  1. We Can't Fly (Cassius remix)
  2. Caramellas (Joakim remix)
  3. Caramellas (Joakim dub)
Review: Aside from a few select remix commissions and monthly Soundcloud mixes, Vito Aeroplane has been largely absent this year, possibly holed up in the studio plotting how to follow We Can't Fly, his epically cast debut album. Whilst we await some new material form De Luca, Eskimo return to that debut for possibly the final time, electing to assign some French royalty the task of remixing the title track. Cassius are up first with a magnificent revision, stripping the track of its mid tempo Compass Point swagger in favour of an incendiary gospel house refrain that is fully dosed up on rave juice. Tigersushi boss Joakim is on inspired form too - as he always seems to be with remixes - with an equally anthemic take on the Aeroplane classic "Caramellas"!

  4. Zsa Zsa (Kiani vs Red D remix)
Review: The original of this first saw the light back in autumn 2013, and it remains a dynamically built nu-disco track boasting early Aeroplane style piano licks and an arresting vocal from Kristina Train. It's Blamma Blamma at their most stately and stunning. Here we find it in remix form; Psychemagik provide a liquid, bulbous bass facelift, Cato re-emphasises the nude beauty with a few edit sparkles, Wolf + Lamb go deeper with a synth heavy late-night floor stomper while Kiani vs Red D close the show with a sunset-minded slice of modern euphoria. Each twist adding a whole new chapter to the Blamma Blamma story, the only problem is working out which rub to add in your next set.

Review: When Eskimo Recordings approached Bill Brewster with the idea of putting together a compilation exploring his epic record collection, the acclaimed journalist and DJ decided to take a widescreen approach. The resultant collection is vast and predictably on-point, with each of the CDs gathering together tracks on a loose theme ("Post-Punk", "Balearic" and "House"). As you'd expect, it's a hugely impressive and eye-opening set, with Brewster serving up largely obscure or long-forgotten cuts that range in scope from trippy, dubbed-out post-punk disco, jaunty jazz-funk, synth-heavy boogie and heavily percussive Afro-disco grooves, to saucer-eyed European synth-pop, the dub techno of Maurizio, Swag's early UK tech-house and the East Midlands deep house bump of Charles Webster's "A Love From San Francisco" project. In other words, it's a cracker from start to finish.

  2. A Tale Of Two Lovers
Review: Belgium's Eskimo Recordings has always been unpredictable, though much of their output tends to straddle the fine line between nu-disco and deep house. That's certainly the case here, as Rotterdam-based Eelke Kleijn delivers two solid chunks of house/disco fusion. "Lovely Sweet Divine", with its swirling strings, bouncy bassline, addictive cowbells and sublime deep house chords, is particularly good. In fact, with its brilliant, string-laden breakdown, it sounds like a summer Balearic anthem in waiting. "A Tale of Two Lovers" is deeper, more melodic and almost melancholic. It comes backed with a pleasing Dub that injects a little deep house shuffle beneath its mournful violins and playful melodies.

Review: This double pack addendum to the Paradise Goulash mix from Prins Thomas for Eskimo will be of interest to any collectors out there who consider themselves completists of the Full Pupp founder's work. It's entirely made up of previously unreleased re-edits from the Norwegian maestro done specifically for the 57 track mix and it's quite the treat! Witness as the twinkling delights of "Xoul Particles" by Actress is embellished with the most subtle of percussive underbellies, the krauty delights of "Don't Dream It Be It" are blessed with a fine kosmische groove and Box Saga's "Zen & The Art of Deadlinesss" is made all the more sleazier. A fine set of scandolearic DJ tools straight from the master's mixing deck.

Review: After giving us Beach and Love editions of his Ritual Music compilation strand, Psychemagik's Danny McLewin heads off into the night with Dance, the third and final instalment. As the title suggests, this volume is nominally more club-focused than its predecessors, with McLewin serving up super-smooth boogie business (The Right Combination's "I'm Still In Love With You"), intergalactic P-funk (Sharpio's killer "Dance Drome (Make Your Body Move)"), freestyle/house fusion (the overlooked Acid Rain Dub of Will To Power's "Say It's Gonna Rain"), and much more besides. This time round, not all of McLewin's selections are ludicrously expensive or hard to find, but they're all exceptionally good.

Review: Whatever you think of their original productions, there's no denying the continued quality of Psychemagik's compilations. Their latest epic exploration of member Danny McLewin's epic record collection, Ritual Music, is split into three parts. This volume, Love, predictably includes some genuine thrillers, from the new age electronica of Man Parrish's "Water Sports", and the global mysticism of "Amram" by The Rias Orchestra, to the breathy sleaze of Jeanette's "L'Amour Jove Au Viol", and seductive guitar solos of Bobby Lyle's jazz-funk classic "Makin' Love". We could go on. Suffice to say, there's barely a duffer in sight, and more intriguing twists and turns than your average sci-fi murder mystery.

Review: Though they've put out numerous 12"s from the likes of Lindstrom, Aeroplane, Ilya Santana and more over the years, Eskimo's revered reputation amongst the leftfield disco hoi polloi has been secured by their countless excellent compilation series. Following the label's Eskimonde anniversary box set last year, Eskimo return with a new compilation series that signals the next stage in the label's enduring career. Entitled The Pink Collection, this 13 track set of all new productions from the likes of Kasper Bjorke, Martin Brodin, Satin Jackets and Copycat, It expectedly veers luxuriously through psychedelic disco, laidback cosmic chug and more and fits snugly alongside the Radioslave and Glimmers helmed compilations released on Eskimo.

Review: For the fifth installment of their colour coordinated compilation series, Eskimo Recordings has picked a Yellow theme. Perhaps its' just us, but the music contained within seems to be even hazier and more incandescent than that featured on previous volumes. In other words, it's a deliciously summery selection, with the Belgian label highlighting works from label regulars and newcomers that subtly blur the boundaries between languid Balearica, colourful nu-disco, deep house, slo-mo grooves and horizontal synth-pop. Highlights come thick and fast, from the sparse, head-nodding grooves of Middle Sky Boom, the revivalist dub disco of Luxxury, and subtle psychedelics of Vinny Villbass, to the spacey, Italo disco-influenced throb of Zombies In Miami.
