Further proof of the current rude health of Paris's deep house scene arrives in the shape of another rock solid EP from prolific producer Mickael Jeanerret, AKA Janeret. The Bright E.P more than lives up to its' name, with the title track delivering a near perfect blend of bushy-eyed beats, ethereal pads, deep space riffs and fluttering, manipulated vocal samples. The EP's other original cut, "Rear", boasts similarly drifting chords, but also a tech-tinged beat pattern that's as bold and funky as they come. Rising star Varhat does a terrific job remixing "Bright", retaining Jeanerret's dub techno-inspired textures, whilst adding his own Syclops-inspired synth bassline.

Review: Expoz by JanaretT & Miroloja marks another successful collaboration between the two camps, delivering four tracks of beautiful spacey melodic techno and tech house. The A-side opens with the title track, 'Expoz,' a club-focused tech house anthem that balances techy elements with pulsating melodies, setting the tone for the EP. Following is 'Fraistival,' offering a slightly progressive house vibe with a captivating melody that flows seamlessly. On Side 2, 'Anomisk' emerges as a catchy builder, drawing listeners in with its infectious rhythm and evolving layers. Closing the EP is 'Vertu,' a chill deep house gem perfect for late-night sessions, exuding class and elegance while maintaining a melodic allure. The resulting collaboration continues to give us tracks that are both hypnotic and immersive.

Review: Get ready for the next exciting release from Joule, the renowned label helmed by Janeret. This time, he invites Kicks, the french producer behind the Space Opera EP on Rutilance and some tracks on Ordinaire records supported by Chris Stussy, Cinthie, Brawther and Djoko...

Active on the french underground House scene since the begining of the 90s come back, Kicks is a real connoisseur of sound synthesis and record sampling allowing him to deliver quality on every release. Delve into four atmospheric tracks that you will struggle to date between 1999 and 2023, including a remix from the label boss himself.

Review: Yoyaku sublabel Joule delivers the deep and dubby goods once again with this various artists EP. Numerous Agnomens Vol 1 features four quality cuts, the A side featuring the rolling hypnotica of "Irisation" by Pharba which is quite redolent of Mulen's mOI series. On the flip, Toronto legend Mark Thibideau seves up the glacial and cavernous euphoria of "Spin Transformation" - tremendous work as always from this underrated veteran of the scene. Finally, we hear the impressive debut of Gauthier Deschateaux aka Gunnter with the lush and transcendental groove that is "PSK" - we're certainly keeping our eyes on this young gun in 2018!

Review: Fresh from collaborating with Dubfluss on the Rowle-released Intergalactic EP, tech-house scene stalwart Rowlanz pops up on Joule. There's much to admire throughout, not least title track "Jogger". It sees the long-serving London producer add wonderfully spacey chords and supernova electronics to rolling tech-house beats and a suitably heavy synth bassline. Elsewhere, "LH9" is an ultra deep and hypnotic affair rich in dubby bass and dreamy electronics, while Zendid's fine flipside revision of "Jogger" strikes a perfect balance between flotation tank dreaminess and minimalist dancefloor haziness.

Review: The second and final EP of 2019 on Yoyaku offshoot Joule comes courtesy of Salmanazar, a previously unheralded producer who has yet to make his or her mark in electronic music (or at least under that alias - details of the artist's identity are sketchy at best). The headline attraction is "Objects", a deep, warm and rolling exercise in tactile tech-house blessed with trippy spoken word snippets, liquid synth riffs and a chunkier, slightly dubbed-out accompanying remix by fast-rising producer r.hitect. Over on the flip, Salmanazar first joins the dots between 80s electro, Orbital's "Semi-Detached" and hazy late night tech-house on "The London Scene", before offering up a rubbery slab of heady mid set tech-house in the shape of dreamy EP closer "Triggers".

Review: For the latest release on his popular Joule label, Janaret has turned to rising star SOTA, a Berlin-based Dutch producer with a quietly impressive track record. His trademark sound is undeniably attractive and blends elements and sounds associated with both deep house and tech-house. It's that sound that comes to the fore on 'Indigo Days' - all rubbery deep house beats, spacey tech-house sonics, hypnotic riffs and ethereal electronics - and the more sub-heavy, subtly bleep-influenced throb of 'Pathways'. Over on the reverse, he opts for a sunnier, warmer and more bass-heavy deep tech-house sound, before exploring his love of classic liquid d&b on the sunny and ultra-melodious 'Strobe Society'.

Review: More playable goodness arrives from Yoyaku's deep and dubby house offshoot, Joule Imprint, with previously unheard artist Teleruic at the controls. On the A-side you'll find two hugely attractive original productions: "Pulsalii Profunde", where tactile synth bass and melodious dream house elements cluster around a squeezable tech-house groove, and the hypnotic late night throb of "Dincolo De Oriezont", which is notable for its use of heavy analogue bass and rolling intergalactic riffs. Turn to the flipside for Samuel Andre Madsen's SAM Remix of "Pulsalii Profunde", which adds a little chunky late night bounce to an otherwise ultra deep and spacey tech-house take.

Review: The Joule imprint continues to wreak havoc on our charts, and this latest collaboration between brothers Matt and Mark Thibideau is exactly the right thing for you if you're looking for some effective house grooves. Matt Thibideau's first two tracks, "Evaporation" and "Time Stands" are both effortlessly punchy deep house bangers with a strong dub-techno presence at their core, deep in the lower ends of the tracks; Mark's two licks are no different, both similarly laying down heavy 4/4 punches with mounds of echo and dubwise filtering. Smooth and elegant DJ tools.

Review: If you're vibing on the current wave of proggy, trance-inflected tech house then you're sure to dig this new one from debutant producer Valen. Yoyaku sublabel Joule is carrying the Redsphere 12" fresh from a release with Janeret & Miroloja, and sure enough the tracks strike a fine balance between warm, fulsome tones and sleek minimalism as you would expect from the Parisian constellation. The title track in particular has a refined strain of dub at its core, but never at the expense of the rhythm section's steady locomotion. There's a rolling breakbeat slant to 'Blinding Lights' which should satisfy the warm up crew, and 'Divinian' gets into something cheekier thanks to its rubbery synth wriggles, ensuring you've got plenty of options when you slide this one in the bag.
