Review: We welcome back extreme noise terror Cosmo Rhythmatic, the experimental offshoot from the Berlin-based Italians at Repitch. British luminary Shackleton is no stranger to the imprint, having appeared previously as as part of the trio Tunes Of Negation, but his latest offering entitled 'Primal Forms' sees him team up with Polish jazz clarinetist and co-curator of Tak Picture - Waclaw Zimpel. From droney exoticism morphing into hypnotic chiptune music on the 17 minute long title track, or the experimental folk of "Primal Drones" to the unholy, yet, not altogether unpleasant hybrid of bass, free jazz and classical minimalism on the final cut "Ruined Future".

Review: Oh this is a big one! Nino 'Shapednoise' Pedone has already served up an enticing collaborative project on his Cosmo Rhythmatic label this year in the shape of his 12" alongside Black Rain, but the mere idea of pairing up Mika Vainio and Franck Vigroux should stop fans of the electronic avant garde in their steps. Purportedly brought together after a show in Paris in 2012, Peau Froide, Leger Soleil is comprised of nine tracks that sit neatly at the juncture between rhythmic techno and abstract noise. Sporting some fine artwork, the album will sate the appetites of anyone craving some new ear dynamite from the iconic Finn, with opening track "Deux" setting the tone perfectly for what unfolds. An epic listen that demands and commands your full attention.

Review: Vladislav Delay's first album in half a decade is certainly not for the uninitiated. According to sleeve notes, it was born out of time spent above the Arctic Circle, in the midst of an environment that's harsh, unforgiving and brutally cold, but also spectacular and beautiful. Logically, then, we're offered a collection of music that's icy and stark, yet buried beneath sounds that can sometimes feel punishing are hidden harmonies and moments of serenity. Opening on the title track, which at times itself feels like a fight for survival, we're hit with walls of noise that invoke unrelenting winds, sparse desolation and endless wildernesses. Things can be truly challenging, in other moments strangely inviting. The record as a whole, therefore, is like an epic journey through terrain unchartered, and it's difficult not to acknowledge how effective it is at creating that mood.
