  3. The Line (6:22)
  4. Time (6:48)
Review: Just weeks after making his Masterworks Music bow with a fine 12" of beefed-up, house style re-edits, Chevals makes his bow on Editorial. The Frenchman hits the ground running with "Left Behind", a glassy-eyed loop jam that layers slightly sped-up soul/R&B vocals atop a mid-tempo '80s soul groove, before offering up a house style revision of a summery jazz-funk number on "I Of Love". Arguably even better is "The Line", a loose and groovy take on a slap-bass propelled deep disco shuffler, while EP closer "Time" is sumptuous, bass-heavy, loved-up and heady in the best possible way.

  1. The Need Inside (6:18)
  2. Dat Funk (4:58)
  3. Lemonade (3:54)
  4. Layover Blues (6:24)
  5. Layover Blues (Nebraska remix) (5:50)
Review: Given their contributions to the label over the years, it's perhaps fitting that Editorial's special Record Store Day release comes from experienced re-editors and bespoke mash-up merchants Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee. There's plenty of floor-friendly fire to be found lurking on the EP, from the pumped-up, electrofunk-era disco-funk bounce of "The Need Inside", to the solo-laden funk shuffle of sax-laden groover "Dat Funk" and hip-hop tempo heaviness of "Lemonade", whose dusty breakbeats will delight hip-hop DJs. The undoubted highlight, though, is the organ-sporting peak-time chug of "Layover Blues", which is also given a dazzling, funk-fuelled house makeover by sometime Mr Saturday Night label contributor Nebraska.

Review: Elusive duo Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee have been delighting dancefloors around the globe since 2009. With their signature brand of chunky disco dubs infused with hip-hop flavours and a slow mo house feel. They have had dozens of vinyl releases on great labels around the globe like Whiskey Disco , Disco Deviance, Paper & more in addition to having their tracks played by the likes of Soul Clap and Derrick Carter. Not to mention being remixed by legend Greg Wilson, so these guys definitely have credentials. With no plans to slow down , they now drop the "Slo-Mo Disco" LP on the mighty Editorial Records this summer. A perfect way to light up any daytime disco pool party, BBQ or dancefloor!

  1. Ed Wizard & Double Disco Dee - "Spirit Power" (6:13)
  2. Duff Disco - "Burning Hot" (6:05)
  3. Hotmood - "I Was Born In Mexico" (6:18)
  4. Alex Zuiev - "I Feel Funky" (6:23)
Review: While most Editorial EPs feature contributions from a range of high-flying re-editors, their latest collection of cuts boasts a particularly star-studded line-up. For example, it features a now rare outing from Jeremy Duffy under the familiar Duff Disco alias, a gently rolling disco-soul revision called "Burning Hot" that underpins a suitably glassy-eyed cut with his trademark soft-touch house drums. More up-tempo fare can be found on side B, where Hotmood's disco-funk rearrangement "I Was Born In Mexico" - think restless slap bass, eyes-shut guitar solos, bouncy drums and rising horns - is joined by the razor-sharp disco-funk sweatiness of Alex Zuiev's "I Feel Funky". Arguably best of all, though, is Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee's woozy, sample-heavy disco roller "Spirit Power".
