Review: Four years since their last album, German DJ duo and genre-benders Mo' Horizons have become renowned for their mastery of the latin, and the world at large. You probably already know their music without even realising: Ikea, Renault, Kia and over 500 different music compilations can all attest to the genius of Ralf Droesemeyer and Mark Foh Wetzler. Nu-club, bossa nova and Brazilian funk culminate together in groovy, one-of-a-kind tracks that combine the best of all worlds. 2000s euroclub aesthetics combine with ska guitar lines and killer Latin soul drums. No better is this demonstrated on single 'Anotha Bossa' with Guida da Palma, a feel-good carnival anthem.

AkizzBeatzz - "I'm An African" (3:29)
Lego Edit - "Sahara Adventures" (Lego re-edit) (4:58)
Review: AkizzBeatzz and Lego Edit join forces to mutually reinforce what they both do best: making disco edits and reworks of classic funk, soul and Afrobeat, and occassionally offering up the odd original track. The 12" 'African Groove' is a downtempo and weighty meditation on what it means to hail from the continent, with Akizz' A-side 'I'm An African' playfully laying down a diasporic big beat excursion, replete with regional instrumentation and defiant political vocal samples. Lego Edit's 'Sahara Adventures', meanwhile, works a chugging beat around a central algaita line.

Review: Recorded in a single weekend, 'Yagana' is a choice afro-disco and synth collab from Margate 5-piece Pigeon. With the band drunkenly forming after a pub session, it's got Guinean singer Falle Nioke heading up frontman duties, while Graham Godfrey on drums, Steve Pringle on keys, Tom Dream on guitar and Josh Ludlow on bass take up phat instrumental space. The result is a cosmic space jam and call into a cold universe, facing eternity with a friendly, synthy, and even grungy sonic greeting: "it's been a while".
