Beard In Dust - "At The Dawn"
Tales Of Voodoo - "Sharky"
Esen Gunduz - "Deve Gucu"
Review: When it comes to exotic, off-kilter edits, you'll struggle to find a stronger series than Jonny Rock's Disco Hamam. This fifth volume is every bit as essential as its predecessors. Beards In Dust claims the A-side with "At The Dawn", a tidy revision of a druggy and "chuggy" version of a blue-eyed psychedelic funk-rock roller that comes complete with some serious sing-along sections. The heady world of Turkish music - a constant source of inspiration at the Disco Hamam HQ - comes to the fore on the B-side. Tales Of Voodoo's "Sharky" is a deliciously percussive, dancefloor-friendly fusion of Middle Eastern exoticism, funk-rock guitars and heavy disco percussion, while Esen Gunduz's "Deve Gucu" is an even sweatier, Italo Disco-era stomper that sounds like something you'd have heard in Istanbul clubs circa 1985.

Hotaru - "Catch The Train" (Hotaru edit) (4:49)
Red Lebanese - "Belle Vie" (5:34)
Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Rai - "Fekete" (4:34)
Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Rai - "Salaam Sholay!" (6:03)
Review: The Disco Hamam label is back with another instalment of its much loved set titled series. The sixth part is another sizzler that opens with an edit by Hotaru which pairs funky bass with ticketing percussion to make for a house and disco hybrid. Red Lebanese's 'Belle Vie' is a strident affair with crashing hits and more mangled synth work. Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Rai then slow things down on the dirty and low slung 'Fekete,' a darkened prowler for when the lights are low. They also link up once more for 'Salaam Sholay!', a glistening track of shiny electronics and gritty bass.

Ozerbey - "Mihrimah" (Erguder Abi Ozur Dilerim edit) (4:47)
FOC Edits - "Demdir Dem Bu Dem" (4:18)
FOC Edits - "Neredesin" (4:49)
Review: The masters of the Turkish disco edit are back! This time round, you'll find two previously unheralded rework merchants at the controls. Ozerbey handles the A-side, delivering a wonderfully evocative, hypnotic and occasional chugging re-edit of an obscure Turkish disco treat full of sweeping strings, crunchy Clavinet lines and clipped, Nile Rodgers style guitars. On the B-side, you'll find two superb cut-and-splice jobs from Turkish cosmic disco specialist FOC Edits. First he serves up the meandering Persian electric piano solos, mazy synthesizer lines and low-slung grooves of "Demdir Dem Bu Dem", before playing around with percussion on the denser, rolling late night sleaze of EP highlight "Neredesign". The track's combination of killer disco drum breaks and half sung/half-spoken vocals is particularly alluring.

Paralel Disko - "Egri Bugru" (5:24)
Paralel Disko - "Panayir Gunu" (4:28)
Afacan - "Dost Sevgisi" (6:04)
Afacan - "Ooh Oooh" (4:26)
Afacan - "Dunya" (3:57)
Review: The debut release on Disco Hamman, Baris K's Eurasia EP, is currently priced highly on the second hand market, and this long overdue follow up on the label is probably going to become equally sought after. A split release between Baris k and Jonny Rock's Paralel Disko project and Afacan, the five cuts on Disco Hamman dig deep into the vaults of the Ottoman discotheque and will add some Turkish delight to any disco selectors set. "Panayir Gunu" from Paralel Disko and the strange '80s stylings of "Dost Sevgisi" from Afacan are notable highlights but really all five tracks are sublime.

Rune Lindbaek - "Hashish" (5:09)
Tushen Rai - "Balu" (5:51)
Paralel Disko - "Gimme The Nite" (5:51)
Afacan Sound System - "Oriental" (3:53)
Review: Baris K's Disco Hamam returns with the latest edition in its various artist EP compilation - number seven to be exact. On this one, we have another fine collection of exotic and oddball grooves; Norsk Tripping chief Rune Lindbaek appears with another clever edit, this time in the form of the hazy Middle Eastern musical themed "Hashish", Tushen Rai visits acid house via Bollywood on "Balu", Paralel Disko (Baris K) serves up the EP highlight with a low-slung cover of the George Benson classic "Gimme The Nite" and closing it out on the B side with Jonny Rock aka Afacan Sound System on the wacky Wurlitzer boogie of "Oriental".

Tokyo Matt - "Fist Full Of Dollars" (6:18)
Tokyo Matt - "Tales Of The Orientale" (5:49)
Afacan Soundsystem - "Ya Sabir Disco" (6:31)
Afacan Soundsystem - "Biz Salkimiz" (6:33)
Track 5 (3:28)
Review: Time for another dip into the deep bubbling Turkish groove baths as Disco Hamam instigate a fourth volume of obscure Turkish disco delights. Tokyo Matt takes the A side with two distinct tales; the feisty dollar packing disco bullet "Fist Full Of Dollars" and a much more emotional, cinematic saga in the form of "Tales Of The Orientale". Hamam regular Afacan takes the B with two more eastern odysseys. "Ya Sabir Disco" is pure theatre with its ever mutating arrangement and almost festive feel while "Biz Salkimiz" continues the drama with added slinkiness in the groove department. Delicious.
