Lexploitation (3:59)
Memories Of Sex Desire (4:07)
Leaders In Space (6:31)
Cyber Bondage (6:15)
Review: It's easy to see - or hear - how you could find 'Lexploitation', the first track on Directive V, pretty intimidating. The trance-inducing background snare lines and cold, retro-futurist synth line, coupled with thudding kick drums, quickly invoke Brad Fiedel's score to The Terminator and Terminator 2, although here things might even sound a little more sinister, what with those ghoulish background whispers. Thankfully, for those who don't like their electro with death robots, the hilariously-titled 'Memories of Sex Desire' soon changes things up, a little at least, bringing in a classic 1980s wave refrain and downtempo break. 'Leaders in Space' is far bouncier, bordering on Italo but not quite committing, while 'Cyber Bondage' brings elements of acid to the fore.

Death Posture - "Plastic Melodies" (4:32)
Review: It was a while ago now that Spanish label Frigio dropped the fourth instalment of this series - back in October 2021, in fact. But as big time breakbeat lovers we're glad they have cooked us up another serving. This fifth edition doesn't muck about either with the crashing jungle intensity of Starhawk & Friends's 'X-22' opening up. There is French rap over more crunchy analogue drums on Rambal Cochet's 'Metacortex' manic industrial electro noise on Jack Carel's contribution and an ice cold sense of cold wave funk to Neud Photo's standout 'Spark Knock.' These are just some of the gems on this timely release.

Aphasia (4:26)
Melted Doubts (3:17)
Review: A world of brutal beats and hard edge techno rhythms beckons on this new min album, vocals often obstructed by brushing synths and comprised textural sounds, tortured leads and fizzing apocalyptic energies that make it perfect for gritty warehouse raves. Opener 'The Brain Plays With Me' sets a powerful tone from the off, while 'Claroscuro' slips into a slower but just as caustic world of sound. 'Don't Trust In The First Whispers' is a paranoid chamber of reflected vocals and crashing hits that has you looking over your shoulder and 'Melted Doubts' is doom laden drone from the end of the world.
