Review: With emotive tones and catchy hooks in abundance, Chasing Kurt make for a logical addition to Defected's repertoire, having previously appeared on Suol. However it's Henrik Schwarz that takes the limelight with a typically lavish approach on his remix, loaded with wistful strings and warm electro basslines that marry neatly with the heartfelt vocal turn. Konstantin Sibold turns out moodier electronic version with pacing bass and dubby effects that give a big room feel to the track. The original is saved for last here, revealing a much more laid back affair much more suited to kicking back than rocking out.

Review: Now 13 years old, "He Not In" has become one of the most enduring classics this century. Deep, dubby and distinctive, there's a reason people keep returning to it. Few labels, however, have returned to it so well as Defected. A highlight of their DJ sets for many years, Groove Armada's textured interpretation is both faithful and progressive with all manner of percussive elements and disco noises added. Eats Everything's rub is predictably tripped out and bass-fuelled while Noir adds the most subtle touches. Three killer renditions of a classic that won't quit... Do not sleep on this one.

Review: Following their summer hit "Need In Me", Defected duo Flashmob return with something completely different in the form of two contrasting versions of "Pieces". While its predecessor was a slick piece of big room house with diva vocal qualities, "Pieces (Garage mix)" provides a 303 infused acid tech-house stomper combined with Kerri Chandler with a sultry spoken word vocal from Laila Walker. The "Panorama mix" meanwhile goes all out with the acid and brings back the spirit of '88 in its dark, club ready mood and twisting bassline crescendo.

Review: Those busy guys over at Defected are always quick to spot a valuable reissue or in this case, a stunning remix opportunity of an absolute classic! Lars takes care of giving Staton's "Hallelujah Away" a good tweaking, making it into a late-night house jam, keeping those beautiful lyrics in place but adding a hefty amount of shuffling kicks and snares to the pot. The dub is obviously deeper and more percussion-focussed but it nevertheless looses those beautiful pads which made the original so timeless. Recommended.

Review: Hands down one of the defining tunes of the past few years, "Look Right Through" has made Morgan Geist's side-project, Storm Queen, a top draw among modern house fans. Purists might sneer at Defected's intentions but it's likely this raft of especially commissioned remixes will see the sensation NYC anthem sung by Damon C. Scott reach a much wider audience. Hot Creations' figurehead Jamie Jones goes in for a tasty mailroom-friendly extension that replaces the fluttering chords of the original with a driving acid groove, whilst Crosstown duo Art Department turn in one of their signature haunted house renditions.

Review: Four of DFTD's latest releases have arrived on wax for the very first time. On the first side is the dream team of Darius Syrossian & George Smeddles nailing that four-to-the floor main room vibe on 'Back In The Dance', followed by something deeper couretsy of YouANDme & Kristina Sheli with some near spiritual mood music on 'Moment' (Transcriptions mix). Over on the flip, Offaiah nails that classic UK tech house sound on the stompin' 'Up All Night' and the mighty Marco Faraone closes it out with a remix of READ's 'Where's My Phone' (feat Sailor Jane) that's properly geared for those heads-down moments on the dancefloor.

"Mainline" is yet another big feather in nu-disco darling Tensnake's cap; big Frankie Knuckle keys and an unashamed feel good vocal are the order of the day as Tensnake sets up a sound that will warm up in winter and cool down in the summer.
