With System II Audiophile Circuits League presents a powerful modular Synthesizer with two full-featured Oscillators and an extremely musical Lowpass filter. Based on the Multifunction Discrete VCO and the Variable Sync VCO, System II serves with an unbelievably vast sound spectrum, from thick basses to aggressive Leads. System II is a beautiful compact system, suitable for all situations.

System 2 is a modular instrument built entirely from ACL components. The search for a microcomputer in this system would be in vain because all modules are analog and for the most part discrete.

Impulse Command is a compact true analogue synth in a neat, smart, package. Their circuits are not locked down by CPUs. Controls are not quantised and read by CPUs. The CAT has the ability to accept any keyboard controller via MIDI. The signals generated can be tweaked via the Pitch Bend slider which can bend a note up or down one octave. Bump this up to two octaves by flipping the Octave Shift switch up or down. Use the Glide slider to change how fast a note transitions to another; up is faster, down is slower. Combine that with the LFO Freq slider to control the LFO and ADSR repeat tempo and you can create some amazing pulsating portamentos.

The very heart of the CAT's sound is its two VCOs. The Duophonic/Paraphonic nature of the CAT allows both oscillators to be controlled independently. Use the Fine and Coarse Frequency controls to tune VCO1 to VCO2. Keyboard control on the CAT can be set to either Mono or Poly. Poly mode lets VCO1 generate the highest note played on the keyboard while VCO2 handles the lowest allowing two notes to be played simultaneously. Setting the switch to Mono mode makes VCO1 generate the lowest note depressed on the keyboard.

Waveform switches on both VCOs allow different waveforms to be patched in from the LFO. Choose between Sine, Square, Sample and Hold and even pitch modulation through each VCO. Turning the Modulation Depth knobs in either direction controls the intensity of the effect. VCO2 also comes with a Sync switch that locks VCO1 with it and has them act as one huge oscillator to produce more complex waveforms and dramatic results. Mix VCO1 into VCO2 or vice versa and the CAT can produce some really tasty tones that make themselves at home in your next synth jam.

Adjust the Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release via the matching sliders and to shape your signal. The AR transient generator works similarly to the ADSR but with less detailed control over the envelope. You can also set the ADSR to automatically repeat or only when a key is held down. The Sample and Hold switch can be set so the VCO1 setting is sampled or, when set to Noise mode, produce a random output pattern. Versatile Oscillator:

MS-101-BU's authentic 3340 Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) provides an incredible range of 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms for sculpting the perfect sound. Options include: saw, triangle, square/pwm and octave-divided square sub-oscillator. Additionally, the VCO can be adjusted across a wide, 4-octave range (16', 8', 4', and 2'). Versatile VCF:

The very heart of MS-101-BU's sound is its highly-flexible Voltage Control Filter (VCF), which includes faders for: cutoff Frequency (10 Hz to 20 kHz); Resonance (0 to self-oscillation); Envelope and Modulation depth, and Keyboard follow (0 to 100%) to dial in the perfect sound. MS-101-BU's VCF can be modulated via the ADSR, keyboard tracking and Bender controller. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob sets the depth, while the FM Source selector lets you further modify the signal by choosing from: pulse; sawtooth; sub oscillator 1 octave down; 2 octaves down; narrow 2 octaves down, and Noise.

The Envelope, Please:

MS-101-BU's Envelope generator features 4 ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release) faders that help you craft incredible sounds, and utilizes a 3-position switch for Gate, Gate + Trigger and LFO. When applied to the Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA), the ADSR envelope is used to control the level of the note being played over time. When applied to the VCF, the ADSR envelope is used to control the cut-off frequency of the filter for each note played over time. In addition, the ADSR envelope can also be used to affect the VCO pulse width modulation.

Onboard Sequencer & Arpeggiator:

MS-101-BU's sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. You can record, save and recall up to 64 patterns, all of which can be stored in the 8 banks, each holding up to 8 patterns. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode, which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. The onboard Arpeggiator features 8 patterns (you can use just by playing a chord, which the arpeggiator then sequences through your selected pattern. Notes: The Behringer Pro-1 is a clone of the popular retro classic Sequential Circuits Pro-One which was once conceived to be a monophonic Prophet-5. Those who know and love recordings of Depeche Mode and Yazoo, will enjoy recognizing a lot of those sounds with the Pro-1.

The two assertive oscillators, each based on a CEM3340 chip, have sawtooth and square waveforms, an octave switch, fine tuning and pulse width control. Oscillator A can be synchronized to oscillator B, the second tone generator is additionally equipped with the triangle waveform and can be switched to low mode as well as decoupled from the pitch control. Both VCOs are brought together in the mixer, where the noise generator is also located, which can be replaced by an external signal. The beautiful basic sound is processed with a characterful 24dB lowpass filter, also known as Curtis VCF. It behaves similar to a Moog filter, but due to the IC CEM3320 it sounds different than the transistor cascade. The two crisp ADSR envelopes are assigned to the filter and VCA. An LFO with three waveforms is connected to the targets via the modulation bus. The special features of this instrument include the waveforms that can be activated simultaneously in both oscillators and in the LFO.

The modulations are assigned on the left side of the control panel. The filter envelope, oscillator B and the LFO, each with their own attenuator, are available in parallel as sources. These are assigned to the targets frequency oscillator A+B, pulse width oscillator A+B and cutoff directly or via the modulation wheel (or midi controller). Wild oscillator drifts, sync sounds, sirens, FM for filter and/or oscillator A as well as pulse width modulation are possible if used with care. If you turn everything up at once, it gets really wild! The modulation bus is the hottest feature of the Pro-1 next to the sound.

The ingeniously simple sequencer provides access to two patterns, each of which can be up to 40 steps long; pauses can also be programmed. The notes are played via a connected MIDI keyboard. After the input, the patterns can be transposed with the keyboard. The Arpeggiator primarily offers the playback modes Up and Up&Down, but can also be integrated into the pattern. Synchronization to other equipment is done via the analog clock input or MIDI/USB.

Notes: Deckard's Dream MkII is an eight-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer in desktop format. It is inspired by a certain cinematic sound from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The synth features a fully analog signal path with two independent layers per voice. Discrete waveshapers help to reproduce the oddities of the original waveforms, especially the sawtooth glitch, which is a big part of the CS-80 sound. An autotune function assures that all 16 VCOs are tracking perfectly. It even offers detune and microtuning settings for a more vintage feel. With the addition of MIDI implementation, 256 presets (which can be managed on the integrated OLED display) and an upcoming software editor provided by Spektro Audio, this vintage inspired poly synth is at home in any modern studio.

For each layer, the synth offers a VCO with square, saw and sine waveforms, discrete 12 dB HP and LP filters with separate resonance controls, an ADSR for the filter with adjustable initial and attack levels, and an ADSR dedicated to the VCA. The synth also provides velocity and aftertouch controls for filter brilliance and volume levels.

Furthermore, polyphonic aftertouch gives Deckard's Dream expression that has only been possible on a very small number of synthesizers. MPE technology (using controllers by ROLI, LinnStrument, Haken) takes this even further with the addition of polyphonic pitch bend.
The Deckard's Dream MkII delivers everything the previous version did, in a new thin and light tabletop format with woodsides or rack-ears (both included). It also brings additional controls over Sustain modes and timing.

The unique architecture of KIJIMI features smoothly variable waveforms on each fully analog oscillator, a rich SSI2144 lowpass filter, and a wealth of deeply programmable modulators, making it one of the most powerful polyphonic analog synthesizers ever made.

KIJIMI features eight voices, each with two oscillators + one suboscillator, a lowpass filter, VCA, 6 envelopes, and 16 LFOs. A deeply programmable modulation matrix along with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch route these modulators into a variety of destinations to create anything from subtle movements in bass lines to complex, organically evolving soundscapes. Polyphonic aftertouch introduces another level of touch- controlled modulation independent to each voice, making KIJIMI a truly powerful performance tool.

Variable wave shaping of its analog oscillators is a feature unique to KIJIMI's synthesizer design. Rather than selecting a single waveform KIJIMI offers a range of waveforms from Triangle through Saw to Pulse waves, passing smoothly through every shape in between. Using modulation sources to control the oscillator waveform brings a new dimension to the sound sculpting process. Each oscillator can be modulated independently, detuned in semitone intervals and synced to each other, VCO2 can even be used to FM VCO and filter, bringing rich harmonic content to the initial tone.

KIJIMI's SSI2144-based lowpass filter is an updated version of a legendary design found in some of the most powerful analog synthesizers throughout history. Apart from being a gorgeous, rich lowpass filter for typical duties, a powerful feature found in the KIJIMI is the ability to FM the filter via VCO2, resulting in sounds ranging from atonal clangorous FX to aggressive vocal-sounding formants. The filter cutoff and resonance can be independently modulated, providing a filter section, which is far more complex than most analogue polyphonic synthesizers.

KIJIMI's two envelopes are set up in typical ADSR mode by default, but a CYCLE button can be switched on to enter a cycling trapezoidal mode reminiscent of the function generator found in the EMS Synthi. In this mode, the 4 parameters are instead used to control Rise, Time On, Fall, and Time Off, resulting in a uniquely controllable cyclic function. Each envelope also features 3 switchable speed modes ranging from fast, medium, or slow.

By default, KIJIMI features two powerful LFOs - Each with many selectable waveforms, rate, and a dedicated A/D envelope for modulating its rate on each new trigger. This means that each LFO can have its speed modulated on each new note independently of any other modulators across the synthesizer.

The modulation matrix in KIJIMI is what makes this instrument truly special: 8 destinations for each LFO, and 4 destinations for ADSR2, each with its own button to switch between Unipolar (+/-) or Bipolar modulation. Furthermore, the new firmware introduces the ability to assign different LFO settings (rate, waveform, EG and depth) to EACH individual destination. Below the Modulation Matrix are the performance modulators: Velocity and MPE- based polyphonic aftertouch which can be routed to 6 simultaneous destinations, each with its own bipolar level setting. With the ability to control filter, VCA, pitchbend, sub oscillator level, and 2 LFOs each modulating up to 8 destinations independently on each voice through your aftertouch performance, the expressive possibilities are truly limitless.

Notes: The Business Card Synthesizer is a tiny synth that can be connected to a Business Card Sequencer, other synth gear, or played by itself.

Headphones can be connected directly to the output of the synth, and there are plenty of knobs to play with, so you can easily make noises anywhere. Great for learning about synthesizers!

S&H Button: Enables Sample & Hold, which disables the external CV IN jack and uses LFO1 and LFO2 to determine oscillator pitch. LFO1 sets the sample rate (SHAPE is ignored for this), and LFO2 is the wave that gets sampled.

GATE Button: Manually turns on the gate so sound comes out of the synth. This control is momentary, but you can latch it on by tapping the S&H button while holding the GATE button down.

COARSE TUNE: Adjusts the pitch of the oscillator up or down in large increments

FINE TUNE: Adjusts the pitch of the oscillator up or down in fine increments

SHAPE: Changes the shape of the wave produced by the main oscillator (VCO). Turning this control fully CW gives you a triangle wave. Start turning it CCW takes you through sawtooth/ramp, then at about the 12:00 position you get a square wave. Continue turning it CCW and you get several higher duty cycle square waves

GLIDE: Adjusts the rate at which the pitch of the VCO takes to go between pitches (whether changed by the COARSE TUNE knob or CV IN). Fully CCW causes the pitch to react almost instantly, while fully CW makes it take its sweet time.

LFO 1 / LFO 2 SHAPE: Changes the shape of the waves produced by the low-frequency oscillators (LFOs). The shapes are similar to those of the VCO, except that the LFOs have sawtooth/ramp waves that go both up and down (since you can actually hear the difference at LFO rates).

LFO 1 / LFO 2 RATE: Controls how fast the LFOs go.

LFO -> VCO: Routes the two LFOs to control the pitch of the main oscillator. The 12:00 position is basically "off", and the LFOs have no effect on pitch. Start turning the control CCW and LFO1 starts changing the pitch of the VCO. Maximum effect is at about 10:00. Continuing to turn the control starts to bring in LFO2 as well. All the way CCW gives you full effect from both LFO1 and LFO2.

Turning the control CW from 12:00 does essentially the same thing, but brings in LFO2 first, then LFO1.

This might seem like kind of a weird control, but it gives you quite a bit of routing flexibility with one knob. You can have no pitch modulation, LFO1, LFO2, LFO1 with a little LFO2, or LFO2 with a little LFO1.

LFO -> VCA: Routes the two LFOs to control the amplitude of the oscillator. (See LFO -> VCO control description above for more information about how the control works.)

ATTACK: Controls how fast the audio amplitude fades in when the gate is triggered. CCW is fast and CW is slow.

DECAY: Controls how fast the audio amplitude fades out when the gate is released. CCW is fast and CW is slow.

VOLUME: Controls the overall volume of the signal coming from AUDIO OUT.

FILTER: Changes the cutoff frequency of an analog low-pass filter. Turn the knob fully CW and all frequencies (that you can hear) are let through. Start turning it CCW and the high frequencies start getting cut off, until the sound becomes muddy / muffled. Use in conjunction with the SHAPE control to get the tonal quality you are looking for.

Connections:
CV IN: Accepts a 1 volt/octave control voltage to control the pitch of the oscillator. It responds from about 0-5V, but voltages outside of this range won't cause damage. The CV input is quantized, so only valid (western scale) notes are played. This input is ignored when Sample & Hold is enabled.
GATE IN: A voltage greater than about 2.5V will turn on the gate and allow audio to come out the output of the synth.
AUDIO OUT: Connect to an amplifier or another synth. The jack has both the tip and ring connected, so you can even use stereo headphones and hear sound from both ears.
Power: Connect 7.5-15VDC to this 3.5mm TS jack to power the synthesizer. The tip is positive (don't worry, there's a protection diode in case you get it reversed). You can get power from a 9V battery, AC adapter, or you may even be able to find an output on your modular synthesizer that can provide enough current.
