Review: Swiss breaks, hop-hop and house DJ Tron (Mike Mory) is best recognized as a certified b-boy, embarking on his musical career at the age of 14 by mixing Italo disco and acid house records together. Coming up as the likes of Beastie Boys and Public Enemy made waves, he later switched to breaks editry, graff, emceeing, and scratching. Now channelling his teenaged spirit, Mory returns for Play It Loud!, a full-length LP full of the noxiously addictive breaks-funk stuff, and featuring a series of bespoke novelty figurines to accompany it, handmade by Tron himself. In his own words - there are no duplicates of these, so be quick off the mark!

Review: We could all do with a little more love, peace and unity in our life and DJ Tron is happy to oblige on his new one with Luana. The title track is an old school bit of hip hop with huge drum breaks, fills and a sing-along-chorus that's all about the good times. "Soul In Ya Mind" is a deeper and more considered jam with golden era flow and warmer chords, put still plenty of playful stabs and breaks to get you moving. Limited to just 100 copies but in three different colours, this one is sure to shift fast.

Review: Modern hip-hop production titan Djar One returns with a fresh 7", 'It's The Funk', with fellow stalwarts Venomous2000 and DJ Tron both coming through for neat verses and flippages respectively. While Djar's A-side is nicely gritty, getting at that West Coast, gangster-funk-whistly, top-dropped steeze with ease, DJ Tron's version provides a completely alternate jazzhop take, stripping back the track to its bare bones and preferring to let the mood flow rather than stomp.

Review: As they often like to do, Swiss label Burning Soul are dropping this one as this standard black 7" but also on these pages you will find a limited edition cream version. Either way the tunes are worthy of your attention from Luana. A-side jam 'Buckle Up' rides a judders mid tempo broken beat with funky bass and stepping synth sequences next to more pixelated cosmic keys. The r&b vocal is sleazy and seductive. On the flip is a trick with plenty of attitude from the vocal which is delivered with seance, control and determination. These are two standout cuts that blur the lines between genres to come up with something entirely new.
