up, and they've drafted in Clark for his killer jam "The Heat." Opening track 'Follow Me' fuses deep basslines, an echoed sax riff and dubwise vocals with a rolling 4/4 UKG beat and mid-tune dubbed out breakbeat section. 'Bring It Back' is the first of the tunes featuring Raffy and he lays down some sublime jazzy piano over skippy swung beats, rhodes pads and nostalgic female R&B vocal cuts. The Scottish imprint has been on fire of late, and this label debut from Tone Dropout and Klasse Wrecks regular Darren "Dawl" Woollard is another surefire winner. There's a sweaty, saucer-eyed feel to the EP, from the acid-fired breakbeat madness of throbbing opener "Let's Go" and the accurately titled insanity of "Heavyweight" - all chopped-up rave-era riffs, booming bass and skittish drums - to the mind-altering acid psychedelia of hypnotic closing cut "Overdub" and the warehouse-friendly 1990 breakbeat hardcore skip of sub-heavy smasher "Drop It". In other words, it's a reliably charged-up set of misty-eyed workouts.

Review: Here we have another Tech-House/Techno EP from Zooted and Booted Records... "Are You Ready"! The original mix by Dylan Debut and David Coker is a four to the floor bassline smasher that just keeps building and building until its deep analogue twisted cords send you in to a trance with solid 909 hats that sizzle all the way through. There's also the solid jacking house mix on the EP by none other than Mr deepjacking, Tommy Largo, that will shuffle its way through any bumping party, keeping it dirty and deep until the a.m. There's no stopping this EP as next on the list is an ultra-sweet deep and chunky mix by those classic Ornate boys Jonno & Tommo. This mix is hot and late night too but with some twisted extra layer and bumps that will send any man or woman crazy!!! Last but not least is the upfront dance hall thumper by none other than Eddie Leader, the bad man behind Hudd Trax. This mix has lush added extra keys and a solid old school analogue feel with some dirty little rave action running through it, but still keeping it in tune with today sounds and production. The jazz-funk influence is strongest on flipside "Just Give It A Long Shot", a more languid affair rich in squiggly synth lines, toasty bass guitar, slack-tuned drum breaks and the kind of group vocals that would have once sent rare groove heads into a spin. A-side "Twelve Steps" is arguably even better, with whispered vocals, jazzy synth lines and sunny guitars wrapping around a pleasingly rubbery Brit-funk groove.

Spellbound (feat Mandar remix)
  1. Spellbound
  2. Spellbound (Mandar remix)
Review: Following releases from Huerta, Mandar and Makcim & Levi last year, Oscillat kicks off 2019 with an assured, brooding club 12" from long-serving producer Matthew Dekay.
Since surfacing in 2001, Dutch producer Dekay has put out a formidable body of work under a variety of aliases and in collaboration with producers including Lee Burridge and Maher Daniel. His sultry tech house approach has graced labels as highly regarded as Innervisions, Cecille, Aras and Maeve, and now he comes to Oscillat with "Spellbound," a track that finds him diving deeper than ever before into hypnotic, swinging rhythms loaded with atmosphere and longing.
On the B side, Oscillat bosses Mandar (Lazare Hoche, Malin Genie and Samuel Andre Madsen) take Dekay's original and inject it with an infectious peak time energy, creating a straight-up, acid-flecked workout that sits in neat contrast with the immersive shuffle of the original.

Review: John Dimas is surely one of the freshest operators in the minimal house scene - his One Against Time album on Elephant Moon last year being a crowning glory in his storied career to date. Now he's back on the EP tip with this high grade hit of floor-focused funk, making his first appearance on scene-leading label Half Baked. "5putn1k" keeps the beats tough and bouncy, peppered with plenty of playful zips and wiggles for the peak time party people. "@L5d" takes a deeper, spaced-out approach, while "5p@c3 T@lk" nudges back towards a full-fat tech-house sound. "@rkyn" seals the deal with a crafty 2-step configuration for the subliminal set to get hypnagogic to.

Review: Cardiff based DJ and producer Guy Evans has been producing music since 1992, although it was only in 2014 that he had his first vinyl release on the Glasgow based label ALL CAPS.
Since then, he has released both new and archived material on labels such as ORGANIC ANALOGUE, CEJERO, CRISIS URBANA, EXOTIC ROBOTICS and many others. This EP marks the first release on his own label 'OTHER WORLD MUSIC' and features 5 tracks created recently by the producer which cover a broad range of styles, from Detroit house, downtempo ambient to futuristic sci-fi breakbeats. Some of the tracks on the EP have already gained airplay on stations such as NTS Radio and we look forward to hearing more releases from the label in the future.

Review: New label Nuances de Nuit kick off in fine style with a various artists 12" that draws on some emergent names to lay out a vision of cross-style dance music that favours the deeper end of the pool. Things get going with an organ-rich house bumper from DJ Steaw that pumps in all the right places, before Armless Kid switches things up with an untitled slice of dynamic, richly layered electro. T. Jacques thumps out a crafty, swinging cut with techy inclinations and oodles of groove, and E. Wan takes things in a more linear, deep techno direction laden with gorgeous synth work and plenty of artful effects processing.

Review: After the first release by Dirty Channels and huge supports from Palms Trax, The Black Madonna, Annie Mac, Rampa, Disclosure, Tom Trago and many others, Take It Easy is back! The second release of the label connected to the well-know party Take It Easy in Milan, comes from the party and label co-owner DJLMP. For his debut EP, DJLMP shows his eclectic vision of the club music, passing throw disco samples, house music and percussive vibes. "Blow Your Mind" open the EP with an epic and dreamy filtered sample. On a2, DJLMP gives his dancefloor and house vision of "Kachi Kachi" by the brilliant In Flagranti. Edging in a little 80's sauce to meet with tought and gritty dancefloor attentions "Tiger Cat" is a clear highlight on the record. "Angry" close the EP with its disco percussions and trumpets. Perfect tool to cross between house and disco tracks.

Review: Last year, East End Dubs ended his Social series after releasing 10 sought-after EPs in just under three years. "Social Part 2" is the second boxed retrospective of this work; while the first edition gathered together EPs one to five, this sequel boasts numbers six to ten. The 15 included tracks are all up to the prolific producer's high standards, offering an attractive late night blend of swinging tech-house rhythms, rich bass, spacey pads, intergalactic melodies and atmospheric aural textures. There's little filler or fluff, just quality peak-time grooves, occasional warm-up workouts and a sprinkling of loved-up anthems-in-waiting (see the delicious "Track 6" and glassy-eyed "Track 8").

""I cannot tell you how readable the book of nature is becoming for me: my long efforts at deciphering, letter by letter, have helped me; now all of a sudden it is having effect, and my quiet joy is inexpressive."" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to Charlotte von Stein, 1786

Voice Inside (The Backwoods, Craig Richards remixes)

  1. Voice Inside (French version)
  2. Voice Inside (The Backwoods remix)
  3. Voice Inside (English version)
  4. Voice Inside (Craig Richards Authority Clash remix)
Review:
Things I see. Things I hear. Things I say. Things I wish I'd said. Things I do. Things I'm meant to do. Things I wish I'd done. Things I love. Things that make me love. Things that make me smile. Returning to Not An Animal for the 4th time, Ess O Ess create the 'Voice Inside' on NAAR 16.

Instantly tom rolling into a neo-electro commodity, 'Voice Inside' undulates with lustrous vocals that stand as the tracks core. Pads cling to bleeps and guitar chunks that evaporate with alternating delays. 'Voice Inside (French)' adds a sensual linguistic twist, although the elements remain the same, they feel so different. 'Voice Inside (Dub)' completes the A, stripping tones back and chopping the duration to find yet another gorgeous avenue.

On the flip, Backwoods Remix adds to the original atmosphere with a face scrunching bass-line and pulsating 4/4 kicks that embraces the not so distant future. Last but by no means least, the mighty Craig Richards' signature 808s pound on the remix to close the B. Pulling darker tones to pitch shifted vocals, this minimalist beat composition is perfectly suited for vigorous floors.

  4. Tochigi Canopy - "Gulf Ressac" (7:20)
Review: Moonrise Hill Material has an interesting mission statement. The French label says that it is dedicated to "poetic house music", a deliciously open-ended concept that's open to all sorts of interpretations. In the case of this EP - a multi-artist affair featuring label regulars and newcomers - that largely means chunky club tracks that doff a cap to classic disco and boogie. There are deviations from the blueprint, of course - see the dub-flecked tropical house slinkiness of Tochigi Canopy's "Gulf Ressac", or the Andres-ish loop jazziness of LB aka Labat's "Your Ass Gotta Go" - but it's likely most DJs will reach for the celebratory positivity of Etheyne and Folamour's party-starting A-side cuts.

  8. What U Done 4 Me (feat ?)
Review: We've been impressed by the previous output from soul-loving, lo-fi deep house songsmith Tom Kerridge's Girls of the Internet project, so it's heartening to find that this double 12" boasts his strongest collection of cuts to date. Kerridge sets his stall out via the deep, dubby and seriously seductive shuffle of "Patience", before vocalist Linda Muriel guests on the punchy two-step slickness of "Humble". "Take Back" and "Hello Judy" both boast sultry male vocals, warm bass guitar and lo-fi club beats, while "U Changed" is a slinky, skewed UK garage workout. Elsewhere, "Sun Comes Up" is a sunrise-ready chunk of two-step warmth, "Still" is a string-laden deep house treat and closer "What U Done 4 Me?" is lo-fi deep house-soul straight from the top drawer.
