Enlightenment Is Now (6:02)
Enlightenment Is Now (12Tree remix) (6:49)
Review: Hot Piroski Records have been on something of a hiatus for the last year or so but now make a welcome return with a new EP series. This collaborative affair is the result of an epic journey in an old Mercedes from London to Gunjur and finds label head Robin 12Tree working with The Gambia and Bongo Koi as Gambian Disco Express. 'Enlightenment is Now' marks their first release on Hot Piroski Records and it comes with vocals from Gambian mystic Rev. Joseph N'Gole, recorded on the banks of the River Gambia. This one has already been hammered by Psychemagik, Pete Herbert, and Severino from Horse Meat Disco so it comes quality assured.

Lick My Chain (PSL remix) (5:56)
Review: A solid four track EP on Step Ball Chain records blending minimal and tech house with a splash of techno. offering a diverse range of sounds for late-night dancefloors. Side-1 starts with 'Do U Want Me', a playful peak-time house track filled with nostalgic old-school samples and a serious grooveiperfect for keeping the energy up during those late-night sets. It's followed by 'Make Me', which shifts gears into a dubby mix of dubstep and liquid drum 'n' bass, offering a bass-heavy, laid-back vibe. On Side-2, 'Bassy Bits' drives things forward with its fast-paced tech house beats and dirty bassline, making it a DJ-friendly gem designed to shake the dancefloor. Then there's 'Lick My Chain', a deeper, moodier track with a wall-shaking bassline and a futuristic, sensual atmosphereia slick, immersive cut for those looking to bring the energy down but keep the intensity up. Rounding off the EP is the 'Lick My Chain' (PSL remix), which adds a techy edge and a sexy vocal, transforming the track into a late-night anthem. Overall, Step Ball Chain Holland is a versatile release for tech house and electro fans alike.

Dreams (Will Come Alive) (Twenty 4 Seven Trance dub) (4:14)
Review: Rarely are we ever lucky enough to welcome much Eurodance back to the sale stock, but 'Dreams (Will Come Alive)' is indeed an unsurprising exception to this apparent rule, one that governs what we may expect. Made in early 1994 by the Dutch duo 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor - initially made up of Martin and Bobby Boer, but later enlisting the "brand booster" lineup additions of Dutch singer Desray and rapper D-Rock - 'Dreams' was understandably a major hit in Europe at the moment of its release. The track was hilariously described as "old fashioned rave style squawking shrill girl wailed and at times inevitable gruff gruff rapped Euro hit" by Music Week, but this mentions nothing of its finger-clicking snares and tweezing square saw lead, the latter of which commands a melody that sounds suspiciously similar to Haddaway's 'What Is Love,' released around the same time. Rave communism, anyone? Hardly, probably, but there is a kind of mimesis to these things. Anyway, it's the contemporary remixes on this reissue that really take the cake, with the Lick mix standing out as the relatively torrential emo-downpour, and that's saying nothing of the aromatic, nigh nightmarish cheese that ensues on Twenty 4 Seven Trance mix: D-Rock raps away with dogged insistence to "keep going on", shining brightly on what can only be described as a rare, authentic hip-hop / Eurotrance combo moment.

Streetpoet (extended mix) (6:40)
New Ballad (extended mix) (4:09)
Streetpoet (Axel Boman Trancehall mix) (8:56)
Review: If you were a young production twosome growing up in Cologne, you'd aim high and send your demo recordings to the city's most storied techno label, Kompakt. That's exactly what Mourad Kehalia and Sebastian Fischer AKA 90ASE did, and it led directly to this quietly impressive debut EP. The headline attraction is 'Streetpoet', a dreamy and colourful slab of breakbeat-house gorgeousness smothered in elongated church organ chords, tactile pads and auto-tune enabled Arabic vocals. The mighty Axel Boman remixes, delivering a 'Trancehall' mix that ups the dreaminess levels further while employing squelchy synth bass and pumping, tribal house style beats. To complete a rock-solid package, Kehalia and Fischer offer-up the maximal deep house headiness of 'New Ballad', which is as gorgeous as it is dancefloor-ready.

Nuevo Mondo (Anatolian Weapons remix) (7:15)
Review: This release marks the return of a 1989 classic and it has been remastered for the occasion. Ace Buzz is a project by Tony Baron and Gery Francois, who are known for acts like Teknokrat's. Their track 'Moskitos' is a playful, raw example of Belgian New Beat with a slightly lighter touch than the genre's typical aggression. It features simple Balearic piano chords and samples that evoke a surreal scene of someone in a cheap, hot Ibiza hotel battling mosquitos. The B-side, 'Nuevo Mondo,' shifts to a deeper, more mellow vibe, and is followed by a remix from Anatolian Weapons that transforms the original into something entirely fresh and unique.

Review: This limited edition 12" on translucent red vinyl is ideal for fans of Latin-infused house. Featuring the original version of Afro Medusa's 'Pasilda' along with seven stellar remixes, it's a celebration of a track that defined a genre. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano deliver a vibrant rework, full of electrifying beats and summery vibes that transport you back to sunset parties and late-night clubs. The Knee Deep mixes, which propelled the track to worldwide fame, are here in all their glory, alongside unique reinterpretations by Afterlife, Blank & Jones, and others. While the original mix is absent, each remixer brings something fresh to the table, making this package a must-have for house music enthusiasts. Mr Hubris (2:16)
Ms Ludus (2:24)
Review: Religion, and specifically gospel music, always played a key part in shaping the sounds and emotions of easy house music. It is clearly going to have just as much impact on this new label God Iz Enough which debuts with an EP of the same name from Tomi Ahmedeus. His style on the opener is to lay down raw and dusty beats with an early Windy City feel and infuse them with evocative, guttural gospel vocals that really bring them to life and make them inescapably emotive. 'The Rise Of The Guttersnipe' strips things back a little and brings a shuffling tech vibe with some glistening melodies while 'Ms Ludus' is a gorgeous ambient closer.

Break Love (feat Yaiflai) (6:26)
Review: Australia has been one of the hottest places for interesting new club sounds for a while now. Re-Leaf is another new label from down under that backs that up and it launches with a mighty fine new EP from label head Aldonna. It loosely offers up deep house sounds but with a range of different slants - there's the progressive chord lushness of 'Rush,' and the more prickly percussive tension of 'Venus'. 'March, Together' is doused in post-rave 90s trance-techno vibes and 'Break Love' (feat Yaiflai) shuts down with some deft and dubbed-out rhythm work that gets ever more intergalactic as it unfolds.

Review: Coqueto is back with a four new EP to continue the good work of the first three. This one is a split which sees two artists take care of one side each. Alejo goes first with 'Base One', a dirty and menacing chugger with warped synth lines and future tech feel - a great one to get the crowd marching. Then 'Crazy Stranger' brings some swirling and balmy synth work to more tough tech beats. On the flip, Rupert Marnie kick off with 'Resurrection' which pairs electro energy with prying basslines and then last of all is a nice taught, tight, bouncy dub 'Freezer' for some stripped back goodness.

Review: Naarm-based producer Sam Alfred shows no signs of slowing down as we continue to be impressed by the material coming out of Australia right now. After releasing the energetic 'Suzuka' EP, completing a sold-out headline tour and playing a packed set at MODE Festival, he's now back with more full flavour beats. This one disk off with a real house anthem inspired by 90s club music with punchy piano, airy synths, and a driving cowbell rhythm. 'Care 4 U' has carefree garage house vibes a la salute, 'Keep It' brings some euro dance and trance energy and 'Distance' is a peak-time acid-laced pumper. Brilliant stuff.

The first comes as the thumping tribal vibe sounds of "get ready' with the second on the A-side is a banger with 'Heavy as stone' with it's lush vocals that would work in any set. Review: 'Follow Me' is the name of a stone cold house classic from Aly-us that you will likely know, but it is also the title of this superb cut from Alchemy. A sure 90s gem that has been wrongly slept on, it now gets a reissue from the MBG International Records archives and sounds superb. The drums are smooth and soft around the edges, the pads ripple through the mix to soulful effect and some subtle vocals coos provide the perfect finish. Asa (7:37)
Review: Berlin duo Ame share the delicious progressive future house polyp bloomer 'Asa' through their home imprint Innvervisions. In the label's own introspective words, the duo of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann are a regular fixture of the international festival DJ circuit, and have managed to retain the freshness of their image despite technically not having released any new music in just over three years - until now. Released with little accompanying context besides the dripping-wet, papillary form depicted on the front cover, 'Asa' is an arylide sonic yellow, made up of variably filtered stabs and rattling, naturalistic percussions; the track conjures the image of a lively marine gala, and recalls the extenuated disco-house blooms of Maurice Fulton especially, its buzzsaw leads helping the track along to a dazzling pre-climax at around the five minute mark.

Review: After a brief hiatus, Synapsis Records makes a triumphant return with a standout 12" release from Iranian artist Siamak Amidi, complemented by reinterpretations from hm505. Synapsis-019, Crack A Love Ball, offers a sublime mix of minimalism and complexity, showcasing Amidi's deft touch for immersive sound design on the A-side. His original tracks, 'Crack A Love Ball' and 'Mess with You', are masterclasses in subtle intricacy, blending rich percussion with understated grooves. Review: Anatolian Weapons' 'Beyond' EP delivers six tracks that expertly blend vintage techno with a futuristic edge, reminiscent of a sci-fi film soundtrack. Opening with 'Just Dance,' the EP hooks listeners with an addictive groove and a techy, 90s vibe that sets the tone. 'All The Bones' dives into progressive house territory, offering lush, evolving soundscapes. 'Ego Naked' stands out as a fusion of EBM and darker techno, injecting an intense, moody atmosphere. 'Reality Check' plays with an 80s aesthetic, striking a balance between nostalgia and forward-thinking production. 'Acid Grind' slows the pace with a deliberate acid chugger, featuring a liquid acid line that oozes depth and intention. Closing out with 'STR,' the EP peaks with a powerful, sci-fi-influenced track that feels otherworldly, pushing the boundaries of techno. Throughout Beyond EP, Anatolian Weapons navigates through various electronic styles while maintaining a cohesive, futuristic vision, making it a compelling addition to any techno enthusiast's collection.

Review: GT Flips is proving to be a superb home for the music of Detroit mainstay and former Slum Village man DJ Dez aka Andres. He is turning out plenty of it, all of it quality, and all of it steeped in his signature blend of deep house, hip hop and the Cuban rhythms of his personal family heritage. Opener 'Take Your Time' is blissed out beat perfection with mid-tempo drums and heady pads next to gorgeous vocal hooks. The latest edition is another smoking hot three-tracker that opens up with 'She Spoke To Me', a laid-back blend of live drums and dusty snares with neat little sax motifs and a soothing vocal coo. Polybius (4:42)
New Style Of Life (5:33)
Voxelle (6:32)
Review: With his nom de plume, producer Anoesis - returning to Cyphon Records - posits an age-old philosophical question. Are there forms of knowledge that we can access independently of consciousness? Besides perception of phenomena, and by the use of reason, how else can we know things? One answer is "anoesis", which is the reception of impressions or sensations - sensory input, pure qualia - by the brain, prior to any intellectual (aka. noetic) work being done. As a form of 'Metacognition', anoesis is innate, paralogical, and before reason; such motor inputs are exactly the kind that electro and its adjacent styles hope to simulate and stimulate. 'Vision Off' and 'Do Don't Don't Do' seem to reflect something of this latent potentiation of thought, with patterned, helical beats, and bouncy neuronal noises, seeming to represent the ludicrousness of the unconscious and somatic mind. 'New Style Of Life' just as oxymoronic - irrationally rational - proving that the dancing body also follows its own, paralinguistic form of reason; sci-fi, Forbidden Planet-style, billowing synth note ascensions blend with clacky hats and snares, representing the forward-facing yet untempered drives of such a precognitive, subjective mental state.

Through chirpy voxxes, street-slicking beats and furtive steps-down-into-the-exclusive-club, we'd've half expected this EP to have wafted up from a manhole cover in the dead of New York. Yes, this one seems to portray a world in which tech house, not modal jazz, is the sound and site of rule-flouting lasciviousness. 'Mata' fidgets away into an intuitive kind sophisti-trance, calling elegant trinkets and bespoke retro internal designs to mind. 'Dojo', meanwhile, moves ever so slightly martial-artistic, its various vocal chops and beeps resembling the various instructions and entreatments uttered by the tech house sensei.

This new EP, Be Honest, is just that from long-time friends Lipelis and Arsenii, who are based in Belgrade and New York but seek inspiration in the New York sounds of the 80s and hook up with Gayana for some woozy and lovelorn vocal additions. Here the personae grata in question are a crack team of trusted delegates, known by the respective codenames AS Groove, Driahn, Monile and Nikon; each artist-negotiator delivers their own firebrand sonic missive in quick, electrific unison, appeasing the collective ear through a four-point transmissive treaty. The Beat (5:12)
The Return (5:38)
Review: Dungeon Meat's tasty new sub-label SLABS thrilled with its first outing from Dutchman Borren not long ago and is now back with a second slab of goodness. This one is from London's rising star Azaad and it comes on nice weighty 140g wax. Label heads Brawther and Tristan have already been slamming these joints at clubs and festivals around the world for the last 18 months so they come with a real stamp of approval. 'The Beat' bumps along with nice swinging kicks and steamy vocal inflections and 'The Return' is a gorge-tinged and hardcore house cut with depth and drive in equal measure.

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: Baby Ford is back being reissued again and we couldn't be happier about it. Few have ever matched the matter levels he achieved when it comes to deep minimal and tech house fusions. This latest on his own Trelik takes the form of three classic cuts from two much sought-after EPs - Built In and All That Nothing. The title cut is a shimmering and sublime fusion of rubbing low ends and icy hi-hats. 'All That Nothing' then picks up the pace with more dub influences and swaying drums and 'Plaza' has a tech house edge that makes for more driving grooves.

Millennium Melopella (1:40)
Review: The icy techno sounds of Cologne's Barnt make their way across Europe here to Studio Barnhus's Swedish bunker. Across five fresh cuts, he brings plenty of experimental flair but also some playful rhythms to a forward-thinking EP that sounds like little else. 'Aqua Melopella' is an unsettling opener with glistening synths scurrying like ants over a sparse rhythm, 'Aqua Breeze' establishes a marching beat and 'Aqua Bass' brings twanging synths and frosted loops that keep you on your toes. 'Millennium Silver' is another tune blend of dystopian synth sounds and distorted lines that speak of human destruction and last of all 'Millennium Melopella' offers moments of ambient reflection.

Bounce (6:00)
Deep City (6:53)
Signals (7:55)
Review: Strap yourself in here for a third volume of Basic Bastard beats on the DBH label out of Germany. 'Bounce' kicks off and is brilliantly warm, tight and funky. It's made from minimal elements but has a maximal impact. 'Deep City' is more house-leaning but is fast and urgent with sleek pads and gurgling acidic basslines all adding to the richness of the sounds. Last but not least is 'Signals' which closes down with more speedy drum funk, this time laced up with molten acid lines and snappy drum hits. Three timeless cuts for sure.

Review: It has been a hot minute but after five years away, Basic7 is back on Tripmastaz's Respect The Craft Enterprises sub-label. He is someone celebrated for his edgy live sets and taps into some of that sonic invention here with four thumping minimal cuts. 'Time' is our favourite with its bleeping melodies ranging down the face of the track as a stiff bassline grinds away beneath crisp kicks and raw hats. 'Last From Live' is another gem that pairs rhythmic invention with great sound design and 'Future' and 'Fogtrak' also offer expressive minimal sounds and late-night freak-outs.

Ricochet (Dr Packer & Michael Gray remix) (6:05)
Ricochet (Dr Packer & Michael Gray dubstrumental) (5:00)
Review: During the early-to-mid 1980s, the BB&Q band dropped a slew of killer electrofunk jams, most of which combined infectious synth basslines, group vocals and colourful lead lines with beats variously inspired by boogie, 80s soul and freestyle. Alongside 'Dreamer', which was mixed by the legendary Shep Pettibone, 'Ricochet' was one of their biggest dancefloor hits. High Fashion has decided to give it a 21st century disco makeover, pairing one of their in-house remixers, Michael Gray, with Glitterbox favourite Dr Packer. Their 12"-leading full vocal naturally bumps up the beats to suit house dancefloors and adds a few authentic-sounding synth lines, but otherwise makes the most of the BB&Q band's original music and vocals. The flip-side 'Dubstramental' is very good, too, paying tribute to the various effects and production tricks used in 1980s dancefloor dubs while also utilising 21st century beats.

Hypnose (15:11)
Review: As you will very well know for yourself if you are interested enough in dance music to be reading this: trance is back, and it has been for a while. Pure trance, techno-trance, acid-trance, it's all to be heard everywhere you listen. But excuse us for showing our age and getting all boomer on you because none of it can hold a lighter to the original classics such as this one from BBE. 'Seven Days And One Week' is pure Ibiza, pure trance, pure melodic euphoria with sensuous vocals that make it all the more effective. On the flip is the darker 'Hypnose' to offer a nice yin to the a-side's yang. Reach for the lasers, safe as you know what.

Review: Bell Towers is ready to party and you will be too once you've be chaired by this new EP on Public Possession. The titular cut 'Party Boy' opens up with some colourful disco energy and a vocoder vocal that has a charming retro-future fee. After the instrumental comes the thrilling and high-speed loops of 'DJ, Music, Money' which are pure carnage and then things take a more downtempo direction with the deep, spaced-out sounds and lush twinkling synth patterns of closer 'Party Void'. Lots of ground is covered in this EP, all of it superb.

Guardian Angel (7:06)
Guardian Angel (Stimming remix) (7:13)
Guardian Angel (Hardt Antoine remix) (6:19)
Review: Henri Bergmann and Wennink's Guardian Angel marks an impressive debut on Crosstown Rebels, delivering a track that expertly fuses melody with depth. Bergmann's knack for sculpting rich, atmospheric landscapes is matched by Wennink's haunting vocals, creating a piece that feels both expansive and intimate. It's the kind of collaboration that hints at a shared vision without ever losing individual identity. The original track opens with textured percussion, slowly unfurling into an emotive soundscape as Wennink's vocals hover above like an ethereal guide. There's a melancholic undertone, but it's balanced by an uplifting drive, showcasing their ability to blend light and dark seamlessly. The remixes take Guardian Angel into uncharted territories. Stimming strips things back, opting for a more minimalist approach that sharpens the focus on rhythmic intensity, while his subtle use of effects amplifies the track's ethereal quality. It's a remix that feels lean but still full of intent. Hardt Antoine, on the other hand, plunges deeper into the shadows, pushing the bassline forward and letting synths stretch into eerie, sci-fi realms. His reworking is darker, stranger, and ultimately a satisfying close to the EP. With this release, Bergmann and Wennink add another strong entry to the Crosstown Rebels roster, proving that their partnership is one to keep watching.

Review: Nick Beringer has always had a slick and stylish sound no matter what niche he is working in. This new outing on Daydream is a four-track exploration of deep and dubby house and tech. Opener 'Hang Time' is fresh tech with painterly synth work. 'Auto Answer' is then loopy and silky with infectious drums and balmy pads, 'Nine To Five' then layers up deft pad work and wispy sic-fi motifs with lush neon colours and 'Intercom' kicks on with groves that exude cool as they journey late into the night.

Review: Sundries' Disco Goodies series, which rounds up the best of the label's digital releases and presents them on multi-artist EPs, reaches its fourth instalment. It hits home hard from the start, where Berobreo's 'Soul Driven Dynamics' provides an attractive mix of 1970s orchestral soul samples and rubbery deep house beats. Experienced re-editor Oldchap brings the goods with a lightly tooled-up and beefed-up rework of an orchestra-sporting disco gem ('Coloridos'), before X Gets The Crest delivers a percussive, hot-stepping and filter-smothered re-wire of a much-loved Cymande classic ('Still Come Home'). Over on side B, Alexny's heavy disco-funk re-edit ('People Says') is joined by a hazy and horn-heavy revision courtesy of Sould Out ('City Gal') and the pitched-up disco loop-funk of 'Since You Came' by Workerz.

Coolin (OCB X-Press mix) (3:44)
Review: Big Miz and Bessa join forces on Coolin, a stellar 12" release from Happiness Therapy Records, featuring five potent house cuts that blend deep and tech house influences. Side-1 opens with the title track 'Coolin,' an upbeat and lively house number that channels the vibe of 90s New York house with its infectious rhythm and vibrant energy. 'Fondue' follows, delivering more of that great house vibe, maintaining a groove that's perfect for the dancefloor. 'Movement' rounds out the side, bringing peak-time energy with its driving beats and irresistible hooks. On Side-2, Demi Riquisimo's remix of 'Coolin' cranks up the BPM, transforming it into a techy, faster dub version that emphasises the rhythm and gives it a fresh edge. The OCB X-Press mix takes a different approach, focusing more on the piano and offering a broken house beat stepper that's both dynamic and engaging.
