Deep House
  1. Come Together (6:37)
  2. Digital Sound (6:21)
Review: The Helliker-Hales brothers are in fine form on their latest two-track missive on their In Dust We Trust imprint. A-side "Come Together" is perhaps a little bolder and more tech-tinged than their regular fare, with distinctive, alien-sounding lead lines, trance-like female vocal snippets and stabbing, warehouse-ready riffs rising over forthright drums and a chunky, retro-futurist bassline. If anything, "Digital Sound" is even heavier, with dub-wise vocal snippets, bleeping electronics and foreboding chords dancing around heavy tribal drums and the kind of muscular riffs that were once a hallmark of Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia's mid-90s productions. In other words, it's a suitably sizable "big room" record.

  1. Orange Blank (5:51)
  2. Green Dove (6:06)
Review: Chaos In The CBD brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales begin 2019 by serving up another essential two-track missive on the In Dust We Trust imprint they launched in early 2017. A-side "Orange Blank" is wonderfully warm, atmospheric and evocative, with the New Zealand duo peppering a chunky, bongo-laden breakbeat groove with rich bass and wave upon wave of loved-up, glassy-eyed chords (think turn-of-the-90s Italian Dream House with a dash of 808 State and Mood Hut thrown in). You'll find more sunrise-ready deep house warmth on the flip, where gently pulsing chords, undulating synth bass, fluttering electronics and sharp TB-303 acid lines combine brilliantly on "Green Dove".

Deep House
  1. All Night, All Right! (6:08)
  2. Shoplifters (7:44)
  3. Shifting Sounds (5:36)
Review: More sensual and laid back deep house for the late night courtesy of Jon Sable's In Dust We Trust imprint which he runs with fellow London-based Kiwis Chaos In The CBD. Following up that great split EP he put out last year with Steve Huerta, Sable will have you mesmerised by these 3 solid cuts beginning with the infectious "All Night, All Right!" with its woozy chords, boompty bass and sexy saxophone all working their magic over clipped and swinging beats. Flip over for the equally emotive mood music of "Shoplifters" and "Shifting Sounds" which calls to mind the sound of late noughties Swiss deep house by Mountain People, Agnes and Quarion.
