Review: On his sixth album, Pete Molinari continues to evolve as a singer and songwriter from his country blues roots when he was a whippersnapper in the Medway Delta into the international sophisticat he is now. There's a swooning romanticism to Wondrous Afternoon which feels in thrall to 60s lounge pop and Italian big band swing, and he namechecks Rome as an influence on this most feel-good of records. It's got all the depth and charm you expect from one of his albums, but balanced out with a toe-tapping sensibility which should catch on like wildfire as the wax does the rounds.
