Dance MF (5:45)
Shake Dat Ass (4:39)
Review: Fierce, new wave hip-house and garage vibes from Utrecht's Anil Aras on DJ Haus' imprint for serious house heads only. On the A side is "Dance MF" a wicked DJ tool that features one brutally booming 909 kick you'll ever hear, supported by funky breaks and hip hop vocal samples. On the flip it's the kind of Jersey sound that'd make Todd Edwards stand up and notice on "Shake Dat Ass" with its hissing, swing fuelled shuffle, more hip-house samples and 909 boom taking it all the way home!

I Wanna Love You
Even If It Takes All Night
Every Body Everybody
Picking Up Promises
Review: Having debuted on Unknown To The Unknown earlier this year with the Woo Right EP, Mr William Burnett is coaxed back into the fold by DJ Haus for this excellent 12" on his Hot Haus offshoot. Describing the four tracks here as simply "slow-swung house jackers," as the label indeed does, is quite a disservice to Burnett as I Wanna Love You really does showcase his deftness and cleverness for utilising samples. Take for example the two A Side tracks which both use the same doleful vocal sample and pull them in different sonic directions, one delightfully lo fi thanks to the cheap keyboard riffs and the other positively dreamy. "Every Body Everybody" surpasses both though, with the titular refrain fed through the channels and twisted around a superbly simple house groove.

Delorean Dreams (original mix)
Delorean Dreams (Legowelt "By A Lighthouse" remix)
Okinawa Race 1
Review: After some impressive turns for ClekClekBoom and Needwant, Chaos In The CBD are moving over to Hot Haus for some more of their old-skool styled house offerings with a focus on lo-fi charm and pure hearted groove. "Delorean Dreams" has a dystopian electro tone at its core, as defined by the warbling synth line and punchy bassline, although it still moves with the strict instruction of a house beat. "Okinawa" likewise has its own raw edge to it, as though it were lifted from an early KMS record, warts and all. Legowelt gets beamed in for a remix of "Delorean Dreams" that heads into a nightmarish swirl of lurid sci-fi synths and subtle breaks.

After Effects (4:33)
Inside (4:28)
Light Footed (4:25)
Review: The long-running and rightly influential Hot Haus signs up label debutant Daffy here for a three-tracker with a real punch. He brings a raw mix of bassline, 2-step and garage-infused house having turned heads with releases on the super-hyped Timeisnow label. He brings original and authentic flavours from the off with 'After Effects' which has dark bass and coarse drum textures. 'Inside' is another naughty one with a sleazy bassline and perfect pitched-up vocals and 'Light Footed' then shuts down with crunchy drums, gun finger synths and withering pads all designed to jack the floor.

Hot In Dis MuthaFucka (3:28)
Touch Ur Boody (4:42)
Review: By now, we should all know what to expect from DJ Haus's Thug House Anthems series, namely throbbing, Dancemania-inspired blends of ghetto vocal samples, thunderous basslines and raw, uncompromising beats. It's a simple formula that guarantees simple, floor-friendly thrills. Each of the four tracks here is a tried-and-tested banger, from the twisted electronics and pitched-up Chicago jack of "Touch Your Boody" [sic], to the fizzing breakbeats, snaking sax and chopped-up vocal samples of "Need Some Time". With such strong material on show, picking highlights is tough, though you'll struggle to find a more raw jam than slamming opener "Get Tha F*ck Out".

Thug Houz Anthem
Review: Having fully established Unknown To The Unknown as label willing to release music based on it's capacity to make people move regardless of genre, DJ Haus expands operations with the launch of Hot Haus Recs. This 12" acts as a psysical addendum to the Thug Houz Anthems Vol 1 mixtape of solo productions and collaborations with Riton and Drop The Lime that the label launched with last week, peeling off three incendiary cuts for those who crave the DJ Haus style on wax. The brilliantly named "Trumpet & Badman" lines the A Side, doffing its cap to classic UK garage styles whilst "Cold As Ice" is all about those ruff, rolling breakbeats and "Thug House Anthem" is pure dancefloor madness

Touch Ur Boody
Review: The inimitable DJ Haus returns to UTTU offshoot Hot Haus with a second helping of his Thug Hous Anthems series. If you checked the first volume you should know what to expect here as the haus man throws down four shades of house music perfect for the dancehall. The immediately gratifying tone commences with "Addicted 2 Houz" where heavy organ stabs duke it out with the most satisfying of snare drums in some time. "Feel Da Phonk" does sample heavy deepness in a manner few of the current UK crop can muster whilst "Touch Ur Boody" has some crazy pitch swinging high hats that will mess with your head!

Lets Get 2gether
Review: Once again living up to his billing as the busiest man in electronic music, DJ Haus returns with a third volume of his peerless Thug Houz Anthems series - seriously does the man sleep? As with the previous editions, the four tracks here are meant for one purpose only; implementation deep into a set, preferably at high volume in a dark basement area. Upon immediate listen "Woo! Yeh" stands out with Haus laying down all manner of crazed James Brown-style funk grunts over a killer implementation of the Think Break. Do check the brash UKG style bump and flex of Matrixmann collaboration "Feel It" too though!

Review: Self professed "90s MTV addict, vinyl supporter, and Akai lover" Marco Zanin is usually seen alongside Steve Murphy as Die Roh or indeed Steve Murphy & Co. Lately the Italian has been spreading his production tendrils as DJ Octopus with appearances on Chiwax, Muscle Records and Enlightened Wax. The Cycling EP sees Zanin bring his cephalopod house styles to the ever impressive Hot Haus operation overseen by DJ Haus and the four tracks see the Italian combine what people love about the Analogue Cops with bassline house techniques of artists like Huxley, with a dirty Chicago fare thrown in. Four different shades of contemporary house music to make the one killer EP.

Hangover (5:48)
Review: Italian rave monkey DJ Octopus is a prolific sort. This is his third EP for DJ Haus's Hot Haus imprint in less than a year. As you'd expect, it's packed with weighty, dancefloor-friendly concoctions. He begins with the mangled rave vocal stabs, throbbing sub-bass and intense military percussion builds of "Aware Mistake", before calming things down a little via the loopy dub house business of "Fixed Thought". "Day By Day" sounds like an attempt to capture the spirit and unfettered joy of rave-era house - think urgent vocal samples, skittish breakbeats and "Pacific" style chords - while "Hangover" bangs hard thanks to its' heavy bassline, bumpin' beats and R&B vocal samples.

Walk In Broadway
Review: Consistently on form house master DJ Steaw is back with more of his essential nuggets. "Freee" (House mix) has something of a classicist feel, with its straight up drums and star gazing synth lines disappearing off into the cosmos. A sweet and tender vocal finishes it in style. "Freee" in original form is a perfect bit of late 80s jazz funk, disco and boogie fusion that rides low while making your temperature rise. "Walk In Broadway" closes out with more peak time grooves, pounding kicks and an old school bassline that nags down low throughout.

Picpus (6:36)
Review: Fresh from fine 2017 outings on Madhouse and his own Steaward label, action man DJ Steaw returns to Hot Haus Records with a trio of deep house jack-tracks. A-side "Heaven", a rush-inducing mixture of dreamy deep techno electronics, tactile synth bass, bustling beats and subtle "Pacific 808" references, is little less than a spine-tingling, saucer-eyed anthem, while "Picpus" sees the experienced French producer pepper a classic NYC deep house groove with hooky organ stabs and almost overwhelmingly picturesque synthesizer motifs. The EP's other cut, "I See You", is arguably the deepest of the bunch, though the producer's use of skipping beats and heavy sub-bass guarantees good dancefloor energy throughout.

Frogman (6:42)
Review: French producer DJ Steaw has tended to do his own thing, self-releasing many 12" singles, with only occasional outings on established imprints such as Local Talk. He's clearly impressed Hot Haus boss Rupert Cogan, though, as he's snapped up this fine collection of peak-time bangers. Steaw begins by peppering a bombastic, revivalist warehouse groove with Sterling Void samples, banging pianos and sweaty synth stabs on "Get Down", before taking things deeper and dreamier on the accompanying Dub mix. Flip for the fabulously muscular "Frogman", which sees our hero take inspiration from both the thumping, basement-bothering productions of Sound Factory-era Junior Vasquez, and the more hypnotic deep house sounds of vintage I:Cube.

Z Luv (Mark Hawkins remix) (5:35)
Review: It's a rather remarkable 100 up for the Hot Haus label as EZ jam comes through with four fierce cuts of potent garage and house. The opener has a classic vocal sample reworked in an all new groove framework and sure to do plenty of damage. 'Take It EZ' is a more minimal and stripped out jungle rhythm with super quick, tight drum loops taking you ever higher. 'EZ Come' is another post-jungle affair with a flurry of drums, hurried drums and hits and a sense of urgency that you cannot escape. Last of all, the relentless Mark Hawkins remixes 'Z Luv' into a slamming minimal banger that eventually erupts on old school piano chords.

Council 2013 (original)
Council (Matrixxman remix)
Review: Originally released by Jess & Crabbe in 1999 and 2000 respectively on the French label Fiat Lux, "The Big Booya" and "Council" were a pair of proto French Touch bangers that are now the subject of a reissue from Hot Haus, the recently founded offshoot of Unknown to the Unknown. It represents the second reissue that label overseer DJ Haus has been involved in this year, having previously given OHM's early '90s classic "Tribal Tone" a timely new pressing on UTTU. As with that reissue, which saw remixes from Capracara and Marquis Hawkes, both the Jess & Crabbe cuts have been reworked by two equally club-savvy production units in the form of Kodiak and Matrixxman. The former's massive remix gets our vote, somehow combining jungle and footwork into an all encompassing juggernaut of a track.

Review: Fresh from dropping that Trumpet & Badman 12", UTTU offshoot Hot Haus Recs returns with a killer slab from the excellent London based duo Kodiak. If you enjoyed the kaleidoscopic rave of Spreo Superbus, Kodiak's debut release last year on Numbers then your senses will throb with delight when exposed to the Dragon Drop EP which brandishes two all new club burners and a killer refix from the 'up & coming' Eliphino. The title cut sounds like vintage 90s era Timbalaand double dropped and splayed over a near footwork tempo beat pattern and in hands the Eliphino the sense of euphoria is replaced by sub heavy darkness. The best is saved till last with the slalom like stab heavy house of "Egyptian Nights".

Dedication (NASA mix) (8:17)
Review: Those who've kept track with Krystal Klear's career will note that the Irish producer regularly pays tribute to historic aspects of dance music culture. Rarely, though, has he made his intentions quite as clear as this. As the name suggests, Club Studies features cuts that wholeheartedly doff a cap towards the records played at legendary New York clubs. On the A-side you'll find two versions of "Just a Little"; a groovy, soulful and sparkling mix inspired by the weekly Sunday Service bashes, and a chunky, hypnotic, percussion-led affair that nails the sound Danny Tenaglia was championing at Twilo in the late 1990s. Turn to the flip for the muscular, Junior Vasquez style dark garage of "Dedication (Sound Factory Mix)" and the riff-heavy Brooklyn techno throb of the "NASA Mix" of the same track.

Rippin The V's
Review: DJ Haus' bastion of rude and raucous house music continues to deliver the goods for anyone wanting some spice to shake in their set, and this time Locklead and Wouter S team up to deliver two righteous sermons on how to get low down and nasty in the dance. "Stutter" strides out with a confident garage swing, heavily vibing chord lines and the kind of bass that turns good folks bad, all delivered with a crisp focus and plenty of studio heft. "Rippin The V's" has a more edgy feel to it, working some oddball effects into the mix without losing any of that raw and direct party-starting chemistry that makes the A side so self-assured.

If it soundtracks any particular time of a pool party it's when everyone starts pushing each other it. Joyously buzzy. Review: Jordan Alexander's Mall Grab alias has provided nothing but goodness since his first EP in 2015, and he's released a staggering amount of material just over a year. Releases for stables like 1080p, Church and Unknown To The Unknown haven't gone unnoticed from us, and we now await his next moves with high expectations. Thankfully, he hasn't let us down with this new pack of bangers for Hot Haus, with the opener "I Just Wanna" mashing up harsh Chicago house with a little bit of disco sensibility. An instant hit. Flip to the B-side and you're presented with the off-kilter groove that is "Kalumbo", whereas "Feelin' Good" takes more of a traditional house approach to flap its ghetto-ass wings. An excellent little tip, this!

Highlife (Willie Burns remix)
Review: Andrew Field-Pickering seems to be on a roll at the moment. Following last year's brilliantly madcap drum workouts under the Dolo Percussion moniker, he returns to the more familiar Max D guise for an outing on the always-impressive Unknown to the Unknown label. "Highlife" is in many ways typical of his recent output, with pitched-down jungle drums underpinning typical tropical synths and a bouncing, off-kilter bassline. It's hard to pin down, but impressive nonetheless. Willie Burns remixing, turning the left-of-centre original into a wide-eyed chunk of African-influenced tropical deep house. It's a little saner than the original, but no less potent.

To quote DJ Haus in all caps "THE FIRST OF MANY HOT HAUS RECS IN EFFEKT RELEASES TO COME THIS YEAR!" Murphy is of course a key cog in the circle of Italian hardware enthusiasts that includes Restoration, and The Analogue Cops with last year's Relax EP for Lobster Theremin something of a breakthrough. Here we find Palace return to the London stable with three tight, timeless chop-slapping grooves. "Touch Me" is the heaviest, most unrelenting cut with a cool, loopy Sneak style punch. Elsewhere both "Labrynth" and "Psychosis" look more towards Detroit than they do Chicago thanks to their icy detuned synths, bubbling analogue-sounding bass and simple-but-massively-effective riffs. The latest Hot Haus release (the sixth issued since September!) sees a welcome return for whippersnapper producer Palace whose Vision 12" is the third record issued on the UTTU offshoot in a year! Osiris Resurrected is the latest release in what's been a fairly unrelenting year for both Hot Haus and UTTU and finds Photonz producer Marco Rodriguez dipping into Egyptian mythology for inspiration with the results a mighty slice of polyrhythmic techno filled with cascading melodies that are almost ticklish in their execution. The 12"'s potential for club play is maximised further by a remix by Lobster Theremin's Palms Trax - his first by our estimation - that retains certain melodic elements but introduces all manner of diced up breakbeats.

This third EP - his first for DJ Haus' Hot Haus imprint - continues in a similar vein to his first two outings for Trax Couture. That means a tough, raw blend of ghetto-tech, revivalist acid house, footwork and sub-bothering bass-house. Choose between the jacking rhythms, thunderous kick drums and Armando-ish rave stabs of "Dance Show" and "Drop Top", a cracking, in-your-face DJ tool built around footwork style handclaps, warped sub-bass and relentless drum machine cymbals. A round of applause to DJ Haus for coaxing some further Seaside Houz Boys material out of Wolfers for this latest Hot Haus 12". Living up to it's title, this 12" arrives with some wonderfully ludicrous artwork depicting Wolfers and what looks like Creme boss DJ TLR surfing ice cream on oversize Oreos. Here, they dust off their best classic house and techno influences for an EP on DJ Haus's rave-inclined Hot Haus label. They begin with the rave-era heaviness of "Dem Work" - all nasty hoover bass, pulsating riffs and scattergun drum fills - before delivering some deep, dreamy and shimmering goodness in the shape of "Zone 3". While the rough, acid-inspired throb of the strangely metallic "Fine Ant" is impressive, the EP's most poignant moment is undoubtedly "Bikini Spill", which cleverly mixes chiming, vintage synthesizer melodies and saucer-eyed chords with a jaunty, funk-fuelled groove.

Off The Chain finds the pair debuting on Hot Haus with a two track of rowdy, dressed to sweat house action that sits nicely alongside recent efforts on the label from Steve Murphy and Palace.
