Kendo Rocks
Bernie's Boogie
Getting Spacey Again
Review: The first "KM Editions" EP of the year, it's another essential addition to the collection as the London editor lays down three very distinct chapters. "Kendo Rocks" pays homage to UK wrestling OG Kendo Nagasaki with feint Oriental motifs over a steady chugging, dubby groove while "Bernie's Boogie" takes us on a hazy, balmy Gainsbourg style trip. Finally we hit "Getting Spacey Again" with a juicy synth-laced, slap-bassed disco groove looped up with raw majesty. Get mashed.

Ferry Home (8:32)
I'm Still Qualified (7:44)
Twin Magik (5:56)
Review: London-based producer Keyboard Masher has been flying out a no-nonsense brand of disco-infected grooves since 2010 on their own KM Editions label. Devoid of hype and placing the emphasis on the music, the eighth installment in this crucial series of seductive late night jams packs in more boogie than you can shake a particularly funky stick at. "Ferry Home" strikes an irresistible 80s note with its live band undercurrent, while "I'm Still Qualified" slinks down into a more sultry mood before "Twin Magjik" heads skywards on a bed of twinkling synth tones. Sweet disco tones don't come fresher than this.

Stolen Shapes (Stealing rework)
Astral Playground
Le Cod
Review: The KM Editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious Keyboard Masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. Past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, Balearica, funk, Italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. This sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and re-edited gems. There's naturally much to admire, not least the OMD style woozy synth-pop of "Stolen Shapes (Stealing Rework)", which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a Balearic disposition. The same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of "Astral Playground". There's also a chunk of silly - but, perversely, rather good - French cod-reggae in the shape of "Le Cod", arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

Synthesize
Spaghetti Voodoo
Cabin Cruising
Review: Another round of superb KM Editions edits from the Keyboard Masher - last seen turning out for Resista - and this fourth volume might be the best so far. The work of Todd the God is praised on the languid "Synthesize" with the famous singer's voice woozily sat deep beneath the luxuriant, saturated grove treated with all manner of echo and reverb FX by the Keyboard Masher. Those that know will bask in the subtle yet effective methods employed to transform the source, while those who don't should feel compelled to investigate further. Complementing this "Spaghetti Voodoo" is a moog heavy disco dub delight that contains the best cymbal break from recent memory, while "Cabin Cruising" might just be the best version of "For Your Love" thus far (and there's been plenty mate).

El Halcon Rising
Eastern Promise
La Luz
Review: Super-limited and super cosmic, the Keyboard Masher family reunite for three more galaxy galvantations. "El Halcon Rising" creeps and weeps with Moogy moans, spiralling pads and emphatic choral beef. "Eastern Promise" rolls with more of a wistful swing thanks to snaky hi-hats and a cool filtered guitar loop. Dreamy and deep, drop it at the right time and there won't be a dry eye in sight. Finally we hit "La Luz", all shimmering guitars and soft, subtle kickdrum back bone, it's an instant Balearic gem. Beautiful.
