Bad For Me (12")
Cat: AS 11409. Rel: 01 Jan 90
  1. Bad For me
  2. Back Of Your Mind
Review: The soulful title track to her album of the same name, "Bad For Me" is remixed here with a bit more flair by Larry Levan! The tune skips along at a really upbeat little pace, not really club but with more of a boogie flavour overall and it's backed by a mellower number with some jazzy George Duke production!

Review: It has been quite the year for Toni Watson, Australian singer, songwriter and - in 2019 - chart darling, breaking records for most weeks sat at the country's number one single spot and garnering all manner of critical and public praise in the process. This debut EP should leave no questions as to quite why there has been such success, what with incredible accessibility meeting a refusal to stay still long enough for pigeonholing to take place.

Vocally there's certainly plenty for fans of Lykke Li to enjoy, although drawing such simple comparisons does neither artist any favours. Title number 'The Kids Are Coming' has more in common with Roisin Murphy's Matthew Herbert collaborations, 'Colourblind' takes us into the subdued emotions of lo-fi electronic heartbreakers like the XX, while 'Jimmy' and 'Never Seen The Rain' are timeless pop anthems you struggle to forget in a hurry. A new star is born.
