Review: Italian producer Donato Dozy rightly has a cult following as he has a fantastically well sculpted style whether making ambient deep techno or as is the case here, drum & bass. He opens up with the pulsing loops of 'Mai', which always hints as some sort of big rhythmic explosion that never quite comes. 'Dusty Bones' is a flurry of sci-fi sounds, tribal drums and frosted bass that leaves you in a spin. 'Sanza High' is a DJ Python style half stepper with menacing bass and 'Tao' is a more traditional drum & bass beat with trademark silky synths.

Review: Not to be confused with the maverick soul man Delrokski, this DRS stands for Da Real Sound, they operated around the early-to-mid 90s and comprised of Colin TNT Graine and Errol Gordon. And they made badass blueprint jungle records like this Spandangle edition from mid 1993. As the title suggests, this takes a classic vocal sample from Erol Dunkley and each remix does its thing a little way different. The 2 Bad version gives the vocal full space to breathe at a slower 160 tempo while Eternal Bass and Danny Styles lay down two seminal slabs of breakbeat funk that still make perfect sense to this day. Something for everyone.

Their four-tracker on Fabio's Creative Wax label kicks off with 'Don't Go Away', a cacophony of Amen breaks and celestial chords that tugs you in several directions at once. 'Foliage' then rides a deeper vibe with silky drums and cosmic ambient pads bringing a blissed-out feel. 'Groovin' opens up the flipside with more tough, edgy breaks and plunging bass then 'I Can't Understand' closes out with a lovely bit of subtle vocal euphoria, pitched-up vocals and uplifting drums.

Review: The fledgling Detach label continues to show it means business with a new 12" in a lovely screen-printed sleeve. Romanian artist Dyl is the one in charge and has been serving up consistently excellent and innovative sounds now for serval years. All of these cuts mix up great sound design with languid rhythms - the first is eerie, with watery droplets and glassy tinkles hanging in the air, while 'Glasshouse 2' has a percolating rhythm down low. 'Glasshouse 3' gets a little more dynamic with a shimmering low end and freaky abstract life forms and 'Glasshouse 4' layers in more intense and ever-shifting synth lines while the closer sounds like it's roaming through a deserted factory long after it shut down.

Review: After a blistering start to life, One Seventy is back with more unashamedly functional, dance floor-destroying tools here on its second release. This one is a collab between DYL and DB1 and all four are Basement Tracks. The first is predatory and slow, poised and menacing with its heavy drums and scraping synths. The second is the sound of a decaying warehouse, with dropping water pipes, big metal hits and distant crashing machines. The third is more suspensory, with a floating drum break and airy pads that zone you out before the brutal closer is a dystopian techno weapon.

Review: Strap yourselves in for the return of Missile Vintage with a fifth transmission and this one is a track from the boss himself. Missile Records founder Tim Taylor crafted this banger back in 1992 and released it on the legendary FFRR imprint. It soon made its mark on the rave scene of the time and has remained influential to generations of DJs, dancers and producers ever since. Now it comes back to vinyl in original form, as well as next to a huge Foghorn mix from Micky Finn and a more physical and breaks-lead remix from Blade. Now Omni, too with 'Change Your Stars'; a dreamy escapade into the most cosmic corners of the jungle solar system. The title track put lightyears between the breaks and deep celestial voices and pads harmonise with tension in the background while 'Reconciliation' shimmers with an offkey soul that sits somewhere between Peshay and Orbital. Flip for 'Correspondence' where everything orbits around the brutalist breaks and 'Radiance' that lives up to its name with swooping jazzy keys and a strong sense of Detroit. Timeless.

Review: Following Tim Reaper's inaugural MINDGAME release earlier this month, along comes Eusebeia with another three gems to add to this Samurai sub-label collection. Taking off where he left us with his Rupture EP a while back, here the London artist gets even spacier and more cosmic as we hurtle around the jungle nebula. 'Way Back When' boasts some beautiful cascading pads and sudden dramatic switches, 'Days Gone By' gets into more of a microfunk situation with its super tight springy riff while 'Future Times' finishes off with a vibe and tone that's so serene you'd swear you've taken a wrong turn and found yourself in a place of worship. Phenomenal.

Review: Prolific, prodigious jungle explorer Seb Uncles arrives on Rupture LDN in a logical meeting one minds which shows how much there is to be excited about in d&b right now. 'Optimyst' is a sparkling cut which shows off the Eusebeia sound in all its glory. The push and pull between aggression and delicacy is masterfully handled, as Uncles' insanely detailed production hooks you in and feeds body and mind in equal measure. The airy pads behind 'Restoration' set a dreamier tone for the track, but there's plenty of force on display up front. 'Shadow Work' is a nimble affair with pronounced synth hooks, while 'Darkest Before The Dawn' focuses on the cinematic mood which so often creeps into the Eusebeia sound, albeit marked out by yet more staggering displays of jungle science.

Review: Offering another foursome of new tracks for Spatial Recordings comes Eusebeia with 'Age Of Awareness', charting a new topology of human understanding via the archetypal throughline that is drum & bass. Perhaps Eusebeia is aware that Apollo's son was the god of healing and remedies: A-sider 'Healing Properties' shoots for jungle of the least abrasive kind, lowpassing the breaks to allow a thick cloud of pads and synths, which dance about the mix. Review: One of the UK's wonder-children of music production, Eusebeia, returns for a cerebral new drum & bass EP, 'Snakes & Ladders', homing in on vibes of barren atmosses and desert drumfunk. Opener 'Snakes & Ladders' is Sub-Saharan enough, opening with a bullhorned call to arms over a figurative, dust-laden sonic dune, all while a rallying 808 booms underneath like the distant underground squirms of a sandworm. Things then take an unexpected turn, however, as the producer takes brooding refuge in a nighttime cave on 'Morality Lessons', cleverly traversing an odd time signature and a nocturnal texture. 'Ladder To Salvation' embraces the desert dawn, relishing the misty morning, while 'Vice & Virtue' rounds off the B-side with an impeccable ambience and movement through several competing kettle-breaks and versions of the same atmosphere.

Review: The Nullpunkt label is fast approaching its 25th release but first comes this fearsome outing from F&E. The third installment in the Forschung & Entwicklung series comes on grey vinyl and does not mess about with five more cuts all served up as Antal or Rural versions from 2016. The first rides on rusty jungle breaks, the second, 'Conclusion', is an atmospheric piece with a minimal rhythm and warped synth daubs while 'Six Days' is a dark and heavy piece of ambient techno dystopia. 'Outro' is the lightest and brightest piece of synth work on the EP then 'Research' brings back the jungle techno with more serrated synths and loopy, jagged rhythms.
