Review: Back to 1994: Kemet off-shoot 3rd Party dropped this raw jungle four-tracker. Apache & Unknown's Brain Killers take the A with two chest-pressing rave bombs. "Screwface" lives up to its name with surging euphoric chords, slamming amens and melodic percussive riffs while "Jungle Love" takes us back to the roots of the genre with minimal breaks and guttural toasting. Flip for a seminal jungle soul cut from 3rd Party bossman Family Of Intelligence as "Champion Of Champions" really captured and drove that more restrained sound of the dominant ragga stand at the time. "Bonus Beat #1" closes the 12 the same way it did 24 years ago; rattling percussion, a classic vocal sample and a scat breakdown that was tailored for the bravest of DJs. 3rd Party on dudes.

Review: Back to 94! Kemet reissue a seminal slab of breakbeat soul in the form of 'Loving' from Brain Killers and their long-time collaborator Lewi Cifer. Both acts taking the same sample and twisting it in their own way to create two parts, DJ Apache and DJ Unknown's Brain Killers operation goes for more of a party swagger and strong hip-hop and ragga influences while Lewi (who attained the name and reputation of Lewi Screwface due to his previous collabs with the Brain Killers) goes for more of a brutalist drum funk vibe. Still sounding future as hell.

Review: Headhunted once again! Jungle don Chatta B, alongside long-time amigo Potential Bad Boy, delivers more treasures or yore. "2 Night" is classic early Kemet with its big dubby washes, tightly trimmed organs and rubber ball bass while the flip "Here We Go" is just pure bloodclart jungle. Obese reverse-warp bass sounds, wig-blasting drums and a funk that just won't quit. We could chat about Chatta for days mate.

Review: Back on wax by popular demand (this time green), OG producer Chatter B's return to the game enjoys a re-boost and it still sounds every bit as vital; "Smoke Da Weed" has that bubbly Breakage feel that just hums through a system so sweetly. Elsewhere "Jam Hot" hits with a little more Bristol flavour, all minimal and bouncy, while the reggae-topped "Burn Down Da Dance" hits with much chunkier beats and more of a modern D&B feel. That's before we even get to the ravey jam from OG solider Potential Bad Boy. Jump on it or wait two years for another reissue.

Review: Rudeboys unite! Kemet Records has linked with DJ Lewi to bring you a remastered repress of this hugely sought after jungle classic. It's fetched around 600 quid on the second hand market before now so grab this red hot slab that packs a real punch before it's gone again. "After Hours (feat Daddy Freddy)" is a hustling tune with some big MC work and a silky baseline, "You Better Run" is a real face melter with smeared bass and rinsed out breaks while things get hazy on the flipside with "Ganja (feat Angie Angel)", which is built on cavernous bass booms and vocals that pay tribute to the herb.

First released digitally way back in 2016, this joint EP from DJ Shadowplay and Vital Link offers up quartet of floor-pounding peak time anthems rich in unashamedly weighty sub bass, fizzing old school breakbeats and heady samples. The brew is arguably at its most potent on opener "The Box Remix", a raw and powerful revision of a track by fellow Kemet artist Human Being. Review: Since re-launching three years ago, pioneering jungle imprint Kemet has offered up a mixture of unreleased '90s cuts, timely reissues and new tracks inspired by the formative years of drum & bass. This EP from long-serving contemporary producer Julian Flowers AKA Drama1 fits into the latter category, offering up four authentic jungle rollers that recall the Halcyon days of muddy outdoor raves powered by colossal soundsystems. Opener "Dub Fi Dub" is deliciously raw, weighty and loose like the best early jungle cuts, while "Eternity" pairs bombastic Amen breaks with long, elongated sub-bass. "Need For Love" sees Flowers doff a cap to early dreamy D&B tracks (with sun-kissed success), before "Beliefs (Bonus Beat)" closes proceedings with a heady mixture of silly samples, big breakbeats and even bigger sub-bass.

Review: Drama 1 aka Julian Flowers has been releasing on Tottenham label Kemet Records for time. He is one of the mainstays of the second period of activity following the label's rebirth in 2000 and his Point Number EP - which is his second of the year next to his Healing EP - is another masterfully concocted collection of powerful drum & bass with hefty ragga influences. 'We Play Tune' opens with a flurry of old schools drum breaks and 'One In The Chamber' then gets a little more crisp, deadly and dark. His remix of Noise Factory's 'Set Me Free' then comes on strong with a more bittersweet vibe and closer 'Fresh (Breakage)' is all about the peak time power.

"Burn Up" has every element you could need; skippy breaks, ragga chats, soulful diva tones and a sci-fi funk vocal loop. "Dancehall Side" flips the vibe with warm and toasty skanks. Flip for militant drum rolls and laser shots on the gullified "Power VIP" and star-gazing dreamy feels on "Oh So Long". No drama.

Review: Any long time drum & bass fans will be familiar with Kemet given their vital work back in the 90s. This new one from Drama1 could indeed come from that time but is in fact a fresh offering that brings some original amen break business to the floor. A classic vocal samples lights up 'What's Going On' with real soul while 'Lovernetics' gets more down, dark and dirty in its flurry of drums. 'All My Love' teases and pleases with a more fluid and liquid sound from the bendy double bass and stoner synths then closing out the affair is a Drama1 retake of 'Love For The World' that is peak time tackle.

Review: Breaking through on Kemet's Headhunters imprint, emerging junglist Drama1 fires off two big releases this week on Kemet. There's his remixes and revisions on the Champion Jungle Sound EP and this killer second solo 12" of the year; "I Don't Care" will even up the balance on the dancefloor as it shakes with a little R&B sensuality, before "Hot Girls" winds and grinds with serious skank packed heat. Flip for the much darker foundational fire and pummelling breaks of "My Sound" before "Music Sermon" slams down the final hammer with some absurd break edits and tripped out siren textures. Serious jungle business.

Review: The roustabout previously known as dRamatic returns to Kemet with four more authentic jungle bruisers. 'Vanity' sets skank phasers to stun with its sweet and sour chops between sunny-side reggae samples and rambunctious breakbeats. 'Hey Boy' follows suit but with a big diva vocal adding the smooth polish to the roughhouse breaks. Flip for more ruffage as 'It's Like' brings on the big soul swoons over more finely diced and spliced breaks and 'Final Sound' shuts us down with a bubbling, beat-focused groove that wouldn't go amiss in Breakage's current armoury. Savage.

Review: James Grant Stephens was Kemet, a key player in the mid-90s drum & bass scene and someone who knew how to lay down a slaying riddim. His Agony/Nice Time release from 1994 sure is fun with its old school stoner samples, frequent changes of pace and general party vibes. The A-side, 'Agony', features dialogue from the TV show Unexplained Mysteries as well as scintillating breaks and dubwise breakdowns. On the flip, 'Nice Time' is more sweet and heady, with vocals from Scientist's 'Your Teeth in My Neck' stitched into some badman bass and icy percussive lines.

Review: Time for another reissue from the mighty Kemet, one of the sturdiest pillars of the original jungle foundations. Here we find them celebrating the contributions and pure skill of James Stephens' FOI alias with this champion slab from 1994. 'Champion Of Champions' brings a strong sense of triumph before murking you up with the vocal layers and cut-glass edits. Deeper into the EP we hit version central as the other two cuts utilise elements of 'Champions' in different ways; 'Stop Pushing' comes with the big euphoric blasts while the Bonus Dud Plate gives a different twist again. Pure entertainment.

Review: This one's been bubbling for some time now but the wait, as always with this long standing foundation jungle crew, has been worth it as newcomer Drama1 gets the full spotlight. Opening with his mystical touch and savage break chops to the long lost dubplate "The Fruit", he proceeds to dark us out on "Junglist One Blood" before getting his sexy skanks on with "Press The Buzzer" and takes us right back to 92/93 Goodlooking era with "Style" (see what we did there) for a graceful, bone rattling finale. Highly essential.

Review: Big up to Kemet Music for hitting the not-so-insignificant milestone of a 40th EP. As ever, the music is of the highest quality with Sneak taking charge of this fierce four-track 12". 'Kill Sound' has strong ragga vibes with lasers shooting over the face of a classic dusty amen break while mad drum fills flit about the mix. 'Ashes To Ashes' is a lively one with snappy snare rolls and the sort of breaks that will blow up and floor, then 'Good Lord' brings a playful vibe with gun fingers a plenty and a dubby bottom end. Bonus Beat 'The Meantime' is a chaotic collision of sound to close.
