Review: The tenth record released under Non White, a subsidiary of Spanish techno label Non Series, AIKEN's 12" EP features techno-rave hallmarks that will get feet moving on even the stickiest floor. Rhythmic synth and pounding drums work in tandem beautifully to make you feel like you're really there right in front of those deafening live speaker systems. A truly authentic cut that is just as referential to the 90s New York techno scene as it is a reflection of the growing rave scene in Valencia and Monegros. AIKEN's latest work is yet another reason why Non Series should be on your radar, and in your collection.

Love Drums Massacre (5:18)
Bad-Tempered Drumming (5:46)
Camaradas (5:42)
Review: Architectural (Juan Rico) is blazing a trail in the world of techno now for over two decades now. The productive producer (also known as Reeko) has managed to keep the quality high while releasing quite a bit of material. With over 40 releases to his credit, the Love Drums Massacre shows us he still has much more to give. The title track is a spooky tribal workout that reminds us of classic material by Kenneth Graham or David Alvarado. We really enjoy the primitive and caveman-like feel of these slow-burners. Camaradas is a sick loop! For the Spanish label Non Series, this is number 59 in their consistently great catalogue. Wicked EP!

Relief (5:15)
In A Shade (5:32)
Searching (6:47)
Review: The latest instalment in Non Series limited-edition 'White' offshoot delivers a label debut from Biri, a long-serving but still little-known Israeli producer who recently shared vinyl space with the much more high profile Truncate. The EP-opening title track is wonderfully creepy, with echoing, music box style melodies dancing atop ghostly chords and a thickset techno beat, while 'Relief' is a darker, more percussive beast full of pots-and-pans drum hits and twisted electronic riffs. The Jerusalem-based producer goes deeper on the driving, trance-tinged fluidity of 'In a Shade', before opting for more jacking drums and some exceptionally creepy minor-key melodies on closing cut 'Searching'.

Review: Non Series welcomes Biri and Yogg who have paired off here for the first time ever on a superb six track collaborative EP. These are high impact cuts of body-slamming techno with deep synths and sleek rhythms. 'Always Silver, Never Gold' kicks off with a warped and elastic underwater rhythm packed with atmosphere while 'Bees Crave' ups the ante with heady and rusty loops. 'Spill The Mill' is a murky and grubby dubbed out roller while 'Crawler' looks into a train track like groove. 'Mea K7' closes with a more heady and celestial vibe.

Detrimental (4:06)
Summer (4:24)
2020 (4:04)
Nofilt (5:23)
Review: The latest release on Psyk's label is a heads-down affair from Italian producer Chevel. In its most extreme form, this takes the form of "2020", where high-pitched squeals and shrieks are set to a tough, pacey rhythm. However, the more rewarding tracks see Chevel explore a more subtle approach. "Noflit" is based on contrasts with a combination of a rubbery bass and tough, distorted drums. "Summer" just as understated with a mysterious synth line cloaking the arrangement's percussive slivers. However, Chevel also understands the demands of the dance floor and "Detrimental", with its blip, bleeps and tough beats is sure to cause mayhem whenever it's dropped.

The Denier (5:50)
Review: Distant Echoes's 'Lopsidedness' is a second solo entry into this non series and once again he shows how he has mastered the art of techno hypnosis. 'Modus Operandi' is a fat dub cut with drums buried deep but quick to make their mark as synths fizz and ripe across the surface of the menacing groove. 'Parallel Binary' is another dub cut with an implicit sense of tension that keeps you on edge while 'Weird Attractions' begins to play tricks on your mind with its freaky sound designs and distant bell hits. 'Moving Trees' is another wonky one for the afters before 'The Denier' gets back to warm future dub scapes.

Vileness IV (6:15)
Review: The White series hits number four with an EP from the mysterious artist or artists that is or are Judas. It's a serious affair from the off with the sort of high pressure techno that is designed to submerge you in sound. "Vileness I" is an underwater affair with waves of synth washing her you, while "Vileness II" also layers up shifting synth currents. "Vileness III" brings a hypnotic sense of minimalistic melody to the fore then "Vileness IV" closes out with flashes of static and dark, deep bass. This is all consuming, striped back but warm and effective techno.

Review: NON are one of two labels with the same name releasing absolutely unbelievable music on an international scale; this one focuses largely on industrial techno, and is newly hot for its fresh white labels series. Lakej joins in on the action for 'Exposed Vulnerability', a six-track EP that draws on the maximized Birmingham sound and comes with a muddy twist. Rather like scouring the well-wrought and swampy depths of an industrial waste disposal unit the size of a power plant, 'Natural Inertia' and 'Mutual Arising' are the alarmy, inhuman highlights.

Lost
Review: When it comes to stabbed-up, drum machine sequenced techno, Psyk is a go to producer. The producer's Maan alias is Manuel Anos' stripped-back take on his dub-tailored style of club music which is less brooding than the Spaniard's other productions. It's also Maan which defines the Non Series sound, which on this EP is best heard via the staccato-driven, cowbell filled "Burn". For a deep rhythm track there's "Jackin (Part 2)" - something you'd imagine Steffi playing to beef up the vibes in Pbar - while "Lost" loops a vocal like Robert Hood would as Floorplan.

Ginga (5:17)
Naeba (5:38)
Djagurd (5:56)
Dongmak (5:02)
Review: Four tracks from Neel, the Italian producer, AV show specialist and regular collaborator with Donato Dozzy - the pair run the Spazio Disponibile label together. While it might be blindingly obvious from its title which particular piece of Roland musical hardware is at its heart, what's a little more unexpected is the sheer versatility and variety the 808 is capable of, as showcased by these productions. 'Ginga' is a panther of a track, stalking you with understated stealth until suddenly it hits attack mode. 'Naeba' has a touch of the Jeff Mills Purpose Maker about it, one of those monstrous metallo-disco tracks that seems to be on loop until closer listening reveals its myriad of constantly shifting parts. 'Djagurd' boasts the biggest four-to-the-floor punch of all four and 'Dongmak' is fairly sturdy too, but with layers and layers of evolving percussion gently coaxing it along, it's nothing if not subtle.

It's straight-up and proper techno across all sides of the new Binary Function EP: from the deep space transmissions of opening cut 'Prisma' to the droning and cerebral Sound Of Rome aesthetic of the title track, while the entrancing tribal polyrhythms of B side offering 'Arc' offers up more heady tackle until the frantic strobe light motion of 'Repetitions' closes it out 6AM style - tip!

Velvet Lips (Steve Bicknell remix) (7:41)
Review: Madridillian techno hero Manuel Amos aka Psyk presents a series of reworks of Pris' Flagrant Foul' EP on his NON Series imprint, which was originally released a couple of years ago. He has tapped some top names in the techno scene for this one: from Roman producer Hoedus (Anekoic Records) and his mesmemersing and utterly euphoric rework of 'Submit", while Semantica chief Svreca's mentalist perspective of "Leech" is also featured on the A side. On the flip, Natch Records boss Ruhig gets some entrancing polyrhythms into effect on his impressive version of the title track, and closing out the package is the legend Steve Bicknell (Cosmic) delving further into the aether on his moody exploration of "Velvet Lips".

Review: Minimal techno legend Psyk strips things 'Back To Basics' on this new EP, carefully revisiting his penchant for highly cross-rhythmic trance states in musical form. Like floating on a psychic backwash of pressurized trance - like a rave held on the inside of a zeppelin - 'Bite Back', 'Out Of Sight' and 'Down' blend deep beds of gusty wind sounds with light kicks and metrically dubious melodies.

Review: Psyk and Orbe are on a releasing roll, this being the next EP in a new saga by the duo. 'Tagma Sessions' hears the ultra-suffocating techno pair drop a deafening four new tracks, displaying their penchant for hardware-centrism and oppressive sonic environments. 'Liquid Drop' hears acid flagellations and oozings burst from between the hits, while 'Tagma' recalls the scraping textures of Regis' later work. 'Untitled' is the favourite - a machinic scourer that sounds much like a lone drone traversing the wastes in search of organic dissenters.

Review: Spaniard Tadeo has made a name for himself over the last decade as a strong purveyor of minimal/cyclical techno. After all: he is the man behind Cyclical Trax. Naturally, he was also one of the first producers to plunder the vaults of Jeff Mills' Axis and Purposemaker imprints, spurring on this newly invigorated tribute sound that is so popular of late. Tadeo does a damn fine job of it on this conceptual album, which just like The Wizard himself, takes its cues from classic futurist and sci-fi themes. It's all good on here, but we personally pick the majestic and beatless bleep-fest of "The Cyborg: The Man Merges With The Technology (Development Option #1)" (get used to it; all the track titles are more elaborate than on a Giorgio Gigli EP), the chugging peak time hypnotism of "A New Leader: The Machine Replaces The Man" and the darkly relentless "The Net: The Meta-Human Psyche Versus The Machine". Heavy!

Tender Is The Night (6:45)
Black Market (6:04)
Review: Psyk's Non Series kicks off 2019 with a new EP from Italian Luigi Tozzi. The Rome based producer is respected for his deeply hypnotic ambient techno sound and has released his wares on Outis Music and Hypnus before now.

Opener 'Allergic' is a serene and spacious techno roller, with glitchy hits and icy hi hats echoing out into a spacey atmosphere. The equally smooth 'Eos' has more subtle, subtle kicks setting a rolling groove, with warped synths and eerie little synth details providing the cerebral hooks. 'Tender Is The Night' is another expertly designed bit of headspace techno in which to lose yourself and 'Black Market' closes things out in more rugged fashion, with rasping synths and corrugated drums all sinking you into the groove. All four tracks here pair ambient headphone beauty with tasteful deep techno dynamics.

Review: Those with a working knowledge of the history of techno in Rome should love Luigi Tozzi's work. His use of industrial textures, murky electronics and dark tones undoubtedly doffs a cap to Italian techno pioneers like Lory D, Andrea Benedetti and Leo Anibaldi. For proof, check out the producer's latest EP, Almost Blue. Opener 'Black-Eyed' is a hypnotic, minimal techno-influenced take on that lo-fo, industrial-tinged "future sound of Rome" from the early '90s, while 'Almost Blue' cannily combines warped electronic motifs, dense drums, creeping chords and tons of late-night urban darkness. The EP's other two tracks, 'Narcoleptic' and 'Fleash Mechanics', a murky, stripped-back and surprisingly intense.

Review: Non Series welcomes back core family member Luigi Tozzi for what is his third EP on the label. This time out he offers his most mature sounds yet across four fantastic cuts. The first is a stripped back, tunnel vision techno roller with pulsing synths and deep cosmic sonar sounds. 'Spiral' is just as perfectly paired back, this time with soft shakers and a warped synth lead accompanying the smooth drums. 'Aztlan' has a haunting late night feel and paranoid sense of menace while 'Sorcery' rocks back and forth on unbalanced drums that are dubby and delightful.

Review: The non series's eighth release is a label debut from Tory. He serves up four banging cuts that kick off with 'Ego Death.' It is built on muscular drum loops and rattling bass, with watery droplets and oversized hi-hats adding to the tunnelling effect of the groove. 'Spirit Navigation' keeps up the pressure with another suspensory groover that hangs in mid-air with rubbery bass and tightly woven synths. Reeko takes it into a darker place with a remix for the warehouse parties out there and things then get tripped out and decidedly sci-fi on 'Voyage To Pollux,' a nice and atmospheric tune with wispy synth motifs.

Twice The Rice (7:42)
Review: Israeli artist Yogg first elbowed his way onto the map by not merely spewing forth ceaseless bangers, but also by co-founded the Parallax label with fellow techno artist Pharaoh. Here, though, he takes a detour to release on the esteemed Non, dropping four weirdo atmossy techno numbers via a label who don't take kindly to anything remotely unsubtle or underproduced. On 'Twice The Rice', we hear A-siders 'Blaze It' and 'Nico's Bass' play back like two sides of the same divine coin, the former working a sort of mouthy filtered synth through endless sleets, and the latter removing it, revelling in atmospheric knocks and gargantuan sonic cavities opening up. 'Bein Noodle' maddens things on the B, as our ears float unwittingly into a perfect psychedelic factoryscape; 'Twice The Rice' unsettles and unnerves, as we edge towards its generative core.
