Da Lukas slows things down and goes for a more deep, swinging cut with his 'Get Disco Vibes' and then scene veteran Moodena's 'Who Got The Keys?' gets more jazzy, with some fantastic keys and funky bass. Toby O'Connor closes out with a steamy and romantic slow jam, and in doing so rounds out an EP packed with the sort of positive vibes we all need right now.

Review: Twilight is the latest piece by long time DJ, producer and remixer, Dominic Dawson. The Japanese label Flower, has released this single to 7" complete with a remix for the second side. The title track is a catchy and funky house track that while the remix is a bit more Balearic and beachy. Both versions have their place in any house setlist and will set the tone for any eclectic DJ set. With the DJing background Dominic has, he is a great guide to setting the mood with music. For the uninitiated, Don (Carlo Troya) and S-Tone (Stefano Tirone) released two records on Italian imprint Calypso in the early '90s under the alias Montego Bay. Features the emotive, late-night garage of 'Music All Night' (Deep In Milano mix) followed by the low-slung dancefloor heater 'Keep Dancing The Boogie' on the A-side. The flip offers the life-affirming vocal cuts 'Waited So Long' and 'Gotta Keep Dancing' respectively which perfectly capture the zeitgeist of house music's golden era in the early '90s.

Matalo!'s 'Zaire' gets more down and dirty with some rugged rhythms and Leslie Lello's 'Alcyone' has a joyous feel thanks to the big horns. It's De Gama's 'ETA' which then shuts down things with some Afro-vocal hypnotism.

Review: Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Frank Harris has enjoyed a long and varied career. During the 1980s, he was one of the world's most esteemed Synclavier synthesiser programmers, and also recorded extensively with singer-songwriter Maria Marquez - though it took until 2019 for much of that music to be released (on the album Echoes). This 12" boasts fresh reworks of tracks from that set. Frankie Deluxe handles side A, first delivering a deliciously slow-burn revision of 'Loveroom' - all sparse, undulating synth melodies, whispers of percussion and beautiful lead vocals - before offering up a seductively summery shuffle through the samba-seeped shuffle of 'Down By The Rio'. That track is twice more remixed on the flip. First Frakas supplies a tactile, deep Balearic nu-disco tweak, before Julian Dyne offers up a deep, dubbed-out, slow-motion house take.

Review: The intriguingly named Humus Per Tutti label has made us wait well over two years for a seance EP after the tantalising first volume of this self-titled series. It comes from a section of artists who are all editing some worldly source material. First off is a Jean Kefta edit that locks you in a guitar loop while intoxicating vocals up top bring the charm. The Babach Flangerman mix of the A1 is another loopy disco cut with a Middle Eastern flavour and the comes Jean Kefta & Max Houmous's snake charming and psychedelic disco groover 'Muharaqa'.

Review: Machine originally dropped this mini-disco classic back in 1979 as the title cut to their album of that year, and now it's offered up again with a couple of remixes that rework the original. That original is the star of the show still here with the 1979 version still standing out. Next to that are a poising Timmy Regisford mix and acapella reprise as well as a Moplen remix and dub. This studio disco group was first formed by August Darnell who had previously been part of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and then in the 1980s went on to be part of Kid Creole And The Coconuts.

Their collaborative 'Shintu' EP opens with 'Shintu', a party starter thanks to its ever more wild synth leads and chunky drum loops. Review: Martin Matiske was discovered by DJ Hell as something of a child prodigy already deeply immersed in the history and present moment of electro and synth-pop, and by 2012 he had already released his debut album Robotermusik. This release on Bordello A Parigi revives one of the tracks from that album, 'Dimension Phantasy', and gives it a standalone release with some interesting remixes. Captain Mustache does a fine job of threading extra arpeggio sparkle into the track without derailing it, while Play Paul turns the track into his own bombastic synth-pop anthem which appears in vocal and instrumental versions.

Review: French label Nocta Numerica clocks up a quarter of a century of releases with a suitably stylish electro trip from Martin Matiske. The German claims to have been mixing records and making tapes since he was 10 and the maturity and high production values of his sound certainly back that up. There is a Lifestyles of the Laptop Cafe feel to his brand of electro - deep and reflective in mood, with sleek lines and celestial chords that carry the mind and body away into the cosmos. Review: The Disco Essentials label is back with another serving of what it thinks are the most crucial cosmic grooves to have in your collection. We inclined to agree frankly because these latest four gems are filled with heat. 'Track 1' is an Afro-tinged bubbler with loose limed rhythms and chanting vocals that bring the soul next to steamy sax lines. 'Track 2' is hot and humid with diffuse organ chords and tightly woven rhythms then 'Track 3' gets a little deeper with bongos and funk bass riffs overlaid by characterful melodies. 'Track 4' closes out with hip swinging claps and more neat riffs to get grown up floors going.

Review: Super Disco Edits close down their special series of releases from the brother and sister duo of Eryk and Antoinette McClinton with another four-track pearler. The pair recorded with venerated Detroit legends Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey in around 1979 and they came at a time when they were trying to break the big time. They had already released on Honey Records and here bring plenty of funky influxes to their big disco beats. All four have some fine breakdowns and the final tune, with its 2 step beats, is a real standout.

Review: This release features two of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes' recordings that typify the cream of Philadelphia International and Sigma Sound studios' dominance of the dancefloor - at the absolute height of their creativity and power. They were one of the most popular groups on Gamble & Huff's label, clocking up a number of hits in the mid 1970's. "Bad Luck" spent 11 weeks on the No.1 slot on Billboard's U.S. Dance chart in 1975 and has since become one of the biggest dancefloor staples ever recorded. It gets a remix by the master Tom Moulton for added club dynamics. Review: Anyone with a passing interest in dance music will be familiar with Metro Area's one and only self-titled album. It is now 20 years old and has never been bettered in the two decades since it was released. The US pair also released a highly regarded selection of EPs back in the day on Environ, and the label has decided to reissue them. But not before having them recut and remastered by the one and only Matt Colton. These new editions feature some versions of the tunes that have never been reissued before as well as the original, extended 12" versions of all songs. Review: MFSB was an American studio band formed by producers of the Philadelphia International Records label. The label was founded in 1971 by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff in Philadelphia. This is an official 12 inch re-release of probably the most revered Paradise Garage anthem of all time. Originally released in 1973, "Love Is The Message" has sustained dancefloors across the world ever since and here Prime present the full original mix from the master himself: Tom Moulton, which is very rare, as any seasoned digger could attest to. On the flip is "T.S.O.P. (The Sound Of Philadelphia)" aka the official Soul Train theme, again using Moulton's original mix.

Review: A decade ago, New York band Midnight Magic delivered arguably THE greatest disco anthem of the 21st century, the sing-along classic that is 'Beam Me Up'. Fittingly, Razor 'N' Tape has decided to mark the record's anniversary by delivering a trio of fresh remixes. Prins Thomas' A-side remix is the most faithful to the original, though it also boasts his usual dubbed-out effects, loose and heavy disco percussion and some wriggly acid lines amongst the disco bass, melancholic horn blasts and now-familiar vocals. Review: Like many Australian artists, Melbourne's Mildlife are keen to raise money for the Bushfire Relief Fund. To do that, they've decided to offer up this surprise Artwork re-edit of 2018 album track "Zwango Zop" and donate all sales revenue to the appeal. While the band's original version is a deep and groovy chunk of spaced-out disco, Artwork's version is a far more forthright, peak-time ready affair. He's beefed up the beats a little, pitched up the band's fine instrumentation and added some densely layered new synth sounds of his own. The result is an intergalactic disco workout straight from the top drawer that could well become one of the underground hits of the summer.

Review: Once falling prey to the tendency for rare records to be heavily priced up and thus rendered inaccessible to buyers on the secondhand market, Florence Miller's 'I'm Just A Lonely Girl/The Groove I'm In' now sees a long-awaited reissue via its original label P&P. A collaboration born behind the Piccadilly Records counter, Miserymix is the dark disco alias of Goth Spice and Mushy P. Together, these four contemporary tittilators, from 'Sexy Cowboys' to 'Name Game', chart the lighter ends of dark disco, keeping things hi-NRGied yet light-footed. Review: First released in Austria way back in 1986, Miss D's sole single, 'Moving', has long been an in-demand item on the dusty-fingered 'selector' scene. Listening to this much-needed reissue, it's easy to see why. In its' A-side 'driver mix' form, the track sees the mysterious Miss D deliver rhythmical spoken word verses over a rubbery electro-funk beat, killer synth bass and some Balearic-leaning melodies. Throw in a catchy (male) chorus, and you have a genuine winner. The flip side 'Move It Again' mix' is a dub mix-style affair that dispels with most of the vocals and instead focuses on the killer groove, mid-80s sample cut-ups, scratching sounds and some suitably spaced-out effects.

Review: Mixed Company were one of disco-era New York's most obscure bands, releasing just one track - the mighty "Let's Go Disco" - on a local radio station compilation in 1980 before disappearing from view. Amazingly, Rain & Shine has managed to find their master tapes, hence this first ever EP. Not only does it include "Let's Go Disco" - a lo-fi chunk of tropical disco-funk - but also fresh edits by Andrea Passenger of two previously unreleased cuts, the upbeat brilliance of "You've Got That Something" and the cheery "Guitar Breeeeze" [sic]. A-side 'H' crafts a rolling, 4/4 hip-hop tempo beats out of some classic disco licks and then adds Ol' Dirty Bastard and Kelis' vocals from one of the biggest hip-hop hits of 1999. It's a simple idea, brilliantly executed. Flipside 'HH' is equally as funky and accessible, with cut-up edit effects, rubbery slap-bass sounds, jangling acoustic guitar chords, warming synths and the lead vocal from a much-loved R&B jam. Review: 'Eki Bis' is a quintessential example of fresh modern-day soukous and zouk. Despite being first laid down by Congolese singer Lutchiana Mobulu in 1989, the single sounds just as fresh and relevant for the present day as it did back then, reissed via Hot Casa here for a crisp and infectious new reversion. The title track is emblematic of this enough, with high-pitched guitar noodlings and ecstatic raps delivered over a sizzlingly-hot beat skillet. Julien Lebrun's edit catapults the track into subtle space, adding careful echoes and refractions.

Review: Monchan and D Briggs are two US house producers whose involvement in the New York scene has seen to many a dazzling EP release lately. Their latest for Dailysession here is a dizzying yet loose affair, with its four tracks inspired by every sound from space disco to trance to nu-jazz. Impressive textures immerse tracks like 'Eagle Eyes' in grit, while edits from Monchan and visitor Prince Klassen revisit the formerly released 'Midnight Luv Bee' and 'Ibiza' respectively. Review: At the time of writing, Britain is basking in what feels like its 79th consecutive day of baking hot sunshine. What could be better, then, than another dose of tropical disco reworks from Sartorial and Moodena's fast-rising Tropical Disco imprint? Certainly, we can see a few open-air parties going wild to the impeccable piano solos and George Benson style jazz guitars of Moodeena's gently housed-up opener "Strawberry Jam", while Sartorial's "Feel It" is an urgent, guitar-laden rework of a familiar disco-funk favourite that should get things going on recognition factor alone. On the flip, Sartorial and Simon Kennedy successfully play around with a Pleasure-esque, jazz-funk-meets-disco number ("Got You The Floor"), before Sartorial gets the filters out for a tops-off dance through jazzy disco territory ("Electric Lane").

Review: Disco re-edit master Moplen has been busy touching up this Jackie Moore gem with sprinkles of his studio magic. The original vocal remains in tact as the trumpets and funky drum breaks power forwards the groove below. A vocal mix makes more of the sublime soul tones and then come two further versions on the flip. The Breakdown remix is one of big breaks but nothing detracts from the lung busting performance of Moore. Last of all is a Chin-mental mix so you really have plenty to chose from.

Review: A reissue of the 1977 classic by the NYC born gospel singer Melba Moore. Moore is the daughter of saxophonist Teddy Hill and R&B singer Bonnie Davis. She is responsible for such hits as "Read My Lips", "Keepin' My Lover Satisfied" and "Love's Comin' At Ya" among many others. This McFadden & Whitehead production first appeared on the A Portrait Of Melba LP and is one truly timeless, feelgood soul jam: it's perfect actually! On the flip we've got the more saucy and upbeat disco-funk infused "Make Me Believe In You" which appeared originally on 1979's Dancin' With Melba. Moore was inducted into the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame on October 4, 2015, in Detroit.

Review: John Morales is pretty universally credited with inventing the 12" when he decided he needed more run time for his remixes than could be found on a small 7" 45rpm. Those remixes were often done on the studio floor when he would cut up and splice analogue tape to insert new breaks and extended instrumentals. He remains as good as anyone at that and these new versions of Curtis Harrison's 'I Want Your Lovin' and 'I Want You All Tonight' show why. They are steamy and loved-up disco gems that have everything needed to set the floor alight- big vocals, big drums, lush synths.
