Take Control (original mix)
Take Control (DJs Pareja mix)
Take Control (Danny Daze Wormhole dub)
Take Control (Weval mix)
Review: Whilst it's been some three years since an album from Gui Boratto, the Brazilian has continued to serve up a series of 12"s with the majority of them arriving via regular outlet Kompakt. It's little surprise then to see the storied Cologne institution issue Boratto's latest 12" Take Control with a sole production backed with remixes from artists of a calibre one expects from Kompakt. "Take Control" see Boratto team up with fellow Brazilian duo Come and Hell for a production that's blessed with poppy touches as well as the melodic aspect that's been a hallmark of his work since the Beautiful Life days. Remixes come from Comeme pair DJs Pareja, Danny Daze and Amsterdam newcomers with the effort from Daze the sort of hot wired techno track you could easily envisage his namesake Avery dropping at fabric.

Chymera - "Under The Slip"
Naum Gabo - "Enough Lead To Make It Heavy"
Review: Kompakt's perennial Speicher series continues unabated with some club ready cuts from long standing heavy hitters. Chymera are holding nothing back with the big room dynamics and imaginative content of "Under The Slip", creating a thrilling cut that moves from tense military drum rolls and synths on the brink of a breakdown to a hooky electro bassline and techy propulsion and makes the whole sound totally natural. Scottish duo Naum Gabo meanwhile have a more simmering roll to their "Enough Lead To Make It Heavy", letting the beats play out without a fuss and keeping the extra decoration percolating in the midst of it all.

John Dahlback - "Wet Summer"
Tom Pooks - "Life"
Review: What does the Swede mean with "Wet Summer"? Rainy or sweaty? When you listen to the track you'd rather say the latter. Colourful, varying and in-your-face, almost like Rex the Dog on Ibiza. Late summer hit for everybody. Speaking of Ibiza. Tom Pooks, who surprised us with Speicher 37 with ecstatic neo-acid fireworks, convinces again through and through. With "Life" he proves again that he is currently the master of most compelling trailblazer breaks. Who's sweating twice stays wet for longer...

Maxime Dangles - "Bras De Zil"
Steve Moore - "Bayern Kurve"
Review: A double header from Kompakt Extra, "Speicher 67" lets fly into breathless techno. Frenchman Maxime Dangles's "Bras De Zil" is raw techno that intensifies and then withdraws before Steve Moore takes us in darker, more menacing techno on his "Bayern Kurve." With plenty of energy throughout, this is one not to be missed.

Datenzauber 1.1
Datenzauber 1.2
Review: Kompakt Extra release Datenzauber's latest electronic retro vibes on "Speicher 66". Influenced by a range of music stretching from the 70s to today, his sound is ultra modern but with a clear appreciation of the past. Here, he fuses a rock-like beat with a minimalist disco sentiment to provide a track that sounds fun, fresh and interesting.

Davidovitch - "Insider"

Danny Daze - "Swim" (8:43)
Danny Daze & Translucent - "Machine" (7:23)
Review: Miami's Danny Daze has successfully sustained his career since 2011's breakthrough hit "Your Everything", the pop inflected house anthem which propelled him to stardom overnight. Fast forward to 2016, Speicher 91 for esteemed German imprint Kompakt sees his style develop and mature furthermore particularly on "Swim" a dark journey track whose simplicity and restraint excels marvellously. While on "Machine" things get a bit more ferocious, fusing techno, electro and house impressively with its mix of dark sub-bass, vocoder and rusty vintage drum machines.

Danny Daze - "Freeze"
Danny Daze & Translucent - "Speaker Language"
Review: It's fair to say Mr Danny Daze is enjoying a fine 2014 with this debut on Kompakt's Speicher series arriving in the aftermath of two superb releases for Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic and Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio. There's a sense of prestige that comes with a Speicher release and the two powerful productions from the Miami-based Daze hint he's fully worthy of his placement in the Kompakt extra annals of fame. Lead track "Freeze (Frozen Mix)" sees Daze focus on detail, keeping the drum programming to a minimum so an accompaniment of synth washes, machine noise and muted horns can have full effect. Those wanting something a bit more marauding will be all over the B Side track "Speaker Language" which pairs a powerful snare rattling groove with some treated vocals.

Nick Hoppner - "Ipso Facto"
Auntie Flo - "Sun Ritual"
Review: Kompakt Speicher has always been a diverse 12" outlet for the long running Cologne imprint, happily garnering productions from the likes of Perc, Steve Moore and DJ Koze alongside more familiar Kompakt names such as Superpitcher, Gui Boratto and Wolfgang Voigt. Speicher 72 looks to debutants in the shape of Ostgut Ton label chief Nick Hoppner and Huntleys & Palmers affiliate Auntie Flo and both productions are resolutely heads down affairs. Hoppner leads with "Ipso Facto", a loopy techno cut packed with subtle, moody sonic nuances and gentle builds and drops that's very much a continuation of his recent refined output on Ostgut. Complementing this, Auntie Flo elects to go conceptual with the final part of a trilogy of tracks that explore themes of ritual music, citing Ellen Dissanayake's essay on Ritual and Ritualization as inspiration. You need to check Mule Musiq to hear the other two thirds, but "Sun Ritual" still works as a standalone affair, a heavily percussive production with swirling electronic pulses giving the track an air of fuzzy psychedelia.

Adaptation (6:23)
The Path (5:36)
Review: Italian duo Hunter/Game have released several Eps on Sasha's Last Night On Earth over the last few years. This time they hand in an effort which is quite stomping for a Kompakt release, but we're really digging it. The tough peak time stomp of "Adaptation" is obviously as melodic (in a rather Stephan Bodzin way) and as dreamy as you'd expect, but executed with an underlying fury, fuelled mainly by a tough 125 BPM groove and a dark doom laden bass. This track has serious cross over potential and deserves attention. On the flip we've got "The Path" a wickedly dark journey track that fits into the current status quo with its wonky and buzzing synth leads that just reek of main room dancefloor euphoria in a Life & Death kind of way. Ones to watch!

Push (7:22)
Goodbye (11:03)
Review: Danish artist Kolsch returns on Kompakt Extra following the success of last year's successful single "Grey". Alongside launching his own BBC1 residency, he continued to evolve as a DJ which has led to residencies launching in Cologne and Ibiza. On the A side is "Push" with its powerful string symphonies powered away by shimmering arpeggios, roaring synth leads and thundering snares: this one is absolutely epic. On the flip is "Goodbye", which is a delightfully moody and experimental cut with organ-like synth textures, retro-futuristic bleeps and fragmented alien voices.

Michael Mayer & Reinhard Voight - "Transparenza"
Davidovitch - "Cellophane"
Review: After some needed rest it's time to return with another duet. This time from our favorite Kompakt tag-teamers Michael Mayer & Reinhard Voigt. "Transparenza" is the name of their latest work from our two chief-ravers. The name proclaims the program at hand. "Transparenza" takes on that good old Gallop-techno-beat ala Love Parade in 1993. With some divine wit, they bring it right up to 2006. Call it a bellowing proclamation derived from the ancient times come forth from the mouth of the "Siren Of One Thousand Promises" as it echoes over the Army of the Joyous Warriors, leading them into the blood red Sunset. On the flip, Kompakt Extra welcomes a newcomer, Davidovitch from Lausanne in Switzerland. "Cellophane" is an enticing and fascinating, strange tech-house-beat based track. Remarkably surprising. And why? Amidst that oh so well known chord, techy beat that we all love, he adds intense soundscapes and psychedelic vocal snippets. Yes indeed - what an amazing track.

Oxia - "Not Sure"
Intus - "Intus"
Review: Kompakt Extra presents "Speicher 50" from Oxia and Intus. With "Not Sure" Olivier 'Oxia' Raymond delivers the pivotal 50th hymn. A Speicher Jubilee. On the flip an old friend from Bavaria serenades the 50 Jubilee, under a very fitting project name Intus. There is kicking vodka-techno beats, ingeniously out of tune, and a howling guitar lurching us into the seventh sky of spiritual bliss. Nice.

Fruity Loops 1
Fruity Loops 2
Review: Goodness gracious, it's finally time to go off the deep end. Jurgen Paape is back in the ring with "Speicher 47", on Kompackt Extra Germany. Envision a truck loaded with nuclear waste bouncing down the techno highway, All blockades and roadkill that bar it's way are ravaged through without mercy. Veiled in a voluptuous camo net of harmonious grandeur, it flows with a similar straightforwardness as it's predecessor. But this companion differs, preferring to dwell in the nether regions of the obscurity of clarity that comes in the wee hour, when a dancefloor makes all too much sense. Techno!

Perc - "Headphone Heart"
Tom Pooks & St Thomas - "Remember"
Review: It was literally impossible to get through the past summer without freaking out to Perc & Fractal's 'Up' somewhere, somewhen, somehow. Remember that crazy tune with the endlessly rising peep tone? Sure you do. So it's not a big surprise that the guys from the Rhine invited the mate from the Thames once more. His new track 'Headphone heart' is another monster yet not as hysterical as 'Up' but featuring an amazing flute ensemble instead. We call it hobbit techno! The other a-side (there are no b-sides on Speicher releases, only a-sides) belongs to Monsieur Tom Pooks and his friend St. Thomas who - as far as we know - is not related to Tobias. 'Remember' certainly is Pooks' most subtle work to date. Subtle and sexy as Eva Green. Et voilà! Here's another splendid Speicher release! We kindly ask you to play it loud.

Fantasy (7:23)
Robot (7:24)
Review: Marius Maier aka Re.You lands on Kompakt Extra with the latest chapter of the Speicher series, and after his antics for the likes of Moon Harbour, Mobilee and even Saved Records, we just know we're bound to receive a hard-hitting dosage of swinging tech-house. Two cuts, two sides, two lil' servings of brain dynamite...starting with "Fantasy", a seriously tripping house number featuring some of the oddest melodies the label has seen in a long time, and ending with the cavernous and low-swung beats on "Robot". The kinda goodness that Villalobos churns out on the decks on a weekly basis.
