On the A-side we're treated to some crisp and direct flips of Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe' and TLC's 'No Scrubs', and the original songwriting content of the all-time classics is kept well and truly intact. All you need is a snappy, rolling beat dropped into the blend, and crowd-pleasing dancefloor magic is right there in the palm of your hands. On the flip Mary J Blige and Queen Latifah get the treatment too, giving you lot of bang for your buck on this big bad and bold record.

This release resurrects the original mixes alongside some iconic remixes from the 90s, encapsulating a significant chapter in the jungle movement. A landmark release, not only signifiying a pivotal era in jungle but also marking the inaugural release on Philly Blunt, kicking things off as they were meant to go on. It's a new outlet that will specially tap into the sounds of 90s jungle and serve up new tunes on 10". Tim Reaper has been behind one, and Eusebeia is now on this one on blue-marbled vinyl. A-side cut 'Waveform 05' is a cavernous cut with pulsing bass and spine chillingly ethereal vocals up top while 'Waveform 06' keeps the pressure on with more throwback jungle realness and unrelenting breakbeat pressure.

Review: .Stepping into spring with true style and just the right amount of nostalgic sass, unpredictable Finnish artist Otto Taimela follows a string of techno dispatches with this sublime four track jungle narrative that's perfect the sunnier seasons. With its lively, unkempt edits and jumps, 'Sunflower' has a powerful warmth of a timeless jungle dancefloor tune while carrying a certain amount of nostalgic IDM haze. It's a vibe which is maintained throughout the EP; 'Sunwarmed Window' has a dreamier edge that wouldn't have gone amiss on Warp at any point during the early to mid-90s, 'Sunshine Reloading' rides a much busier drums palette while 'Imagined U' brings us back down to earth with a gentle beatless ambient kiss. Review: Strap yourselves in for the return of Missile Vintage with a fifth transmission and this one is a track from the boss himself. Missile Records founder Tim Taylor crafted this banger back in 1992 and released it on the legendary FFRR imprint. It soon made its mark on the rave scene of the time and has remained influential to generations of DJs, dancers and producers ever since. Now it comes back to vinyl in original form, as well as next to a huge Foghorn mix from Micky Finn and a more physical and breaks-lead remix from Blade. Review: Long time underground UK stalwart Zed Bias dropped this - one of his many seminal cuts - back in 1999. Now, the dark garage classic 'Neighbourhood' gets reissued alongside some remixes. In its original form, it has an alluring vocal charm with unsettling chords over a grinding bassline and sharp percussion. The El B remix brings fleshier low ends and more swagger and shuffle while the vocals remain in place to blow up your spot. To close out the EP, Dawn Raid remixes with a high-energy jungle sound full of old-school signifiers. A proper EP for proper dance floors.

Review: The fledgling Detach label continues to show it means business with a new 12" in a lovely screen-printed sleeve. Romanian artist Dyl is the one in charge and has been serving up consistently excellent and innovative sounds now for serval years. All of these cuts mix up great sound design with languid rhythms - the first is eerie, with watery droplets and glassy tinkles hanging in the air, while 'Glasshouse 2' has a percolating rhythm down low. 'Glasshouse 3' gets a little more dynamic with a shimmering low end and freaky abstract life forms and 'Glasshouse 4' layers in more intense and ever-shifting synth lines while the closer sounds like it's roaming through a deserted factory long after it shut down.

Review: ScruScru is a name you might well recognise but it is fair to say you might not recognise his work on this first release from Talkbox. He shows a very different side off the back of plenty of top edits that bottle up plenty of disco and Bossanova vibes. Here he has teamed up with Russia's dubplate don BR Selecta for an EP full of energy and joy. 'YEAH YEAH' is happy-go-lucky garage with pitched-up vocals and lively drum, 'Get My Gruv' is a kinetic two-stepper and 'Cyberrave' is just that with its all-out synth madness and flurries of breaks, then 'Serious Talking' closes out on a darker jungle tip. A varied and vital 12' for sure.

Review: The latest drop in the Mysticisms Dubplate series welcomes back Persian for another round of reggae-inspired electronics. Once again the artist draws from across a spectrum of bass, digidub and breaks and also throws some jungle into the melting pot. Opener 'Survival Dub' is powered by classic breakbeats and great mic work that is sure to liven up any party. 'Smoke Mari' then slows it down to a fat dub with a vocal sample from a well-known smoker's anthem with plenty of mind-melting effects and stepping rhythms. On the flipside is 'There Is No Love' with a prime junglist drop and last of all comes 'Zatoichi's Troubles' which has devastating bass.

Review: Just as they were likely originally intended, two of Calibre's said-to-be most coveted productions come remastered fresh from the vaults, and reissued on black vinyl via the sonic conservationists over at Signature. First comes the 2001 remix of Badmarsh & Shri's 'Signs', to which Calibre lends an extra rolling signification, its no-nonsense industrial break and tensing, two-note pads doing most of the legwork here. Review: UKJ keeps the flame of old-school breaks and jungle afire with its latest four-track V/A 12", with contributions from label co-boss Junglord, Supa Ape, Sully, OmniRhythm and Simply Dread all in tow for the inflammatory sacrifice. Unlike your usual jungle, these four cuts verge on the insane, thanks to this label's commemorative grounding in the earliest days of jungle in its hardcore breaks and graff-adjacent days. We wager that back then, there was more room for experimentation before the "sound" got standardised and fetishised. Here's a cogent recollection of that time - a time of vocal one-shots, dramatic classical music samples and rave stabs, sure - but above all, just a generally wilder and more rapacious indulging of the promise of what was once called breakscience; Junglord's 'Ready For Retaliation' and Dread's 'Hard To Tell' tend towards UK hardcore on this front, ultrafast breaks-drilling and buzzsawing away, with glee.

Review: Myor Massiv dial up two of the heaviest operators in contemporary jungle for a sure shot split 12" which will charge up the dance whichever side the needle drops on. 'Lucky Go Happy' is a chirpy workout from Reaper, getting lyrical with the snare rushes, pinging some sprightly chords around the mix and juggling some diva vocal licks without losing that sharp edge that always marks out his tunes. Coco Bryce brings a more widescreen, techno-styled palette to 'Down The Way' on the flip, but there's still plenty of space for swerves into giddy old-skool sampling deployed with the flair which has made him one of the brightest talents in the field. Jungle by numbers this ain't.

Review: Bristol producer Arcane makes a monumental debut on Over/Shadow here with four tracks that have Brady caused plenty of carnage on global dancefloors. 'Minotaur' kicks off with a flurry of snares that are so snappy they will break your neck. 'Execute' is another dense packed rhythmic workout with blasts of horn, dark bass and drilling drum work while 'Warriah' then floats above then dancelfoor with its paranoid pads and stepping broken beat rhythms. This most high impact and physical of EPs shuts down with 'Spirit Chaser', a more pad laced cut but one that is no less driving.

Review: Italian producer Donato Dozy rightly has a cult following as he has a fantastically well sculpted style whether making ambient deep techno or as is the case here, drum & bass. He opens up with the pulsing loops of 'Mai', which always hints as some sort of big rhythmic explosion that never quite comes. 'Dusty Bones' is a flurry of sci-fi sounds, tribal drums and frosted bass that leaves you in a spin. 'Sanza High' is a DJ Python style half stepper with menacing bass and 'Tao' is a more traditional drum & bass beat with trademark silky synths.

Review: Oh gosh! Shogun's special Shuriken vinyl series hits its sixth edition with some of the label's biggest remix bombs of yore. Calyx & Teebee's twist on Spor's game-changing 'Aztec' takes the lead and remains one of the best remixes the Ram duo have ever done. Calibre's take on Alix Perez, Spectrasoul and Peven Everett's 'Forsaken' is up there with the original in terms of its beauty and simplicity. Meanwhile on the B, Phace gives Icicle and SP:MC a total neuro shoeing before we end Ivy Lab's evergreen take on Spectrasoul & dBridge's 'Glimpse', arguably one of the finest cuts Shogun has ever released. Review: Buckle up for this one because Aphrodite Recordings serves up four stone-wall jungle classics from the eponymous Aphrodite. First up is 'Style From The Darkside' with its crunchy drums and darkened bass powering onwards. 'Navigator' is then a silky trip with a flurry of snares and some heavenly melodies helloing up top while dirty bass does its thing down low. On the reverse is the face-melting and unrelenting 'Bomber' which will rattle ribs and walls and last of all 'Basslights' comes on strong with stepping rhythms and elastic bass.

Review: SB81 first appeared on Metalheadz back in 2013 with the Dancer In The Dark / Back To 33 12, and since then the Wolverhampton mainstay has kept up cosy relations with Goldie's D&B temple. Picking up where 2018's Future Point EP left off, SB81 goes in on four detailed, cinematic cuts that show how much space for world-building there really is around razor-sharp breakbeats. 'Picture This' is drenched in dramatic poise, while the beats fall more like crunchy electronica than run of the mill D&B. 'Etched Within' has a sweeter demeanour, but it's no less richly rendered. The production and composition are absolutely next level throughout this record, proving SB81 is still in a league of his own, and that Metalheadz still know how to sign a deadly record.

Review: Heads will know Aphrodite is the no-effs-given 90s drum & bass artist of choice, with the producer's music inevitably occupying any curious digger's wantlist. Aphrodite knows you want it, which is why they're on a massive reissue campaign. Cashing in and all that - they can't resist. 'King Of The Beats' throws back to the dawn of amen break-cutting with a sampled reference to Mantronix, while 'Music's Hypnotising' blends an unusual arpeggiation with techstep motifs and a popular stock vocal sample. Review: A welcome and precious addition to the new 'Legends' series by V Recordings, 'Lionheart' is a tune made with friend and equal talent Berty B, that has existed since 1994 and is famous for its opening "ready? get set... music!" sample and vinyl-spinback oneshots. It's a nigh-timeless track that straddles raggatek, jump-up and jungle techno in almost a single breath. Much later came the VIP (variation in production), which added far glossier and more heavenly variations and a harder-edged sheen. Now it gets a reissue. Also here comes the brand new VIP of 'Love 4 You', which is a masterclass in airy, spacious intro-work, which segues into pure drum-driving as per the formula.

Review: J:Kenzo is known more as a dubstep pioneer, but it's always refreshing to hear producers such as him break away from their pre-established style - in this case, the revolutionary sound is drum n' bass. 'Zegafunk' locks in four new heaters for Metalheadz (it's his debut for the legendary drum n' bass label), establishing a no-nonsense throwback to the earliest incarnations of jump-up and techstep, only repackaged for the present day. In the words of Metalheadz, there's a real classic feel to it, with the unendingly dystopian and robotic sound of late 90s drum n' bass shining through; 'Tiger Moth' and 'Kalibrate' are cases in point, with conveying moods of unswung menace and malicious awe.

Review: Space jungle extraordinaire ASC is as prolific as they come, and this week he's back again with 'Sphere Of Influence', a synth-heavy present-day take on the dreamy origins of his chosen sound. Beginning with 'The Arcane', we're most struck with ASC's emphasis on atmospherics and synthwork - they come first compared to his relatively functional breakscience, which are like godlike apparatuses guiding us through heavily nuanced, heavenly vistas. That functionality goes out of the window with 'Threeform', though - an unusually sound-designed number which introduces suddenly-huge variation in the breaks, in what is said to be ¾ time.

Review: Contemporary jungle Renaissance crew Omni Music continue to look back over their vaults for more vinyl reissue gold. This time, two tracks from Pariah's 2017 'Selected Works' series. Two very different approaches to the jungle style; 'Meltdown' is a big dreamer of a track with its lush pads and subtle sense of drive and momentum while 'Metal Hero' is a much more punishing affair with uncompromising breaks and an aggy energy that will cut into any mix creatively. Both absolutely slap.

Review: Vibes 93 is having a whale of time rinsing out all kinds of upfront drum & bass and jungle, but this takes the fun to a whole new level. The Dutch producer isn't making any attempt to mask the source material on his summer-scouting new release, calling on hip-hop and r&b legends for vocal samples in the midst of straight-up, feel good rollers. Eschewing his rowdier, underground material for something more universal, this is the kind of record which will bring a massive swathe of people together for some proper moments, but more to the point it's done with panache.

Review: You'd be hard pushed to keep up with everything ASC puts out on his own Auxiliary and Spatial labels, let alone what crops up elsewhere, but at least you can be sure wherever you check in, the quality will be unerringly high. On this latest 12" for Spatial, we get whisked away on a cloud of atmospheric d&b finery with 'Dreamcatcher' before plummeting to earth with the hard-knocking drum science of 'Tranquility'. 'Drifting Thru' pairs rough amens with epic pads and then 'Floatation' explores more acutely angled breaks and an immersive pool of melodic composition, holding true to the Spatial remit as an outlet for the deeper end of the junglist spectrum.

Review: Men At Work's 80s hit 'Down Under' gets a LUUDE-icrous drum n' bass remix from the Aussie producer here, bringing flighty breaks and air to a timeless, fluting classic. Here, the original song's bassline is swapped out for a slow droning reese, while Colin Hay's acapella retains the rawness of the original recording made in 1980 - despite this actually being a re-record for Luude gifted by Hay himself. Review: Samurai Breaks is the alias of Sam Langley, who's been throwing down some wild style rave gear for the likes of Sheffield's Off Me Nut amongst many others. Having graced Hooversound last year alongside Nova Cheq in 2022, now he's going alone with this six-strong testament to the frenetic new forms rave is being moulded into. The breaks, the hoover stabs, the MC samples - it's all in there, but there's a twitchy modernism to the way Langley juggles his source material which feels incredibly fresh. You can hear the whisper of footwork influence in the needlepoint rhythmic flex of 'Mystery Wobbler (dub)' while jump up casts its influence over gnarly shocker 'Skippy' and of course there's plenty of jungle vibes flying around this madcap EP from a fierce new talent.

Review: Coco Bryce deserves any and all of the plaudits that continually come his way. The Dutchman is a drum & bass mainstay with a distinctive sound that is rooted very much in the future. It's 3am Eternal where he lands to kick off his 20204 and as always he comes through with plenty of irresistible goods. 'One Hundred' nods to the old school with its nimble piano vamps darting about the mix over captivating amen breaks. 'Saliva' is a more deep, zoned-out sound that gets your mind lost amongst the stars thanks to its interplanetary synth work.

Review: Jazzy foundation styles from Chris Read and James Curry's Suburban Architecture alias. As with previous outings such as Turning Point, Solar Winds and Alternative Futures, the vibe is deep, dreamy and timeless. And in this case, it comes with two very clear stories. The two versions of 'Inside' hit with an introspective headbutt, wrapped up in a Good Looking flavoured coating of cosmic funk, while 'Outside' dig deeper into the jazz and house music influences on jungle. Both absolutely kill it, whether you play them in or outdoors.
