Review: Christian Loffler has been producing pensive, cinematic electronic soundscapes for a long time now. 10 years since his first EP landed, the German producer presents his third studio album on his own Ki Records label. Once again Loffler has continued to grow through the album recording process, embracing more adventurous textural and sound design practices whilst also enriching his songwriting chops. The vocal turns from Josephine Philip and Mohna help deepen the seductive melancholy of his compositions, but even in its instrumental moments the pensive synth lines sing their own heartfelt messages. If you're a fan of Jon Hopkins, Nathan Fake and other such emotionally charged electronica artists, you won't want to miss this album.

Review: Christian Loftier is one of those artists who has made it on their own. The young producer has built his label from the ground up, the excellent Ki Records and, with it, a glorious strain of downtempo music that sits perfectly well with our current moods and tastes. His sound belongs to the Baltic Sea, the area where he comes from, and one which fully represents this crestfallen yet euphoric assemblage of sounds. This new album, called Mare - which is translated from Latin as 'sea' - is a full immersion into Loffler's deep and pensive state of mind. The LP flows from beginning to end with a fluidity that is uncommon these days and, thanks to fourteen stunning segments of music, the artist takes the listener on a journey through drones, electronic ambience, glitchy beats and ethereal, bass-driven arrangements. It's a wonderfully majestic sway of influences and ideas, and one which we very much recommend.
