Review: After fine releases on labels like Tresor, Multi Culti, and Hard Fist, Antonio De Oto aka A-Tweed presents his debut solo album Spring Music via Abstrakce Records. This LP marks a shift toward minimalism, where reverb and echo take centre stage in a rich mix of acid, dub, downbeat, electro and tribal rhythms. Slow, textured beats blend with psychedelic flourishes throughout to make for an experience that provokes plenty of reflection and contemplation. With a focus on depth of vibes over chasing trends, A-Tweed crafts a meditative yet danceable journey, even though he largely explores slow tempos and detailed productions.

Sleepy's Gambit (6:01)

Review: Alien D is the NYC-based producer Daniel Creahan, and he's back with a debut on Theory Therapy that taps into widescreen worlds of techno immersion. Departing from the ambient abstraction of his previous work, this album as a subtle kinetic pulse with tracks like 'Soil Dub' and 'Sleepy's Gambit' propel listeners forward with dubwise rhythms crafted for deep dancefloors. The album builds on an infectious, steady groove with repeating phrases and subtle shifts that keep the music in constant motion. Conceived in the first days after the COVID lockdown, these sounds exude a hopeful quality and capture the transcendent moments of early-morning parties when the moment is full of unbridled hope for what might come.

Review: Thrumming with conceptual aplomb, jazz mastermind and Ezra Collective co-founder Joe Armon-Jones's new album All The Quiet is finally revealed to us. Residua of jazz, funk, dub, hip hop and soul abound on the second chapter of a two-part Aquarii Records release, which Jones founded. With guest features from the likes of Greentea Peng, Yazmin Lacey, Hak Baker and Oscar Jerome, the record complements Jones and Aquarii's stated mission to blend genres and cross stylistic streams, from atmospheric electronica to dub, while building and subverting tropes of apocalypse, prophecy and redemption.

Review: The multi-talented Joe Armon-Jones is back in the game with his most ambitious and self-defined solo work yet. All The Quiet (Part II) is a colourful collision of jazz, funk, dub, hip-hop and soul that was entirely written, produced and mixed by the man himself. His work as part of Mercury Prize-winning Ezra Collective is what established Armon-Jones, but his evolution as a solo artist on his own label, Aquarii Records, has been just as essential. This follow-up to 2019's Turn To Clear View features collaborators like Greentea Peng, Yazmin Lacey, Hak Baker and Nubya Garcia and is a deeply personal sound that veers from expansive and cosmic to more intimate and tender.

Review: Just three months after its predecessor was released, the second and final part of Joe Armon-Jones' epic All The Quiet album series lands in stores. Entirely written, produced and mixed by the man himself - with a few friends and high-profile guests popping up to add instruments or take to the mic - the set offers atmospheric, immersive and perfectly-pitched musical fusions rooted in his various sonic influences (think jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and dub). Highlights are plentiful, from the deep and dreamy jazz-soul shuffle of 'Another Place' (featuring significant contributions from vocalists Greentea Peng and Wu-Lu), to the warming, dubbed-out soul of top-tier Yazmin Lacey collaboration 'One Way Traffic'.

Multi Besso (8:20)
Unpeak (6:33)
Review: ATEQ and Samuel Rohrer's latest collaboration delves into avant-garde jazz and ambient music and again shows they have great studio versatility. The EP opens with 'Tune Analysis' where delicate sonic elements come together like falling snowflakes. 'Vuh' transitions into percussive sounds and allows them to take centre stage. On the B-side, the percussion evolve into a more structured rhythm and create a meditative, incantatory atmosphere. The final track elegantly synthesises these exploration and brings the EP to a refined conclusion that both makes you think but also want to move.

Review: Some 13 years on from his first appearance in South America's electronic underground, Berlin-based Argentine producer Barrio Lindo opens a new chapter with the newly moulted 'Ecdysis'. After 2022's fully acoustic 'Espuma De Mar', this new set finds him circling back to dancefloors with a renewed focus on texture, groove and sonic globalism. Made between 2024 and 2025 and road-tested during live pitstops, the EP blends arpeggiated synths, agile basslines, Andean instrumentation and tight percussion with sprinklings of Caribbean riddim and Dabke to rechopped hip-hop structures. Nicolas Dominguez Bedini (Buenos Aires) and Hou (Miyazaki) lend lyrical and vocal warmth, reflincting Lindo's split life between Latin America and Japan.

Review: Edinburgh's Barry Can't Swim wattles organic textural elements around progressive house and techno emotes, inviting comparisons to Fred Again's pyjama-wearing, electronic cousin. Bursting on to the scene in the early 20s with bedroomy, Bandcamp self-starters like 'Different' and 'I Don't Want To Be Here', the common thread in Barry's oeuvre has become known as one of introspection, isolation and regression to childhood. Loner now hears him delve ever deeper into his establishing unthought known, one of solitary but deep-feeling inner world-building, matching the tremulous intensity of his fluid, jam sesh live shows.

Review: Barry Can't Swim, the Edinburgh-born electronic artist, shares his highly anticipated new album Loner on Ninja Tune, attesting the excitement factor of a new artist whose star power has reached boiling point. Proceeding the electrifying single drop 'Different' - a fan favourite and fixture of his enigmatic live performances - Loner carries on from the last Ninja LP When Will We Land?, as Barry continues to reflect on his personal journey, by way of toyshop melodies and ahead-of-the-curve dance textures. Barry explains, "If my first album was a collage of all the music I loved growing up, this album is my truest expression of myself and the past year of my life."

Review: Edinburgh-born Barry Can't Swim made a solitary splash with Loner, now reissued some months after its initial release on CD. The album dived deep into the producer's personal landscape, shaped by a year of self-reflection and a global total live show wipeout, finding romance in the contrasts between adolescent aloneness and global superstardom: in the 21st century, we find it a relief to believe they're hardly incompatible. Lead single 'Different' has in the time since set itself apart on dancefloors the world over, its euphoria meeting a patchwork of influences, while always seeming to conjure some wonder and speculation as to the man behind the beats: always navigating identity, (dis)connection and change.

Agatha (Voilaaa remix) (6:39)
Forest Nativity (Red Axes edit) (7:00)
Review: No downloads, no streams - this one's strictly vinyl. Via Ozileka and Africa Seven, Francis Bebey Remixed invites four contemporary heads to tinker with the legacy of the late Cameroonian pioneer. Long before it was cool, Bebey folded traditional West African music into folk, funk, jazz and drum machines, shaping a sound that echoed far beyond his lifetime. Now A7 Edits hands the reels to Psychemagik, Turbotito, Voilaaa and Red Axes, whose rerubs range from dubbed-out psych to Afro-disco and woozy house. It's less a greatest-hits package, more a respectful twist on classics by producers with deep crates and good ears; only one extra mix from Josh Ludlow lands digital-only, but the rest is locked to wax.

The Old Way Was Gone
The Way Of Time (On & On)
Review: Geir Jenssen (Biosphere) marks his AD93 debut with The Way Of Time, wrapping elucted echo and looping synth drift around spoken fragments of Elizabeth Madox Roberts' great 1926 novel The Time Of Man. A Midwestern gothic literary staple, Roberts' novel is about the daughter of a Kentucky tenant farmer, and Jenssen's haunting use of Joan Lorring's voice from the 1951 radio play adaptation readapts his usual icy predilections for suitably huger desert horizons. Rather than treating the vocal as ornament, he folds it deep into the mix, letting it dissolve into the melodic architecture.

All Stars Have Names (8:01)
The Old Way Was Gone (5:29)
The Way Of Time (On & On) (7:46)
Review: Elizabeth Madox Roberts' The Time Of Man (1926) is an episodic modern novel, tracing the life of Ellen Chesser, the daughter of poor white tenant farmers in rural Kentucky. Roberts treats the main character's movement through different landscapes and seasons waveringly, grappling with poverty, loss, love, and the push-pull between solitude and connection by way of a lytic narrative that shifts and resolves atemporally. Biosphere's new record carries the transmission chain further, naming itself after the novel while interspersing its hiss-topped drum machine actions with vocal snippets from Joan Lorring's radio play version. Slowly transcendent, Biosphere presides with arid royalty over a slow but satiating new six-track release.

Review: MTV's legendary Unplugged series was always a great way to catch a different side to a range of high-profile artists. And who better to step up than the one-of-a-kind Bjork? This raw, intimate snapshot of her early solo brilliance is Bjork at her most exposed, unfiltered and utterly captivating. A timeless performance stripped of heavy production, her distinctive voice takes centre stage and reveals a signature vulnerable yet commanding presence. Recorded in 1994, the set blends tracks from Debut with acoustic arrangements that highlight her experimental flair-harps, strings, and off-kilter percussion bring new life to songs like Human Behaviour' and 'Like Someone In Love'. The live setting amplifies her emotional intensity and drags you even deeper into the heart of her maverick musical mind.

Review: Much of the Black Dog's work of recent years has in some way been inspired by their long-held love of Brutalism, a heavily debated architectural style of the 1950s, 60s and 70s that's much in evidence in their home city of Sheffield. It makes sense, then, that the Steel City trio would record a sequel to 2023's This Brutal Life, a set that ranks amongst their most authentically immersive and sonically detailed of recent times. As sequels go, This Brutal Life 2 is impressive, with the long-serving collective blurring the boundaries between atmospheric IDM, ambient, dub techno and more angular concoctions. Its many highlights include the yearning, beat-free bliss of 'The End of Back To Back', the slow-burn IDM shuffle of 'Motif Lasdun' and their stunning tribute to one of British Brutalism's most famous residential buildings, 'Park Hill Forever'.

Review: Mike Mitchell is an American drummer from Dallas, Texas, who records as Blaque Dynamite. He plays across jazz, hip-hop and fusion and has worked with greats old and new like Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock and Kamasi Washington. As a solo artist, he has dropped two albums in the last two years, and Stop Calling Me from 2023 is one that now makes it way to vinyl. It is a wild ride between intense jazz workouts that recall Sun Ra, smoky deep house that taps into Detroit and downbeat explorations like 'I'm Not Trippin'' that are densely layered, textural and infused with a new kind of soul.

Review: Blaque Dynamite is the work of Mike Mitchell, a drummer from Texas who has played with neo-soul queen Erykah Badu, and jazz legends old and new in Herbie Hancock and Kamasi Washington. He also makes challenging, defiantly original house music on his own and on top of a couple of albums worth checking from the last two years, comes this EP, which arrived late last year but now debuts on wax. It has a couple of short, sketchy originals that are lo-fi, low-key hip hop vignettes, while JT Donaldson and Stefan Ringer add their own more club-ready reworks. Ben Hixon & Blaque Dynamite also hot up for a remix that is all shimmering melodies and shuffling percussive rhythms.

Review: Manifest Everything is a powerful double album from Boddhi Satva that surveys his groundbreaking work in ancestral-inspired Afro-electronic music. This edition compiles tracks from Manifestation, which was a Grammy contender for Best Alternative Music Album, and In Spite of Everything, and together they give a great insight into his creative power and emotional range. This one is dedicated to his late mother and braids personal reflections with singular rhythms and soulful club anthems. Boddhi's cultural impact has been endorsed by a resolution from both the New York State Senate and U.S. Congress, and this gatefold format includes liner notes and Basquiat-inspired visuals.

Review: Nottingham duo Brown Fang's Netherfield Lagoons for Delia Recordings is a welcome escape to another time and place. You might not have ever experienced somewhere as blissful as this, but it still feels familiar and friendly with its ambient, downtempo, and Balearic influence. Notable heads like Colleen Murphy, Gilles Peterson and Phil Cooper have all been early fans of this, which takes you from the shores of Ibiza at sundown to sunrise in the Appalachian mountains. Tracks like 'Light No Fires' and 'The White Barred Emperor Pt1' have intricate fretless basslines, lush synths and organic textures that draw comparisons to artists like The Blue Nile and Robert Fripp and are just part of a sublime 70-minute soother.

Review: Given that even their most dancefloor-focused tunes are remarkably deep, immersive and sonically detailed, you'd think that Chaos In The CBD's music would suit the album format - it's just that until now, they've not recorded a full-length. A Deeper Life, then, marks a big step forward in the Helliker-Hales brothers' career. Predictably, it's borderline brilliant. Made with the assistance of a cast of collaborators and guest performers (flautist Nathan Haines, boogie revivalist Saucy Lady and original NJ garage-house hero Josh Milan included), it sees the Kiwi duo sashay their way through enveloping, musically expansive cuts - many downtempo and home-listening focused - that variously mix and match elements of deep house, nu-jazz, dub, 80s soul, hip-hop, trip-hop, Latin soul and much more besides. A genuine triumph, even by their high standards.

Review: Oblique Records offers a four-track vinyl-only selection of stripped, club-ready house cuts shaped by UKG inflections and percussive detail. Velvet Velour's 'Make It Hot' leads with a swung rhythm, vocal stabs, and a warm bassline that keeps the energy tight without crowding the mix. Eli Atala's 'Fat Albert' runs deeper, with clipped low-end and a sharper rhythmic frame. The Velvet Velour remix of the same track adds glide and bounce, pushing the groove forward while softening some of the original's edges. On the B-side, MTTY's 'Wally' closes the set with swung drums and sparse atmospherics - minimal in structure but tuned for pace. Each track is functional without sounding generic, keeping arrangement changes minimal and geared for blend. A direct, neatly cut pack of tools with just enough variation to stretch across a warm-up or mid-set.

Review: Cola Boyy tragically passed away in March 2024 so Quit to Play Chess is his final album. He was well known and loved for his unique blend of neo-disco, funk and innovative musical styles and gained fans worldwide from Coachella to Paris. Following his EP Black Boogie Neon in 2018 and debut album Prosthetic Boombox back in 2021, this album is his grooviest yet as it blends hip-hop, r&b and drum & bass while featuring collaborations with Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT, Jared Solomon and Nate Fox, who has worked with Chance the Rapper. These 12 inventive, passionate tracks are a fitting, boundary-pushing farewell to Cola Boyy's musical legacy.

Le Reve (Lexx remix) (3:58)
Review: Now six EPs deep into his catalogue, this artist continues to refine a signature Balearic sound that evokes sun-drenched beaches and late summer evenings. The standout track here is 'Le Reve', a lush and hypnotic piece that channels the spirit of Cafe del Mar's golden era. It opens with warm pads and a dreamy melodic flow that gently washes over the listener. The highlight, though, is the vocal performance from Liza Carrey. Her voice is breathy, sultry and haunting, weaving through the track with a gentle intensity that perfectly complements the mood. For the remix, Swiss producer Lexx steps in and subtly transforms the original into something even more relaxed. A laid-back Latin rhythm with soft percussive flourishes and beachside warmth, turning the track into a slow-burning coastal cruiser. It is a perfect blend of downtempo charm and balearic soul, maintaining the emotional tone of the original while adding a fresh rhythmic touch. A serene and seductive journey.

Motoric Patterns (Kaidi Tatham remix) (4:57)
Review: South African producer Cool Affair returns with a fluid, genre-slipping cut that glides between broken beat, downtempo and deep house. 'Motoric Patterns' pulses gently with smoky keys and layered vocal harmonies, locking into a low-slung, hypnotic rhythm that feels simultaneously meditative and sensual. It's a subtle burner, rooted in groove but elevated by harmonic detail. On the flip, broken beat originator Kaidi Tatham delivers a fizzing rework-fractured drums, jazz-funk flourishes and a brightened vocal hook that pulls the track toward the dancefloor without sacrificing its soulful core. Where the original stretches inward, Tatham's remix reaches outwards with sparkle and flair. A seamless pairing of two artists who understand restraint, rhythm, and the soft power of a beautifully voiced chord.

Review: This expanded vinyl edition of mixes of The Cure's latest LP plays like a love letter to distortion, atmosphere and the spaces in between. Robert Smith i the Crawley-born architect of dream-pop dread i doesn't just sign off on the remixes; he threads them into something tactile and deeply referential. On wax, everything breathes more. Craven Faults' rework of 'I Can Never Say Goodbye' stretches across the grooves like a slow fog; you can almost hear the reverb decay. Trentemoller's version of 'And Nothing Is Forever' pulses with distant thunder, while Ex-Easter Island Head bring a kind of percussive drone minimalism that feels at once ancient and alien. The inclusion of post-rock outliers like Mogwai and 65daysofstatic leans into the format's cinematic sprawl i these are not just remixes but alternate timelines. Smith curates the artwork, adds handwritten notes, sketches, fragments of ephemera i each fold and crease of the tri-gatefold sleeve feels intentional. Even the sequencing feels weighted: Four Tet and Anja Schneider on one end, Twilight Sad and Moreno on the other. This isn't just a deluxe package i it's a monument. A showcase of how far The Cure's music can stretch, bend and re-form without losing that original ache.

Review: A four sided selection of remixes of the goth kingpins' widely acclaimed and long awaited latest album Songs of a Lost World. From the moment Paul Oakenfold's 'I Can Never Say Goodbye' rework opens proceedings i lush strings, half-submerged vocals, and a cinematic pace i it's clear that curation, not just contribution, has shaped the form. Orbital turn 'Endsong' into a glistening spiral of sequencers and tension, while Sally C's raw house take on 'A Fragile Thing' ups the pulse without disturbing the gloom. Smith i still unmistakably the same outsider from Crawley, West Sussex i guides things with restraint, letting the space speak louder than the noise. Four Tet's version of 'Alone' closes the first disc like a forgotten lullaby, cracked and glinting. You don't get every remix i the more textural, post-rock turns are gone i but you do get a sharp cross-section that keeps faith with both atmosphere and momentum. It's the kind of record that feels designed for the night: not to lift it, exactly, but to sink into it willingly, track by track.

ALL I EVER AM (Mura Masa remix)
Review: More than four decades after he first appeared in smudged eyeliner and a mop of jet-black hair, Robert Smith is still finding new ways to pull his music apart and stitch it back together. This new remix collection i assembled and curated by Smith himself i feels less like a victory lap and more like a restless dissection of a legacy he's still actively shaping. The collaborators here are hardly incidental: Four Tet, Orbital, Ame, Chino Moreno, Mura Masa, Trentemoller, Mogwai. It reads like a list built by someone still hungrily tuned into the present, not stuck in the past. And true to form, the results are all over the place i a feature, not a flaw. Some tracks lean into grandeur: Paul Oakenfold's take on 'I Can Never Say Goodbye' opens with all the sweeping melodrama you'd expect, while Daybreakers stretch 'WarSong' into widescreen synthwork. Elsewhere, Shanti Celeste and Ex-Easter Island Head bring a strange intimacy to 'Alone', teasing out its ache with a different kind of spaciousness. At times, you wonder if Smith enjoys seeing how far his work can be bent before it breaks. But it never does i even filtered through others' hands, his sense of tension, drama and deep emotional unease holds everything together.

Review: Robert Smith has always treated remixing less like revision, more like ritual i a habit that's followed him since his days in Crawley, West Sussex and then surfacing officially on the first Cure remix album, 1990's Mixed Up. This triple-disc release of reworkings from the band's latest LP Songs of a Lost World feels assembled with obsessive care, mapping out every possible mood lurking beneath the surface. There are club-ready flips, yes i Sally C, Danny Briottet and Gregor Tresher all push the rhythm forward i but they sit beside glacial pieces that feel more like haunted sketches than reworks. Mura Masa's take on 'All I Ever Am' is disintegrated almost beyond recognition, its vocal a flickering memory. Mogwai's 'Endsong' feels like the end of the world in slow motion. Even Chino Moreno turns in something striking i 'WarSong' morphs into a sludgy howl with heat-warped edges. But it's the sequencing that surprises: these aren't bolted together, but grouped in arcs, as though Smith were arranging the bones of an old idea into something still alive. Four Tet's version of 'Alone' is a high point i deeply textured but featherlight. Like all The Cure's output, what really matters is the feeling of being drawn somewhere, and Smith's hand never letting go.

Review: Welsh duo ddwy - Naomi and Ronan - continue their slow-burn rise with a luminous four-tracker that fuses ambient shimmer with dubwise propulsion. 'Beaming Backwards' opens on a melodic tip, weaving arpeggiated pads around a restrained but propulsive groove. 'Stars Stars' leans hazier, its synth textures and soft-focus rhythms blurring the line between dream pop and deep house. On the B-side, 'Peak Smile' introduces low-slung bass and echo chamber FX, pushing their sound into more dubbed-out territory. Final track 'Heuldro'r Haf' (Welsh for "summer solstice") floats in beatless form - misty, delicate, and grounded by a sense of melancholic stasis. Having previously appeared on Munich's Public Possession, ddwy now offer their most balanced and evocative work to date, signalling a quietly assured presence in the continuum of melodic, leftfield UK electronica.

Review: Lorenzo Dewberry bridges the soulful sounds of Chicago and Detroit with a cosmic, genre-blurring house EP on Excursions. A rising talent with past releases on Ten Lovers Music, Dewberry showcases impressive musicality and lush production across four standout cuts. "You're Enough" (feat. Janet Coco) opens with Balearic warmth and sunset vibes, while "Open Skies" drifts into dreamy, melodic territory. Anthony Nicholson's remix adds jazzy keys and shimmering synths, elevating the groove further. Closing track "Free Your Mind" slows the tempo, offering a laid-back, jazz-infused finish. Deep, emotive, and subtly psychedelic, this EP proves Dewberry is one to watch.

Review: If there is anyone who knows about chill out music, it's Alex Paterson, who helms Orbscure Records as well as being the man behind The Orb. San Francisco's DF Tram has long been known for his intricate sound collages and deep storytelling and this new album pushes even further into ambient and experimental territory, merging hazy textures with personal reflections and lush production. Its first single, 'The Librarian', is a window into the album's distinct mood, blending folk-tinged guitar with a soft psychedelic haze, conjuring a 70s-style daydream with a mellow groove. 'Separate Ways' introduces chillwave and light pop elements, expanding the sonic palette while maintaining a laid-back atmosphere, while 'Flashbulb Memory' stands out with its delicate guitar strums layered over environmental field recordings and synth washes. The album also sees DF Tram stepping into the foreground with his own vocals and lullaby-like melodies. Written across studios in Zagreb and Vienna during the pandemic, Bittersweet Afternoon is a cinematic journey and a fitting continuation of DF Tram's ever-evolving exploration of sound and memory.

Review: One of the premier downtempo artists, Vienna's DF Tram, returns with a an exciting new album on Orbscure Records, the label run by chill-out pioneer Alex Paterson of The Orb. Known for his unique sound collages and cinematic style, DF Tram expands his sonic boundaries here, pushing further into ambient and experimental realms while maintaining his signature sense of calm introspection. Written during the pandemic across studios in Zagreb and Vienna, the album feels like a personal diary rendered in sound. DF Tram takes a bold step forward by incorporating his own vocals and gentle lullaby-like melodies, adding a new emotional layer to his storytelling. Tracks like 'Flashbulb Memory' give off fleeting moments of beauty, weaving delicate guitar with field recordings and glowing synth textures that blur the lines between natural and urban landscapes. The album's first single, 'The Librarian', is a warm, folk-inflected guitar and soft psychedelic haze, evoking the gentle drift of a sunlit afternoon. 'Separate Ways' brings in elements of chillwave and breezy pop while preserving the meditative spirit at the heart of the record. Bittersweet Afternoon is a dreamlike listening experience that transcends genres.

Review: Back in 2023, Parisian jazz-funk-meets-disco outfit Chatobaron partnered with 21st century disco icon Dimitri From Paris on the superb 'Chez Madame La Baronne'. At the time, the Idjut Boys were called in to remix it, but only one of their suite of takes was released. Hence this killer four-tracker on their own Bite The Day label. It's typical of the long-serving duo's wild, wonderful and frequently deliciously dubbed-out work. While the opening 'Le Fouet version' is a rolling, spacey, sun-splashed and only lightly dubby dancefloor excursion, the mix which follows - the 'Grosse Bite version' - is a wonderfully trippy, percussion-rich drum dub smothered in tape delay and space echo; in other words, a classic Idjuts interpretation. Over on the reverse, the 'Sac Plain' version is a proper Idjuts dub that flits between spacey drop-outs and extended groove sections, while the closing 'Sac Vide version' is a sunrise-ready ambient delight.
