Review: Self-styled "French house producer, disco cutter and horse" Chevals makes his bow on Masterworks Music following well-regarded outings on Whiskey Disco, Kolour Ltd and Editorial. To start with, he charges straight towards peak-time dancefloors via the bouncy, gospel-powered disco-house pump of "My Feet Keep Changin'", before reaching for the jaunty horns and sparkling synthesizers on a rolling house-style revision of a mid 1980s cut. "Never Will I Leave You Baby" is a hybrid re-edit/remix of an '80s soul sing-along rich in smooth chords and bubbly nu-disco bass, while closing cut "Love Somebody" wraps purple-tinted synthesizer lines and P-funk electronics around a bumping house beat. It is, like much of the rest of the EP, insatiable.

Review: Vinyl only, limited numbers: Masterworks launch a brand new 10" series, and they're doing it in style as rising French disco doyen Closed Paradise lays down two powerful sample-based grooves. "Your Love I'm Gonna Take" slaps with a sleazy bassline, rushing sound FX and textures and teasing snippets of the original source vocal. "The Vision" takes a loopier twist with a pristine guitar line that opens out with every 16 to reveal more and more. Soulful, timeless and stupendously funky. Grab it while you can.

Review: The latest artist to deliver a volume in digital download specialists Masterworks Music's occasional "Master Series" of vinyl EPs is Dirtytwo, a Scandinavian duo best-known for their releases on Local k and Razor 'N' Tape Reserve. A-side "Consensual" is a genuinely deep and immersive affair driven forwards by echoing electric piano stabs, hissing ride cymbals and addictive bass, all topped off by glassy-eyed vocal samples of what sounds like Motown legend Marvin Gaye. Flipside "Get Down & Get With It" is an altogether sweatier and sleazier affair, closer in tone to the pair's various loved-up and peak-time-ready singles on Local Talk. It's rather good, though we still prefer the tactile and huggable A-side.

Review: Perth legend Dr Packer is back with more boogie-down edit action from the disco inferno on "Waves Of Funk". It's definitely summer in the city on the super fly "Cozmic Funk" with its catchy vocals, captivating string arrangement and Stevie Wonder style bassline followed by the familiar groove and stomp of "Funk Of The Future". On the flip, we're loving "Skin Title Funk", which gets deep, down and dirty with a sleazy guitar solo leading this neon-lit arrangement directly into the stratosphere. Review: Masterworks Music mastermind 80's Child unleashes the third volume of his Masterworks compilations. This is a two-part vinyl release with the first part featuring The Funk District hailing from Cancun, who kicks off the A side with "The Funky Joint". He gets a good ol' time shuffle going before handing it over to Parisian Oldchap for a proper low-slung boogie in the form of "To The Top". On the flip, Godfather of the western Australian dance scene Dr. Packer gets down with a wicked edit on the late night sexiness of "Your Big Chance" and fellow Mexican Hotmood goes out on a high note with smokin' hot vocal number "Raw Dance".

Review: This EP from Miami-based producer His Dirty Secrets is undoubtedly one of the strongest EPs to appear on Masterworks Music yet. Opener "Floatin" is a warm and woozy affair, with the Floridian studio combining his own slick beats and rich musicality with excerpts from a wavy, jazz-funk original. "Fantom (African Woman)" sees him doffing a cap to Fela Kuti while sticking with the laidback, deep house/Balearic disco fusion vibe, while "All The Way" is the kind of soaring, string-drenched, filter-heavy disco outing that should get dancers sweating out on the floor. He rounds things off with the loose and bumpy "Prelude", which includes some killer vocal samples and cut-up excerpts from a very famous disco classic.

Having climbed the ranks of modern disco producers with consistent releases for the likes of Hot Digits, Special Edition and Spa In Disco, he returns to Masterworks with his fourth outing on the label. With a whopping four tracks to pick from, the Bristol based producer serves up the lo-slung '70s sleaze of "Dynamite" and the slo-mo funk loops of "The Journey" on the A side. On the flip, the deep and neon-lit nu-disco goodness of "You Don't Have To" is perfect for the late night and the EP's real highlight. As the label state best themselves, it is 'capable of tickling any punters boogie feather.'

On this fourth instalment is some 'cracking' tackle for any modern disco head... sure to blaze up the night!' courtesy of Obas Nenor. The Tel Aviv based producer has appeared previously on Defected, Heist Recordings Strictly Rhythm, Mahogany Music and his own label, Nenorian. Now unleashing his 'weirdo disco' style where he packs his studio creations within a tidy, 10" format on a double-header with "Candies" on the A-side: which is a cheeky little boogie down jam on the deeper tip. Has more cowbells and vocoders than you can shake a Telex record at. Holding down the B-side is the well funky "Stay" with its chunky Moog bassline leading a tight, sun-kissed groove that will be sure to get any serious Disco Stu working up a sweat on the dancefloor in no time.

Review: At long last! The 15-strong collection of nu-disco, boogie, cosmic and deep originals and edits landed digitally last November. Finally the vinyl's arrived with four of the many highlights all pressed to vinyl and sounding all the richer for it. Highlights among these highlights include the dubby rumbles of Saine's "You Can Count On Me", the velvet funk chugs of "Singapore Sling", the undeniable Cathy Denisisms of Robjamweb's "You Know How" and the soft focus mid tempo synth sleaze of "Chief Inspector".

Review: Danny Worrall goes by the name of 80s Child, and it's kind of apt given his label's persistent use of disco-house thrills that have something subtly italo-leaning about them. The Masterworks Series is the third instalment, and it comes as a nice pre-xmas treat courtesy of the Masterworks Music imprint. Disco deviant The Silver Rider is on the case a two-part stunner: "Another Day" is a mid-tempo, house-not-house charmer that rolls its delightful groove over a bed of jazzy nuances and percussive muscle, whereas "Eazy Breezy" heads further down the house trail thanks to a dusty 4/4 rhythm, and a glorious succession of playful harmonic that are tailor-made for the opening sets.

Review: Belgian producer UC Beatz lands on Masterworks with two impeccable deep house cuts that nod to the sterling reputation he enjoys within the scene. "Mojoy" is a simmering jam with that raw 'in the room' flavour you'd expect from Moodymann, a sweet vocal sample and a rhythm section that teases as much as it moves. When the chords drop, it's sure to sway the crowd without losing the intimacy set up in the track's earlier moments. "Exotic Fruitz" has a similar production style, and that background bar chatter is back again to fill the space with a cosy atmosphere, but here the keys are more forthright and vibing in the direction of sunnier climes.

Review: Since the dawn of the decade, Valentin "Valique" Golvachev has served up a wealth of top-selling re-works via the digital-only "V's Edits" series. Here he makes his belated return to vinyl via a four-track re-edits outing on Danny "80s Child" Worrall's Masterworks Music imprint. Predictably, the Russian scalpel fiend hits the ground running with the low-slung, late night disco-funk sleaziness of "It's Hot (Heavy Boogie edit)", before whipping off his shirt and charging towards peak-time disco territory via the rubbery grooves and soaring orchestration of "Think About It (Not Too Long Edit)". Over on the flip, "One Chain (Make No Prison Edit)" is a chugging, arpeggio-driven chunk of San Francisco electronic disco perfection, while "Love Hypnotizing' (Wanna Be Free Edit)" adds a little chunky house flavour to a heartfelt disco-soul number.

Now he serves up his new offering, entitled Deeper Than Love which features some truly tasty edits. The classic vibe of "Be With You" will be familiar to some in all its dazzling '70s style glory: you know the name of this one right? There's Rhodes galore of the deep and hypnotic late night jam "I Love You" which again is spliced to perfection. On the flip, witness those amazing synth riffs beneath that epic filter sweep action on "Love So Fine" which is absolutely looped for pleasure. Finishing up these respectful edits is one more ergonomic disco tool (for DJ use only) on the feelgood and funky "Whenever You're Around".
