Review: Left Coast electronic music producer Dave Aju and The Invisible Art Trio have joined forces once again to deliver Glossolalia, a powerful seven-song album that defies conventional genres and transcends cultural differences. Recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic at the legendary G-Son studios in Atwater Village LA, Glossolalia is a timely and uplifting call-to-action that reflects the turbulent times we live in. With its twisted grooves and every song's lyrics in complete gibberish, Glossolalia takes listeners on a complex and nuanced sonic journey that leaves us with as many questions as answers. It is a testament to the power of collaborative music-making and a reminder that, despite our differences, we are united by our love of music and our shared human experiences.

First Class Love (6:32)
Review: The man who invented the extended 12" remix by cutting up reel to reel tapes and inserting new sections before stitching them back together is John Morales. The legendary producer now returns to BBE Music to celebrate the life and work of Teena Marie, a soul and R&B legend whose best moments make up this fantastic double album Love Songs & Funky Beats, which just about says it all. Morales mixed most of Marie's original works so knows the material inside out and back to front and is therefore the perfect person to rework, extend and subtly update it all with his own distinctive style.

Friday Night (8:33)

Saturday Express (5:10)
Oh Yeh Soweto (4:10)
Got Me Tight (5:51)
Review: Many will know Teaspoon & The Waves' incredible 'Oh Yeh Soweto' - a brilliant Afro-disco riff on Lamont Dozier's 'Going Back To My Roots' that has appeared on countless compilations and re-edit releases over the years - but fewer have heard the rest of the tracks on the South African band's incredible 1977 debut album (in part because original copies are rather hard to find). To those people, we'll say this: check out this Mr Bongo reissue right now! Blending Afro-jazz with jazz-funk, soul, deep funk and disco, every single track is a winner, with highlights including the celebratory 'Friday Night', the dazzling, duelling solos and heavy percussion of 'Saturday Express' and the life-affirming brilliance of 'Got Me Tight'.

Review: Known for their cover versions - having re-read Sly Stone, Plastic Bertrand, Les Chats Sauvages, and many more over the years - Telex managed to tread a fine line between comedy and innovation. Focusing heavily on a lo-fi synthesised sound, the Belgian alt-poppers would use plenty of humour in their work, but never allowed this to outshine or overshadow the musicality of it all. Released in 1980, Neurovision is a case in point. According to the band, this was their tongue-in-cheek entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, for which they were chosen as representatives for their home country in the same year. Deliberately banal lyrics, mostly referring to the competition itself, married to the glittering wonder of a proto-electronic soundtrack, mark it as a work of bold daring and a little genius. Sadly, it failed to secure them last place in the tournament, as they hoped, forcing them to settle for 17 out of 19.

Review: Tomoko Aran's More Relax is one of those red hot city pop records form the 80s. It came on Warner in 1984, to be exact, and was Aran's fourth album to be overseen by long-time Casiopea producer Shunsuke Miyazumi. It has a few subtle hints of boogie in a number of the tunes and overall is a relaxing listen with subdued funk in its bones. Tomoko is a strong singer-songwriter n her own right, and that also shines through with the structures and arrangements of these still fresh cuts.

Review: Two years and two months have passed since Scott Hansen delivered his fifth studio album Awake and there's a strong rumour that his sixth is en route. In the meantime, Ghostly have channelled the spirits to commission nine fittingly far-out, heavily textured remixes. From the faraway jungle breakbeats and spiralling arpeggios of Nitemove's shake-up to the sparse flute flexing and smoky beats of RJD2's jam by way of warped, time-bending nuances of Bibio's take, the all-star cast deliver an all-star collection of versions. This will keep us more than happy until the next Tycho tale arrives.

Laseech - "Space Sunday" (4:51)
Sorcerer - "Just For Love" (4:20)
Review: The Mellophonia label offshoot Fusion Sequence won us over with its well-presented and great-sounding first EP, and now a quick follow-up does the same. This one is another various artists affair that starts with some nice futuristic robot disco from Vanity Project. There is more organic and lush Balearic from Bobby Bricks and Pacific Coliseum follows that spine-tingling Ibiza sunset vibe. On the flip side, there is everything from late-night electronic house to lazy disco via Sorcerer's blissed out 'Just For Love' which would entrance any dance floor. There's as much quality as there is variation on this one, which makes it a useful EP indeed.
