Review: Here is the official re-issue of Earth Boys' "Destination Heaven", the highly sought after musical collaboration of Chicago legends Roy Davis Jr & Jay Juniel - which comes courtesy of Fruit Merchant, the label by Hidden Spheres. Originally released in 1997 on Davis Jr and Juniel's Undaground Therapy Muzik, this is classic and timeless house music the way it was intended - this release goes for exorbitant prices on the second hand market. From the soulful and evocative deepness of A side cut "Destination Heaven", to the almost Mr. Fingers sounding, life-affirming groove of "Star Struck", with its sharp Juno bassline and evocative strings - it's awe-inspiring. Retouched with love and extreme care with the help of Manchester's don Andi Hanley and London's TenEightSeven Mastering.

Review: Having previously plied his wares on Distant Hawaii, Rhythm Section International and Moods and Grooves, amongst others, Hidden Spheres has decided to launch his own label. Fittingly, he's handled the first release himself, serving up a quartet of tracks that each boasts samples from forgotten 1970s documentary Wonders of the Rainforest. Given the title and sample theme, it's perhaps unsurprising that it's a thoroughly colourful, vibrant and synthesizer heavy affair, with opener "Forest Soil" (accompanied on side A by a wondrous ambient "Reprise") delivering a pitched-down slice of Italian style dream house bliss. Elsewhere, "Sapodila" sees him serving up a chugging chunk of tribal deep house/dub disco fusion and "Lianas" joins the dots between summery jazz-funk and Safe Trip style new age house.

Review: Hidden Spheres had some great and well deserved praise for his outing on Rhythm Section but now the Fruit Merchant label head is back to his own stand with some fresh and juicy offerings. 'Get Lover' is a big one - a classy dance floor banger with fat and bouncy bass, analogue cow bells, a rude vocal and plenty of old school rave stabs. On the remix is Manchester's don of the dance floor banger, DJ Absolutely Shit. His version makes more of the big piano energy with bright loops and dusty breaks.

Review: Four effervescent jackers from manx party starter Hidden Spheres. The opener 'Step To Me' is a slippery broken beat anthem landing somewhere between Alex Attias' smoove keys and DJ Haus' brash MIDI trumpet two-step, which lapses into the full pelt, swaggering 'Don't Front', which feels exactly like the kind of song you want to stride into the club to. Side two brings us two more orthodox sax workouts. The aptly named 'LUVR MAN' is a cheeky, slap n' tickle two steppa, while 'SO SXY' applies the blinkered focus of DJ Rashad's best breakdowns to a laid back house beat.
