Review: Jungle revivalists Coco Bryce and Tommy The Cat are old pals who've released numerous joint EPs over the years. Here they inaugurate a new series of split twelves - snappily titled 'CocoCat' - on Tommy The Cat's own Cat in the Bag label. Bryce handles side A, delivering the nostalgic jungle-techno thrills of 'You Care Before They Do'. It's a pleasingly energetic affair in which bleep techno style melodic motifs - think LFO, Sweet Exorcist etc - and shimmering futurist chords rise above a sweat-soaked jungle break and weighty bass. Over on the flip, Tommy The Cat doffs a cap to the early days of deep, jazzy d&b, successfully cloaking a punchy, Amen-driven beat and heady bassline in the dreamiest of chords.

Review: It's raining breaks! A hailstorm of jungle and drum n' bass has hit our shelves, and Junglefever & Dart's 'Cat In The Bag' is one of many of its new wax droplets to settle onto our turntables. This new release morphs out from jungle into techstep, set to a limited yellow marbled vinyl. Junglefever occupies the A with two psychotic forays through ragga jungle; bouncy bass riffs drive hoovers forward on 'Rocksteady', while drums seem to whip our minds into submission through the twin modes distortion and overdrive on 'Murderous Style'. Dart's 'Bling' and 'Raggamuffin Core' are naturally more iced out by reeses and crunch, sounding like the moving detritus of a raggamuffin-manned factory.

Review: After six releases from the Dutch label Cat In The Bag, the cat is very much out of the bag for drum & bass fans. This latest transmission - another one in the Park Sessions series is pure cat nip right from the off. MsDos takes care of the a-side with 'Belfry', a lively but silky rhythm with bleeping cosmic synths and smeared solar winds while 'Visions' is both deeper and more physical with its melancholic chords. Tommy The Cat then steps up on the flip with 'Late Night Cats' with its edgy and endless amen breaks and 'A Shoulder To Lean On' going for a slow motion beatdown for the late night hours.

Review: It's Norway meets Holland on the latest instalment of Tommy The Cat's all-out full strength junglistic series Cat In The Bag as Msymiakos joins the fray with a few pals in the mix. 'Survival' (with Algorithmic) kicks the EP off with widescreen breaks and raw energy while 'Dangerous' (with Dial M) eases us in a lot more gently before the swashbuckling breakbeats whip up a frenzy. Flip for two bash-abouts from Tommy himself; 'Reflection Of Sound' is a shimmering, dubby affair while 'Split Second' cranks the reverb up to the maximum and sends us down a long dark tunnel. The main cat himself is in a very stern and tightly coiled mood as 'Frictional' has a taut, stalking nature. Elsewhere Acid Lab trims our whiskers with the razor sharp breaks of 'You Know Something', Qant purrs Goodlooking nothings in our ears on 'Aero' and Nour Fawzi springs around with jazzy claws. We've got a good feline about this one.

Review: The Dutch feline is back and he's let himself out of the bag with so much amen and reese energy, you'll find it hard to find time to swing him. 'Ganja Warriors' has a Remarc twang to its cuts and twists, 'Smoking Bass' takes us deeper into No U-Turn territory with its intense, high pressure textures while 'Dub In Twilight' is straight out of the 94 Metalheadz handbook, and 'Night In Silence' brings us back down to earth with a cosmic Good Looking bump. As with the previous editions of this vinyl-only series, the energy is high, the format is free and the copies are limited. Meow.

The main man Tommy The Cat takes care of the a-side with a brace of brilliant throwback jungle cuts. 'Purple Sky' pairs deep basslines and kinetic breakbeats with thoughtful pads and smeared cosmic ambiance that makes for something perfectly heady yet hard-hitting. 'Way Back When' is a brief but brilliant hip hop joint that you will want to last way longer than it does. Duburban & Jahganaut then bring the menace with a darting, ducking and diving d&b bomb steeped in classicism and newcomer Zoomie takes you into a world of deep hip hop beats with 'Time Travelling At The Speed Of Life.'
