Helix
Helix (12" + MP3 download code)
Cat: BEC 5161320. Rel: 17 Jan 13

Electro House
Helix (extended)
Presence
Ohio
Helix (Gesaffelstein Vision remix)
Helix (Domenico Torti Headspin remix)
Review:  More than 18 months after their Audio, Video, Disco LP dropped, Justice's "Helix" finally gets a single release. It's a typical chunk of goodtime disco-stomp, like Daft Punk without the filter-heavy swing, or Cassius trying to rave in ill-fitting straightjackets. Remix-wise, Gesafellstein turns it into a crunchy electro banger - all heavy drum programming, cut-up yelps and murky riffs - while Parisian veteran Domenico Torti (once Dimitri From Paris's go-to "edit guy") cuts it up impressively, adding a dose of fuzzy funk to proceedings. For the heads, there are also two more downtempo bonus cuts, of which the effortlessly sweet "Ohio" is the pick.

Pop
Water Flow (3:30)
Wit U (2:51)
Don't Stop (3:50)
Lend Me Another Name (2:59)
Review: Because Music is an independent record label based in Paris and London with a roll call that includes Metronomy, Manu Chao, Ed Banger Records, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Major Lazer and more. Next up for the label is Electronic pop duo from the Netherlands Klyne, who deliver the explosive bass driven R&B jam "Don't Stop" featuring super cool vocals reminiscent of Prince. The soulful electronic pop continues on the smooth and sexy deep house of "Water Flow" calling to mind the aesthetic of Crosstown Rebels or the HFN Music sound. The chilling and bittersweet closer "Lend Me Another Name" ends the EP in style with its neon lit synths, sultry guitar licks and precision beats.

Are Mums Mates
Hear To Wear
Review: Whilst currently working on their new album, Metronomy get set to re-release a 7", "Radio Ladio", through label of the moment, Because Music. Metronomy (Joseph Mount) is an electronic artist, originally from Devon. Live, Joseph is joined by Gabriel Stebbing (bass guitar/keys/hand claps/funny dances) and Oscar Cash (melodica/lead keys/saxophone/hand claps/funny dances). Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album "Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)", the London based three piece have been busy garnering a word of mouth/in-the know fanbase, fast becoming a favourite with the likes of The Klaxons, CSS, Justice, Bloc Party and Kate Nash.

Hashis Version
Review: This is a limited edition teaser sampler from the ''Steak'' OST, the first feature film by Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr Oizo). This original project is the result of the collaboration between Mr Oizo, Sebastian and Sebastien Tellier. Mr Oizo is famous for his electronic-saturated, deranged nursery rhymes, whose planetary hit single "Flat Beat" illustrated the Levi’s ad campaign of 1999. Sebastian, considered for the past three years as the most talented producers of his generation, has done remixes for Kelis, Daft Punk, Mylo, the Rakes and the Klaxons. Sebastien Tellier is a troubadour that has contributed to the re-birth of French pop, creating a very personal universe influenced equally by traditional "Chanson Française" and by film scores from the sixties and seventies. This is a top notch Because Music release.

Whore
Review: Twisted Charm are one of the UK indie scene's most treasured groups, having been influential in many of their original fans starting hugely successful bands of their own (Bloc Party, Klaxons, Bono Must Die). Their brand new single, "Cinema", is an off-kilter Brit-pop classic, their paean to inner-city escapism. What does this latest offering sound like? Imagine Gang Of Four's post-punk nihilism, Devo's off-the-wall ingenuity, Clor's agit-funk danceability permeated with a distinctly London sound and you're somewhere close. "Take me to the cinema so I can see again" frontman Nathan Doom entreats over jerky guitars and spasmodic saxophone, knitted together with a titanic rhythm section. Like last year's single "Boring Lifestyles", it's a ruthless dissection of the modern condition, which, in their uniquely eccentric and concise manner, is set to cement their reputation as London's foremost art-pop biographers. With the ambiguous live favourite "Whore" as a flipside as well as a remix of "Boring Lifestyles" from Brighton dance terrorists South Central, "Cinema" is the shot in the arm we've all been waiting for. Recently signed to eclectic independent label Because Music, home to Klaxons, Justice, Jarvis, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Metronomy, and with an album close on the heels of "Cinema", there's no doubt that Twisted Charm are set to be the music-lovers pop heroes of 2007.
