Review: Here's a rather curious concoction: a compilation that features both remixes by Trentemoller and reworks from other artists of his own productions. It's a slightly muddled concept in many ways, but it makes for an interesting, diverting and at times sensational listen. It's typically musically varied; with Trentemoller's own remixes veering wildly from icy electronica (his UNKLE version) and marimba-laden pop (Do) to skewed punk-funk (Franz Ferdinand) and hard-edged synth fuzziness (Depeche Mode). The guest remixes of Trentemoller's own productions are equally as eclectic, with Modeselektor's post-dubstep soundscapes and Kollektiv Turmstrassse avant-techno oddness contrasting brilliantly with Andrew Weatherall's stunning, dub-punk-funk and UNKLE's scratchy, organ-laden electronica.

Review: Trentemoller's Into The Great Wide Yonder sees the Danish producer dipping his toe into new territory to deliver an LP that sounds wholly natural and unforced, showcasing yet another side to his musical prowess. Not that we should be surprised - 2006's critically acclaimed debut The Last Resort was a crisp dance record, while his first mix compilation, Harbour Boat Trips, came loaded with varying sentiments of indie, rock and pop. Into The Great Wide Yonder completes Trentemøller's transition from his roots as a dancefloor producer into the more instrument-led domain of pop and rock tinged electronica. Still using a driving kick drum as the core to the album, the In My Room head honcho is still very much part of the dance scene, just not in the club focused way that we're used to.

Review: Over the years, Trentemoller's sound has subtly evolved. Where he was once famous for delivering a particularly atmospheric, hushed interpretation of minimal techno - with occasional forays into otherworldly ambient - the Danish producer is now better known for exploring the darker recesses of '80s synth-wave and minimalist pop. On Fixion, his first album for three years, he pushes the envelope further, delivering a set of tracks bristling with early New Order guitars, bouncy analogue drum machine rhythms, throbbing minimal wave synths, sly EBM nods, and woozy, ambient-influenced soundscapes. Most impressive of all, though, is the quality of songs showcased throughout. It's pop, Jim, but not as we know it.

Review: Denmark's premier electronic export Trentemoller indulges his inner rockabilly with the organ heavy 60s psychedelia twisted for a modern generation of "Silver Surfer Ghost Rider Go!" which comes beefed by remixes from Anders himself, along with the modern day king of rockabilly Sir A Weatherall and Danish dubsteppers Lulu Rouge. Distinctive live drums dipped in processed effects drive the original version amidst an increasing fog of eccentric synth lines and fuzzed out guitar riffs. Trentemoller's remix, which precedes the original in the tracklisting for some reason, fuses an arpeggiating electronic thrust with freaked out screams, devilish drum rolls and overtly psychedelic organ stabs. Not to be outdone, the opposing "Prinz" remix from Weatherall impresses just as much as you'd expect, sounding very much like a studio off cut from the recent and underrated Two Lone Swordsmen material. There's a real thump to the percussion which is complemented by a surfeit of awe inspiring echoes, delays and filters which reverberate throughout. Lulu Rouge's final transformation of the track into a stuttering raw minimalist half stepper filled with simmering drama and schizoid bass frequencies might seem incongruous, or a token dubstep presence depending on how cynical your nature is, but there's a degree of excellence to how it's pulled off that can't be dismissed.
