Review: Believe it or not, it's been eight years since Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt aka Smackos aka Venom 18 aka House of Jezebel - and many more - has released under the enigmatic Franz Falckenhaus moniker. As iconic and singular as this sound may be, it has been left to linger beautifully in the shadows. Until now. The Dutch synth God returns with Tupolev System, an instantly immersive LP that has been released courtesy of Vercetti Technicolor and Antoni Maiovvi's marvellous Giallo Disco. The album is one sound, with one vision, opting for a deeper and richer house sound that we're usually accustomed to with Wolfers. Blurring the lines between drone, ambient, house and post-wave, this LP flutters effortlessly form genre to genre, and from tempo to tempo. However, there is a constant and unmistakable touch throughout it. One that is grounded in European industrial culture, and one which will surely attract more than the usual 'outsider' house cats. Another magnificent piece of timeless electronic music from Danny Wolfers.
