The Lego Edit 'party dub' of 'Party Freaks' heads more explicitly towards peak-time house, but as ever it's delivered with heart and soul thanks to the vintage source material powering the track.

Review: After a superb repress of the Volvo Una Hit Italo classic, Bottin's Cristalli Liquidi project is back and this time in cahoots with French-Italiano electro pair Deux Control which is Justine Forever and Rodion. They have cooked up a selection of versions of 'Rosso Carnale' which, we understand, lyrically touches on the colour red and the gentle carnal forces of nature sung in Italian. There is a sped-up version from Bottin, a sparse mix from Deux Control and standout Mutant version with tougher drums but nice silky dub chords and a bright Italo version full of 80s synth nostalgia.

Review: Daddario proves he is the daddio with a new electro excursion on the fledgling Ragoo label. Rather than all out cosmic dance floor assaults, this is electro steep in funk and boogie from the off. 'Shift' is a playful one with stiff melodies and lush chords while 'Boogie Night' (feat JZP) is just that. 'Space Lou' has a feel good disco tinge to the hip swinging clasp and jazzy keys and after an Astratto Fool mix that slows 'Boogie Night' down to a soulful slow dance the flipside brings dazzling electro-disco and downbeat analogue grooves that seduce and tease. The Mechanical Man remix of 'Brazillionaire' might just steal the show at the end.

Review: The second release on the I Travel To You label is another delightful outing with plenty of character. It comes from Norwich-Manchester duo Dangerous Goods who manage to bottle up influences from the worlds of Detroit and jazzy house, disco, funk and more in the opening tune 'Special Love'. It is a bristling tune packed with musicality and old school synth sounds which continued through the stepping bass seances and snappy machine drum sounds of 'Breakout'. Last of all is the more horizontal and dubby sundown workout that is 'Theme.'

Review: Having got the juices flowing via a split re-edit release with Jacques Renault earlier in the year, Cosmic Kids member Daniel T returns with his first full solo EP of floor-ready reworks. Arguably the most ear catching of the lot is "Trinidad Trouble", a fiendishly percussive, cowbell-laden tropical disco affair blessed with carnival-ready flute flourishes and heavily accented Trinidadian vocals. It sounds like a genuinely sweat-soaked peak-time treat. The hits keep coming elsewhere across the EP, from the "do the Bus-Stop" hustle of Blaxpolitation disco rework "Hit The Streets", which provides a seriously strong opening gambit, to the leisurely, laidback and sumptuous sounds of trumpet-sporting afternoon delight "Penguin Vacation".

Review: As far as the Juno Records review team care, the DC based Peoples Potential Unlimited have been on a run of 100% boogie heaters roughly since their inception in 2008. The latest transmission from Andrew Morgan's label sees a 12" presentation of disco funk holy grails from Milwaukee act Dazzle ahead of a PPU released long player Made In The Shade. Not to be confused with the Patch Adams and Leeroy Burgess fronted group of the same name, Dazzle was the work of Donald D. Smith and this 12" presents three tracks originally recorded in 1981. "Explain" is the outright jam here, heavily stacked with thick analogue leads and brisk funk riffs. All hail PPU!

Review: This record is a re-make of a Carmen Amez disco and boogie gem from 1983. The original goes for well over L200 and isn't even that good a pressing. This cover first saw the light of day as a 12" in September that was only acquired by certain DJs. It soon started trading for high prices as people wondered what the hell it was, who it was by, and whether it was a shifty bootleg. That's all resolved now as it gets a proper out with a freshly re-recorded version with strings, horns, bells, whistles and Vanessa Haynes on vocals. It's a lush bit of floor filling heart swelling disco, funk and soul gold with soaring strings to boot.

Once again we're treated to the full spread as the collective lay down the sunny side grooves: "Show Me" is a brilliantly kitsch moment in disco with spoken word that guarantees dancefloor humour. "I Need To Meet You" whisks us off to the horizon on a yacht while "Le Paradis C'est L'enfer" is an emphatic piece of French electroboogie that's so raunchy it could make Gainsbourg. Review: Discotecas kicks off a new label devoted to tidy disco edits. This one opens up with the brilliantly sleazy 'Disco Steel' which is all about the rickety drums and filthy bass down low. It's one that is sure to work the club into a real peak time lather. There is a strong Blaze-style deep house vibe to 'Love to the World' with its low-slung beats and bass and snaking bassline overlaid with seductive spoken words. The vibe completely flips for 'Any Day Disco' which brings tropical vibes, Latin flair, wild percussion and a shuffling samba rhythm to close things down in colourful fashion. His own music is never far away from influential charts and record bags and now he serves up a funky number packed with soul samples. For the uninitiated, Don (Carlo Troya) and S-Tone (Stefano Tirone) released two records on Italian imprint Calypso in the early '90s under the alias Montego Bay. Features the emotive, late-night garage of 'Music All Night' (Deep In Milano mix) followed by the low-slung dancefloor heater 'Keep Dancing The Boogie' on the A-side. The flip offers the life-affirming vocal cuts 'Waited So Long' and 'Gotta Keep Dancing' respectively which perfectly capture the zeitgeist of house music's golden era in the early '90s.

Review: In its full digital form, Z Records' excellent Life's Better With Disco Comp is an epic 37 tracks deep. Naturally there aren't that many cuts on this sampler 12", but the four on show are undoubtedly amongst the set's many highlights. Boss man Dave Lee kicks things off via a superb classic disco-meets-nu-disco revision of Firefly's 'Love Is Gunna Be On Your Side', before there's a chance to cop an obscure Backroom Productions rework of their early proto-house/garage-house gem (as Ruffneck), 'The Power - The Rhythm'. The mid-'80s fun continues on Larry Levan's vintage remix of Jonny Dynell's 'Rhythm of Love' - a killer fusion of dubbed-out synths and drums and Konk style Latin percussion - while Doug Willis' 'Doug's Disco Theme' is a classic disco-house number from Lee under one of his many alternative aliases.

Review: As one of the most cherished of all house tracks ever made, you have to be careful who you ask to remix Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle's 'Your Love'. Darius Syrossian recognises this as he offers a contemporary version of the track on this 12", threading a chunky, lightly swung tech house back bone to the track and slipping some breakbeats in underneath those dizzying emotional peaks in the track. Meanwhile Alan Dixon creates a version that holds closer to the original and simply beefs up the drums and threads some fatter synths into the mix. Meanwhile Knuckles himself teamed up with Eric Kupper to form Director's Cut in 2011, and their version appears here as a subtle update to the power of the original.

Review: Duca Bianco is back with one of its special various artists' releases, and a mighty fine one it is too. This one finds four guest producers all with their finest studio tools sharpened and ready for action. Two of the artists are well known but use new alias - one is Israeli synth and psyche wizards Red Axes who work their magic as Der Sexa on 'Gabi Plane' and another is Beauty & The Beat party man Cedric Woo as CW. He gets nice and twisted here while the other two cuts - one from Italo king Franz Scala who builds slow new wave funk, and one from Manchester's renowned edit kings Talking Drums who offer some lovely leftfield madness on 'DMNB', all make for crucial listening.

Review: Samosa is doing what's right for it and disco lovers by double-dropping to start off the New Year with a bang. The Italian label has got a new VA EP arriving at the same time as this second volume of its African series. The second volume is another fresh one with an array of artists kicking off with Vincent Galgo who brings some raw percussive energy to 'J'ngolo'. Matalo!'s 'Zaire' gets more down and dirty with some rugged rhythms and Leslie Lello's 'Alcyone' has a joyous feel thanks to the big horns. It's De Gama's 'ETA' which then shuts down things with some Afro-vocal hypnotism.

Review: Jonny 5 is known for his superlative edits as well as heading up the Bahnsteig 23 label and here he returns from time out becoming a father to kick off this new one from Duca Bianco. 'Joy riding' is loopy disco-post-punk for a peak-time trip. Multi Culti man Dreems then brings the Afro party vibes with his 'Bususua' which is packed with dub fx and steeped in fun. Miserymix then throws in their Italo-licked post-disco and punk sounds on 'Adjust Your Love' before a big finale by Black Bones. They offer a deep and dubby house that has been a secret edit for a while but finally gets unveiled here to great effect as it worms its way into your brain.

Review: Funkyjaws Music launches a new edits series here with four absolute dons of the form on one vital 12". It's Lay Far that kicks off with 'Never Ever Edit' which is all horn-led excitement and upbeat disco claps and kicks before Admin's 'Moon Trippin' takes a more slow and soulful approach. When it comes to edits few are more essential than Chicago's Rahaan who kicks off the B-side with 'Gonna Get Ya', a leggy funk number infused with cosmic synth rays and warm piano chords. Delfonic shuts down with the loose percussive jumbles and jazzy vibes of 'Let's Dance The Spank'. A fine start to the series with volume two already in the works.

Review: Dominican band Midnight Groovers was founded back in the early 1970s and went on to become known as one of the best around at what they did. They have a unique sense of sway and swing and cadence to their music and that is well exemplified by the A-side tune on this new 45 rpm. It makes for a double pronged attack on both body and soul. The flip side 'Ce bon comme ca' features an edit by Dominique Panolm, a singer-songwriter from Guadeloupe who keeps the energy but updates it with a more modern touch that is sure to ignite dan floors. Review: Z Records' ongoing 'Attack The Dancefloor 'series of compilation style vinyl EPs has long been a reliable source of disco-fired excellence, and this 21st edition is another high-quality affair. We're first treated to a superb Jimpster revision of recent Mistura single 'Want Me Back', where Jemini's spoken word vocal, jazzy keys and spacey synth sounds rise above loose-limbed deep house beats and wiggly TB-303 lines, before Birdee drops a genuinely joyous, organic-sounding disco-house take on 1991 classic 'Do What You Feel' (now credited to Joey Montenegro, rather than his now retired Joey Negro alias). Elsewhere, Lee's own rework of Lakeshore Commission's Bluey collaboration 'In The Light' is a smooth, soulful, string-drenched delight and the veteran producer's 'Destination Boogie' tweak of Destiny II's 'Play To Win' is a revivalist '80s electrofunk delight.

Review: Riot's popular Disco Made Me Do It Series notches up a third volume of beats here that will once again get floors vibing. Musta's 'Loving Me' is up first in the form of a Hot Toddy remix that twists and turns on groovy synths and sensuous vocals. There is a big diva feel and clean synth lines to Danny Kane's 'Sucker' that fill the heart with joy and then old-school funk comes to the fore on Jaegerossa's musical 'Street Player.' Completing the picture is the Qwestlife remix of Stan Boogie's 'Speak Out' which is another timeless cut with authentic disco loops and lovely vocal energy.

Review: Stand by for a big reissue of a classic 1990 single from a couple of bona fide legends here: Junior Sanchez and Dajae combined to beautiful effect on 'Be With U' for the Club Sweat label and now offer a new 2.0 take. It's got the sort of huge diva vocal that you just don't get so often the days with simple but effective house production bolstering the good time feels. The original is included and next to version 2.0 sounds of its time, but then Yolanda Be Cool goes for the main room with more twisted synth work and sweaty, tech tinged drums. The final Dance System remix is pure fun.
