Review: San Francisco trio 40 Thieves has never been particularly productive, dropping a handful of impressive releases over the course of the last decade. It's something of a pleasant surprise, then, to discover that this long-awaited debut album encompasses an impressive 20 tracks over two discs (or, if you prefer wax, four slabs of vinyl). It's exciting to report, too, that The Sky Is Yours is also rather good. Sitting somewhere between low-slung punk-funk, misty-eyed Balearica, slacker dub-rock, stargazing disco, wonky jazz, stripped Italo and bubbly nu-disco, the 20 tracks bristle with sassy alternative attitude and intoxicating underground flavour. It takes a little time to soak it all in, but it's worth the effort; The Sky Is Yours is full of weird and wonderful highlights.

Review: Previously spotted on the likes of Rong and Permanent Vacation, San Frandisco troupe 40 Thieves celebrate a decade of sonic conjurations with their massive debut album The Sky Is Yours. Bounding across the groove galaxy with such extensive momentum, it takes up two entire albums. Part one is a full sensory overload: Get hypnotised by chugging analogue weaves on "Face Full Of Fur", get massaged by the soft funk guitar strums and graceful piano licks of "In Your Space", go crazy to the punk-funk struts and slurs of "Les Planetes", take one giant leap for dancefloor kind on the peculiar angularities of "Zott Enough"... However you choose to digest this stunning opus, just make sure you leave space for the second helping.

Review: The second part of 40 Thieves massive debut album, it's yet another immaculate adventure as the San Fran collective explore every corner of the dancefloor with silky, cosmic gusto. Highlights across this sophomore set include the contemporary jazz twinkles of "Rhythm Queen", the infectious Floydian psychedelic riffage of "Automagic" and the emotional synth drama and star-gazing dynamics of "Outer Mission". Sometimes the second part of albums this size seem superfluous, but in the case of 40 Thieves, this is just as perfect as the first part. Accomplished, impressive and essential in every

The Sandpiper (Psychemagik remix)
The Sky Is Yours (Cantoma remix)
Review: 40 Thieves long awaited debut album, The Sky Is Yours, was something of an epic; 10 years in the making, it stretched out across two CDs and four slabs of vinyl. Here, two tracks from the album get the remix treatment, with crate diggers-turned-party animals Psychemagik and Phil Mison's Cantoma outfit at the controls. Psychemagik's version of "The Sandpiper" is particularly good, delivering a heady, Arabic-influenced slice of chugging, eyes-wide-shut Balearica that benefits greatly from a rubbery groove and woozy chords. Mison takes a different approach on his rework of "The Sky Is Yours", laying down a version that sounds like T-Coy making late '80s Italian house. It is, all told, the epitome of Balearic house.

The Gift (40 Thieves Disco mix) (6:36)
The Gift (40 Thieves Disco dub) (7:38)
The Gift (40 Thieves beats) (4:26)
Review: After an absence of a few years, 40 Thieves return to Leng Records with one of their most special releases to date: a hook-up with long-time Patrick Adams collaborator Gary Davis and long serving soulstress Cinammon Jones. What's on offer is a re-make of one of Jones' songs, 'The Gift', whose sweet lyrics celebrate the arrival of a new day. 40 Thieves take, explored first in the A-side 'Disco Mix', sounds like it was designed to be danced to during a San Francisco sunrise - think dub disco delays, hypnotic grooves, bubbly electronics, languid guitar licks and gentle melodies. Over on the flip, they take the track further into 'woozy 6am open air dancing territory' on a superb, stretched out 'Disco Dub' mix, before peppering a killer drum track with spaced-out electronics on the 'Beats' version.

Review: After keeping the B-Side of a Claremont 56 seven inch warm, Apiento & Co stretch their legs across the full length of a 12 inch on Leng. "She Walks" is a piano heavy sunrise jam that takes on psychedelic qualities when played at +8 on 33. LSB don Pete Herbert adds a shimmering disco sheen on a remix which is more floor friendly.

Member Talk
Review: Sometimes curious pairings result in the most delightful of music, the much missed Von Sudenfed project from Mark E Smith and Mouse On Mars being one such example. We're not sure exactly where In Flagranti's Sasa Crnobrnja met Clement Cachot-Coulom from the Fabulous Penetrators, we'd like to think at a vintage pornography fair, but their work together as Auf Togo sounds like the most promising of pairings on the basis of Second Left, this debut two track release for the Leng label. There's a melancholic air present in both the lead track and flipside accompaniment "Member Talk" that's vaguely reminiscent at times of 60s West Coast stoner rock and other times the kind currently being peddled (with real success) by Tame Impala but it's channelled brilliantly through a real understanding of the rhythms of disco and filtered with loving saturation.

Waiting For Beggi
Review: First surfacing on Leng late last year, the Auf Togo pairing of Fabulous Penetrators bassist Clement Cachot-Coulom and Sasa Crnobrnja of In Flagranti repute was one of the less expected collaborations. Nonetheless their Second Left 12" was a delight, discarding with the heavily edited smutty disco that Crnobrnja pioneered with In Flagranti in favour of a rich Balearic sound that felt at times like the results of Tame Impala recording after a week camped out in an Amsterdam coffee shop. It's great to see them back on the Leng label with more Auf Togo, with lead track "Old Models" adding some cooing vocals into the mix over a taut, tight and warm Gallic disco groove. On the flip "Waiting For Beggi" retains the upbeat tempo but the mood is hazily Balearic and the bassline sumptuous.

Air Vibes (6:04)
Review: For all his skills as a DJ - and, let's face it, he pretty much created the Afro-cosmic DJ style all on his own - Daniele Baldelli's productions have not always hit the mark. It's heartening to report, then, that this collaboration with Dario Piana for Leng Records is arguably the best thing he's produced to date. "Infinity Machine", where wild, effects-laden Clavinet lines, jammed-out electric piano chords and meandering synthesizer solos ride a particularly druggy arpeggio bassline, sets the tone magnificently, before the Italian duo jogs towards dub disco territory on the percussion rich "If You Drive". Badlelli's love of spacey synths, crunchy guitars and tactile synth bass comes to the fore on closer "Air Vibes", which also boasts a wonderfully tactile breakdown.

Review: Leng Records welcomes cosmic disco legend Daniel Baldelli back to the label a year after his much loved full length with Marco Fratty. This time out he serves up Alloteva, a first joint release with Marco Diongi for the label. Baldelli always manages to show a different look with each and every release and this one is no different - it offers big, cowbell laced cosmic disco with plenty of loose limbed drums and throbbing synths. 'Alloteva' opens up with a patter of toms and congas and squelchy bass, then 'Deflector' sinks deep and low, with seductive pads and balmy sunset sax lines. There are playful funk riffs underpinning 'Sonora' and leggy kicks and snappy hits making 'Time Is Plastic' a real chugger.

Cosmic disco legend Daniele Baldelli is enjoying recognition these days like never before, and now he's back alongside Marco Fratty with his first album in five years. As you would expect from something with Baldelli's magic touch, there's a warm '70s flavour to the music on offer here, but it's also rendered in pristine modern production quality. Particular highlights across this two disc set include the sweet flute-riffing of "Jasmine Flavour" and the freaky vocoder trip outs of "Slinky Funk", but truthfully the bar remains high throughout this impeccably executed slice of spaced-out disco business.

Review: Slippery synth disco abounds as Grecian newcomers Thanasis Skouzis and George Fountzoulas develop their Bonnie & Klein brand on Leng. "Singularity" is straight out of the late 80s play book thanks to its array of flutes and wind elements. "Ergosphere", meanwhile, is a much slower affair with a drone-like dynamic that builds more and more momentum as more elements are introduced into the mix. Truly hypnotic.

Review: A typically sumptuous ten inch presented by the Leng crew, serving as the first of several vinyl shaped addendums to the label's recently released double CD of remixes of tracks from Out Of Town, the rather fine album from Phil Mison under his Cantoma moniker. Such was the standard of remixers involved, it's a good thing Leng will be releasing several more of these samplers to appease the vinyl-only crew. The inaugural ten sees Max Essa do his thang to "North Shore" on the A Side, all finely judged contemporary disco rhythms and deep layers of instrumental warmth. It's complemented by a delightful revision of "Dix Vertes" by Coleen "Cosmodelica" Murphy which presents the track as blissful Balearic dub reggae.

Gambarra (Lexx remix)
Review: The second release from the Claremont 56 stable this week is further proof that Mudd & Co seemingly reside in a place where the sun always shines. On this Leng twelve inch, Ray Mang and Lexx have been enlisted to add some aural Vitamin D to the DNA of two tracks from Cantoma's album Out Of Town. Mang's version of "Under The Stars" is a world away from his visceral pumping work on the recent Glimmers album, opting to retain the feel and pace of the source, imbuing the bass with several degrees of added warmth and adding an ethereal quality to the vocal harmonies that flourish in the depths of the mix. On the flip Bear Funk affiliate Lexx tackles "Gambarra", stripping back the cosmic oscillations of the original to focus on the harmonious partnership between Marcelo Andrade's vocals and the lilting guitar melodies over a percussive groove which throbs but never dominates.

Review: Cantoma is of course the solo project of Balearic stalwart Phil Mison and his second album under the name, Out Of Town, was originally released on Leng back in 2010. At the time Out Of Town came only in CD and Digital formats and after some four years of public pressing, Leng have elected to grant the album the format it truly deserves with this sumptuous double vinyl pressing. Mison fans will of course be more than familiar with the supple, languid groove maintained throughout the album, with age seemingly treating Out Of Town all the better.

Review: Claremont 56 & Leng label boss Paul "Mudd" Murphy has assembled an impressive cast for this remixed version of Phil Mison's decidedly downtempo - sorry, Balearic - Out Of Town LP. Murphy himself offers up a pleasingly languid take on "Paloma", before handing over the reigns to a succession of similarly minded pals. There's a delicious Balearic dub of "Des Vertes" from Cosmodelica, a sprightly nu-disco rub of "Gambarra" from regular Mison cohort Pete Herbert, a delightfully Scandolearic excursion from Blackbelt Andersen and floor-friendly takes from the Idjuts and Ray Mang. Best of all, though, is Tiago's druggy, synth-heavy version of "Visusu", which sounds like a vivid dream involving Quiet Village and a carload of acid-fried evangelists.

Review: Earthboogie - aka London soundsystem owners Izaak Gray and Nicola Robinson - make their wax debut with three raw, groove laden disco blends. Digging deep into both afrofunk and Italo roots, there's a universal musical language that grabs you physically across all three cuts. "Mr Mystery" sits between Booker T & The Mgs and Daniele Baldelli while "Route Ten To Interzone" is an energetic township jam with added synth sheen. Finally we're seduced by the Balearic weaves, ripples, twangs and horns of "The EB Theme". A rainbow of vibes from start to finish, this one's hard to put down.

Review: Andrew Meecham is one of the most widely respected figures in the Births underground music. He is a synth wizard who never repeats himself but has always managed to maintain a wigged out, psychedelic sound coughed in disco but with hints of acid, house and synth. This frankly bloody brilliant new single is another one packed with colour, tooting arps, cosmic rays, chugging bass and lush textures that is so vibrant and vivid you want to bath in it. Both an extended vocal mix and instrumental are included and both are faultless.

Review: Andrew 'Emperor Machine' Meecham and French vocalist Severine Moultin enjoyed working on their first collaborative single, 2021's 'Dance Par Amour', so last year reunited in the studio to record a follow-up. 'Your Own Style' follows a similar sonic template, with Mouletin singing in accented English atop a typically analogue-heavy Meecham backing track laden with bubbly bass, delay-laden electric piano motifs, layered percussion and the producer's trademark synth squiggles (a feature of his work since the days he was working with Dean Meredith as Chicken Lips). The song is presented in three variations: the stretched-out and pleasingly loose 'Alternative Mix'; the sparse, effects-laden and mid-80s influenced 'Dub Vocal'; and the warmer, subtly funkier 'Fun Dub'.

It comes as two versions on this new 12", with the extended vocal going fist. It's a steamy and tropical bit of disco with feathery, whispered and seductive French language vocals over squelchy synth bass and hip swinging claps. Cosmic twinges finish it in style and on the flip side it gets a little more wild and tropical. An eco-system of synth daubs and neon colours bring the groove to life in a more interplanetary way.

Review: Former Silver City man Fernando Pulichino seems to be mellowing with age. Having previously explored punk-funk, nu-disco and deep house on his solo releases, he's now switched his focus to dub-influenced, slo-mo Balearic synth-rock. Many of the old trademarks are still present - think rubbery live bass, fluorescent, vintage-sounding synths and unfussy beats - but are here joined by fuzzy guitar solos and an evocative vocal from guest star Fiorucci. It's a potent blend, reminiscent of early '80s cosmic rock with a little more nu-disco nous. The original vocal version is joined by a delicious Extended Dub, which impressively stretches out the infectious, head-nodding groove.

He is charged with tackling Harks & Mudd's 'Susta' and turns out two versions. His opening remix is all grown up Balearic sounds. Gentle percussion is scattered over the leggy house drums, noodling Rhodes chords bring colour and a breathy female vocal layers in the sun kissed soul. It's an immediate classic. Egzotik, his long awaited debut album, seems to have a fair few stories to tell. Smothered in evocative field recordings made around his home city of Istanbul, the album is notable for fusing exotic Persian instrumentation with grooves and sounds more readily associated with cosmic disco, krautrock, dub, Balearica and Detroit beatdown. On paper, it's an unusual combination that should sound forced or contrived. In reality, it's a brilliant example of an artist with a singular artistic vision achieving his goals. Put it this way: it's amongst the most inspired and enjoyable debut albums we've heard this year.

"Frontier" is a real sunlight-breaking-through-the-clouds track with its crisp guitar strums cutting through the heaviest of clouds, toeing a line of sedate-but-strong instrumentation behind it. It was inspired by his first few trips to the White Isle of Ibiza, and specifically the unlikely set of circumstances that led to him filling in for the legendary Jose Padilla at the Cafe Del Mar. Musically, the track list is reflective of the story, joining the dots between impossible-to-find rarities (see the loved-up jazz-rock of "Jelly" by the Cactus Rose Project and the life-affirming fusion business of Christoph Spendel Group's "Forever"), huggable Balearic synth-pop, flamenco-inspired sunset gems and a smattering of head-in-the-clouds Italian dream house gems. Given Mison's heritage and status within the Balearic scene, it's little surprise to find that Out of the Blue is utterly brilliant.

Review: Out Of The Blue, Phil Mison's first compilation for some time, was apparently inspired by his first few trips to the White Isle of Ibiza, and specifically the unlikely set of circumstances that led to him filling in for Jose Padilla at Cafe Del Mar. Musically, it's reflective of the story, joining the dots between impossible-to-find rarities (see the loved-up instrumental jazz-rock of "Jelly" by The Cactus Rose Project and the life-affirming fusion business of Christoph Spendel Group's "Forever", for starters), huggable Balearic synth-pop, flamenco-inspired sunset gems, and a smattering of head-in-the-clouds Italian dream house killers. Given Mison's heritage and status as one of Balearica's top selectors, it's perhaps unsurprising that Out Of The Blue is undeniably brilliant.

Sunset Ballad (9:34)
Review: Giri & Lentano's Mushroom Project returns to its spiritual home Leng after myriad mystical excursions on labels such as Uber, Horn Wax and Hell Yeah... And it seems they're packing a follow up to their perennial debut Undergrass. If these two tracks are anything to go by, we're in for a treat; "Dirty Bolas" is a dense, percussion-heavy trip with zooming synth lines and a lolloping bassline that refuses to quit. "Sunset Ballad" lives up to its name in every shimmering, guitar-twanging way. Golden.

Review: Cole Odin debuted on Leng in 2020 when he served up the super 'Numbers Game' tune as part of the label's 10th anniversary compilation. He now makes a welcome return, this time with the go-slow king that is Eddie C. Between them they cook up a perfectly low-slung tune in 'Little Boxes.' It has effects-laden guitars and kaleidoscopic electronics that lock you into a chugging yet cosmic groove and take you on a real trip to the stars. On the flip is an epic 10 minute-plus version from 40 Thieves that really ups the starry eyed vibes and expansive chords.

'Billion Days' hears Kate loll through a resolute vocal line, as its production opens up an ever-expansive beach-bound vista, whether by sequenced steel pans or synths. I Feel You (Mudd instrumental remix) (6:50)
Review: Payfone's track record to date is exceptional, with the duo delivering some of their most impressive work on Paul 'Mudd' Murphy and Simon Purnell's label, Leng. 'I Feel You', which sees them reunite with vocalist and songwriter Kyd Neirida (who is depicted on the cover and previously featured on 2022 single 'Put Your Face Away'), is another strong offering. Their original mix is impeccable - a slow-motion shuffler in which Neirida's expressive, emotional vocals rise above a rubbery synth bassline, metronomic beats and flashes of effects-laden guitar. Murphy dons his Mudd alias to deliver vocal and instrumental takes that expand the sound further - he is a master of slow-motion Balearic disco after all - with guest musician Michele Chiavarini adding the crowning touch via some gorgeous, life-affirming piano solos.

Review: Following Magik Cyrkles and Magik Sunrise, Psychemagik start their concluding mix series trilogy with the first part of Magik Sunset. A sumptuous compendium of painstakingly dug and licenced oddities and rarities, each one sandy-toed and languishing in clear blue cosmic sonic seas, the whole journey guarantees sounds that have previously been the sole preserve of private presses or highly limited runs. Two of the many highlights include the Donovon-esque lollops of Nathan Perkins Band's "Soul Keepers" and the planet-leaping disco abandon of Al Dos Band's "Doing Our Thing With Pride". Review: Following the runaway success of their Magick Cyrcles and Magick Sunrise compilations, Psychemagik return with another selection of wilfully obscure Balearic gems. There's a subtly breezy, occasionally humid feel to much of the material this time round, with the acclaimed crate diggers' selections flitting between stoned blue-eyed soul, baked west coast rock, curious, semi-spoken word pieces, and the kind of material that suggests getting horizontal as a matter of priority. It goes without saying, of course, that the selections are thrillingly deep, with a tracklist that will have even the most committed record collectors scratching their heads.

Anyone whose familiar with their output since their emergence from The Cosmic Forest in 2009 will not be surprised given the off the beaten track source material for much of their edits. This Leng released compilation veers through all manner of psychedelic funk, cosmodisco, Middle Eastern oddities and much more, with four excusive new edits from the Psychemagik duo themselves. Those with dusty fingers and a penchant for the odder forgotten gems will no doubt be entranced as soon as Intrinsic Trance's opener commences and the label have really surpassed themselves in the presentation stakes with some apt cover art from acclaimed designer Luke Insect adorning this double CD release.

Review: The Magic Forest dwelling record collectors better known as Psychemagik return to Claremont56 offshoot Leng with a new compilation Magik Sunrise which is essentially a vinyl shaped sequel to last year's well received Magik Cyrkles. Though equally well presented as that compilation, Psychemagik refreshingly adopt a different sonic direction here, trading in the obscure Balearica and funk in favour of a wonderfully enlightening blend of African reggae, jazz-funk, prog rock, folk and New Age curios. Think David Holmes classic Essential Mix then crank up the weird factor to eleven and you'll have a good idea of what to expect from this fifteen track selection. The sensual twilight boogie of "The Juggler" by Fox is a particular highlight.

Review: Last year's Magic Cyrcles, Psychemagik's willy-waving exercise in psychedelic disco and rock crate digging, was something of a triumph. It's little surprise, then, that this follow-up is every bit as essential. If anything, the selections are even more obscure, while the vibe is slightly more Balearic - whilst, of course, retaining the acid-fried oddness of its predecessor. Highlights are naturally plentiful, from the woozy synths and wide-eyed, feelgood grooves of Fox's "The Juggler", and Steve and Theresa's folksy "Catching A Wave", to the horizontal pop of former porn acrtress Susana Estrada, and Joey Newman's Roxy Music-ish "The One You Love". Recommended.

They've already proved this beyond doubt via a trio of brilliant Magik compilations for Paul Murphy and Simon Purnell's Leng label. Magik Sunset Part 2 continues this run, gathering together another double-album's worth of fantastic obscurities from the worlds of stoner disco, left-of-centre rock, psychedelia and Balearica. As usual, there are some genuine "how did I not know about this record" moments, from the star-kissed Balearic jazz of Fabio Fabor and saucer-eyed white boy reggae-rock of the Trepidants, to the Flamenco-tinged AOR disco shuffle of Jack Adkins' "Sunset Beach".

Here comes the first sampler, all part of Leng Records' 10th Anniversary celebrations. It marks the cultured label's 50th release and precedes a special compilation of overlooked favourites, classics and unreleased material. This one is well worth your attention though, beforehand. Phenomenal Handclap Band founder Quinn Luke with his longtime pal Alexis Georgopoulos combine as Q&A for the first two tracks, with Lex providing the third and fourth, all proving to be seductive, slow motion Balearic groovers for grown up movers. Q&A's 'Pulse' is a future groove, Lex's 'Max Pen' is a cheery number with lush squelchy bass and skyward chords, while the latter's closing offering 'GP Score' brings a little more energy.

Only savouring the first takes, when the ideas are still fresh and rough and exciting, this is the result; a fuzzy, free-spirited, collection of psychedelic jams that meander and stroll unhurried and unlimited from the Amazonian synth pads of "The Path Of Tranquility" to the luscious swoons of "Long Slide". Let's hope there are plenty more to come.

Review: Leng Records' 59th release is something a little different: a very personal collection of largely obscure and hard-to-find gems, mostly created by European pop producers in the late '70s and early '80s, from artist and record collector Paul Beckett. Firmly Balearic and sun-soaked in tone, there's plenty to set the pulse racing throughout. For proof, first check Ray & John's 'Day By Day (Instrumental), which sounds like Please-era Pet Shop Boys reclining at a pool party in Rimini, before admiring the space rock/synth-pop fusion of 'Angelo' by Angel'o. Over on the flip, Beckett offers up three more slices of glassy-eyed goodness, with the loved-up deep synth pop of Angel and the fretless bass-sporting wooziness of Eggs Time standing out.

Review: Whilst it's not advisable to make any brash predictions about the genre delving of Claremont 56 and Leng given the brilliant variety of their output, this latest twelve on the latter label is perhaps a deviation towards the more rhythmic end of the electronic spectrum. And who better to provide it than Dean Meredith, whose standing in UK house predates both of the last two old school revivals. You may have enjoyed his recent Rhythm Odyssey excursions on Lip Service, and Love Potion presents more of the same electronic dub house filled with raw analogue business. The title track sets the scene with punchy kick drums and gloopy acid basslines the foundation for some energetic stabs and tear jerking chord washes. Complementing this is Drum Potion, a DJ tool which allows Meredith to demonstrate his panache at crafting cascading drum rhythms, something which is explored with equal aplomb on the B Side bump of "See In The Light".

Review: Patrizio Cavaliere doesn't release music as often as we'd like. But when he does, it's a serious piece of work... "Tiny Islands" is a dense piece of psychedelic-tinged, Italo-referenced, cosmically charmed disco that's reminiscent of the likes of Daniele Baldelli, Silver City and Bottin. Funky but star-gazing, weighted but floaty, it ticks all the right boogie boxes. As does Ray Mang's remix; a little chunkier in the drum department, a little fatter in the bass department, it's a respectful re-touch that refuses to trounce on the soul of the original.

Review: Sadeira - a trio made up of members based in both Brooklyn and Brazil - previously impressed with a handful of high-grade releases on Let's Play House. Now they've transferred to London-based Leng to showcase their latest colourful, cross-cultural musical fusions. Lead cut 'Luzes Ca Didade' is undeniably brilliant: a swelteringly humid slab of samba-nu disco brilliance rich in fluttering flutes, layered Brazilian percussion, squelchy synth bass, glistening guitars and life-affirming bi-lingual vocals. It's backed with two tidy reworks - a flute-heavy instrumental take, and the band's own sweaty, percussive, and sub0heavy broken house revision, which drags the track further towards peak-time dancefloors. The EP's final track is fab, too: a synth-heavy, early '80s influenced dub reggae rework of previous single 'Deixa Tudo Fluir' that may well be the EP's standout moment.

Review: Takovou stakes his claim to a wider audience with 'Perfect Match', a wonky four-tracker with a sense of depth and slow unfurling that is hardly achievable by most artists (presumably, they'd lose their patience). Dreamy movers like 'Homesickness' and 'Bubbles' are at once light and deep, perhaps reflecting the airy and unburdened headspace of this obscure Russian artist, who now resides in Tbilisi. A curveball also comes in the form of 'Another The Same', which more recalls Four Tet than the prior, less dense ambient works heard before.

The Source (Mudd's Slow Rave mix)
Review: Claremont 56 offshoot Leng becomes the latest illustrious label to be graced by the considered production excellence of Portugal's finest, Tiago. And gosh darn it if the producer hasn't delivered his finest solo work to date in the sprawling gothic disco of "The Source". A guttural acid gurgle and steady percussive throb are the constants on a track that soars through a multiplicity of heavily delayed and truly spellbinding effects. It's the gloriously fuzzy organ refrain that takes over as the track approaches the run out groove that marks the ascension of "The Source" into must-have material. Adding a further gloss of greatness is the accompanying Slow Rave Mix from Claremont/Leng overseer Mudd which brilliantly swamps the acid undertones in a thick viscous bottom end, adding some weight to the bass and introducing a superbly wigged out electro synth line which gets increasingly jagged as the remix progresses.
