G Edits #5
Cat: GEDITS 005. Rel: 03 Oct 18
Lifted (5:46)
Panties (7:01)
Review: British DJ and producer G Markus has appeared previously on some top imprints such as Soul Clap Records, Exploited, Roots for Bloom and Monologues in recent times - so he sure has the credentials. He strikes out on his own here for the fifth edition in his G Edits series. The A side features the classic Stateside vocal house vibe of "Lifted", while on the flip there's something more funky and lo-slung that you have come to expect from the man - on the deep down and disco dirty groove of "Panties".

G Edits #3
Cat: GEDITS 003. Rel: 06 Dec 17
Power (7:16)
Ichiban (8:06)
Review: G. Markus returns with two fresh edits after his first G-Edits release sold out and enjoyed heavy support from all sorts of DJs. Known for his releases on Roots For Bloom, Sneaky and Monologues Records, the London based disco fiend has crafted a groovy house sound complete with vocal samples and funky bass lines. This year saw the launch of his aforementioned edits series and he's is back with the third installment. On the A side we have "Power" a killer edit that features funky vocal and guitar samples and a lot of bass courtesy of the heavy kick. On the flip, "Ichiban" might sound familiar - it's an oldie but a Goody Goody. G. Markus delivers a respectful edit of this classic.

G Edits #4
Cat: GEDITS 004. Rel: 18 Jul 18
Eternal (8:12)
Partee (6:24)
Review: The fourth volume in G Markus' ongoing G Edits series delivers some serious disco heat from start to finish. While many will enjoy the more relaxed, groovy and gently housed-up B-side, "Partee" - all walking bass, sun-kissed chord progressions, eyes-closed synth stabs, jangling guitars and soft focus blue-eyed soul vocals - it's A-side "Eternal" that undeniably hits home hardest. Heavier and sweatier with subtle deep house flourishes (think drawn-out chords and filter tricks), the edit is based on a Latin-fired disco workout that boasts spiraling orchestration, eyes-closed rock guitar solos and a big budget horn section.

Slam Dunk Vol 2
Cat: DFR 010. Rel: 02 Nov 21
Jisco Dazz - "Change" (5:11)
BPlan - "Hey Boy" (6:58)
G Markus - "Pocket Rocket" (6:55)
Frank Virgilio - "What's In My Mind" (5:38)
Review: Daje Funk Records is back with four new tracks on the Slam Dunk Vol. 2 EP. It features contributions from Jisco Dazz who serves up the low slung and rubbery groove of 'Change', BPlan continues on with more slo-mo kind tackle on the ultra deep 'Hey Boy', while the ever reliable G. Markus gets down to the disco inferno of 'Pocket Rocket'. For something a bit more streamlined to the dancefloor, Frank Virgilio also makes an appearance and he contributes the evocative deep house of 'What's In My Mind'.

Shir Khan Presents Black Jukebox 16
Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax - "I Believe" (7:16)
Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax - "Scorpio" (6:52)
Bas Roos - "Midnight People" (5:31)
G Markus - "The Man From Planet Jazz" (7:22)
Review: Shir Khan's Black Jukebox is back with its 16th edition and it's all killer no filler as we'll explain. First up the EP starts off in wicked fashion with the thumping, swing fuelled groove of Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax's "I Believe" with its jazzy piano loops.. this one's definitely made to play! On the flip we've got the lo-slung deep groove of Dutchman Bas Roos' "Midnight People" that's just perfect for a 3 AM Chicago basement shut in or Bushwick loft party alike! Finally Soul Clap Records affiliated G Markus' "The Man From Planet Jazz" is indeed a jazzy little something, no doubt inspired by the Windy City Style.
